I am glad you pointed out the maybe side. If it is her first child and I think we have all been there with those feelings. This mom didn't know how to handle her child and handled it poorly. We can pray that this mom was just having a bad day, and that this kid is surrounded by a loving environment. This is a great PSA!

That is heartbreaking, I’m sure it was bringing out some memories of your childhood. You are so kind and patient with all your little ones. It’s wonderful that you are breaking the cycle of parents being out of control. You are an awesome mom, sometimes moms are not too open for advice, but you are right we should try and help for the child’s benefit.

I love that you give prospective of the child....I know growing up I was always told to “keep up” with the adults and I would get soooo tired! Also yelling doesn’t help!

Really great message, Mom! Be thoughtful. Think outside ourselves. Be compassionate! Really hit home, because often when I see a parent like that, I get exasperated, and judgemental, when I should be see if there is anything I can do to help. Like the song says, “It only takes a moment.” Thank you for this important wake up call. We can all make a difference in this world. ❤️🤗👍👍

Chances are, if you had said something to her, she would have gotten defensive and made it worse. Shepherd's face when he saw the dinosaurs was so cute.

Oh my... that's my daughter...she has so many "I don't know" answers. 😢 was recently diagnosed with Pervasive Communication Disorder also with ADHD. So hard sometimes. Yes...agree. I've had some of those days of so much stuff. I've almost exploded at time. I keep forgetting that this little girl I have was in an orphanage for two years and so different for her growing up. ❤

Sadly that was probably a mom who had just had ENOUGH. I've had my own "mommy meltdowns" on my nephew before. Sometimes publicly...but I ALWAYS look him in the eye, on HIS level and say " I'm sorry", and then explain why I was wrong. He's old enough now to know when he's testing my patience, but those early years were a doozy! If it weren't for those chubby cheeks and gigantic blue eyes...I'd have left him with the circus! Something I have noticed through the years though...parents whose child is their only interaction with a child, aren't aware of how children act...but those of us who've been exposed to kids of all ages our whole lives, fair better with kids because we can pull from memory what typical 3 yr old behavior should be vs 9 yr old. They need to be taught how to human, it's why we "raise them."

That poor little person. How can mothers be like that towards their precious little ones. I hate watching mothers berate their kids, or even worse man-handling them. It’s so disrespectful towards little ones. Our kids take their cue from us so we need to be kind, gentle and loving towards them in thought, word and action. You are so great in the way you are in tune with your kids.

Thank you for being so understanding- as parents we can get so “in our own head” rather than being present with our children. Hopefully somehow this mom will hear and receive the advice with the love and support you gave it. ☀️

I wasnt even going to speak but I was glad to hear you say that the mom could be having a bad day and not just judging her. I think as mom we raise our kids differently so what you feel may not be how she feels. I would have loved for you to say how can I help verses what are you doing to your child. Not that you said what are you doing to this child. I love the way you put things. Keep doing good work. I hope what I said made since. GOD bless.

So sad to hear that story. And so sad to know there are parents out there who treat their children inappropriately, probably like you said, without realizing what they are doing to them. And it's such an interesting experience to see the difference between your kids from 2017 and now. (--> I'm still catching up, watching the old videos. I'm at April 2017 now.)

the mum May have been stressed out herself. Sometimes we just need to take a breath and a moment but it’s hard in those situations. I often offer help to others I see struggling or even just words of encouragement like “your doing a great job”.. let’s face it being a mum is hard work it’s full on and sometimes we don’t feel like we are doing a good job, or that we are appreciated. But it is the most rewarding on of all

Amen. When you were talking about the child I thought she may be afraid. All the dinosaurs could have been overwhelming to her. They don't look like Littlefoot. She didn't know how to express herself at that age. Raising kids is tough especially for new mom's or mom's who are raising kids alone. Thanks for sharing with us.

Ty for trying to be understanding to that woman. I have had the same scenario either in an aisle in of a store or in a bathroom. I have then raised my voice in prayer and claimed the power of Jesus to give this Mother peace and support and Bless her and child. Never had repercussions just hugs.

As a foster mom, that breaks my heart because I’ve seen what that type of parenting does to kids (in a grander scale obviously). Yes, maybe she was overwhelmed m. Yes maybe she just didn’t know what else to do, but that still doesn’t lessen the fact that treating anyone like that is not ok.

I hope that the mom was just stressed out and that she does not normally yell at her child. Hopefully she realized what she was doing to her child. I hope she found a bench and had a nice quiet time out for both her and her child. That was a very sad situation.

I’ve been on both sides of it. Needing the help and also seeing someone who needs help but not knowing how to help. I feel like we moms judge each other so often that when we need help we are afraid to ask for help for fear of being judged. Or on the other side I don’t want to say the wrong thing in fear of sounding judgmental.

I've seen that way too often as well 😭 me being a young adult with no children it feels like I shouldn't step in and give advice to a parent but you don't have to be a mom to know when a child is being mistreated if anything I'll flash a smile to the child or if i can i try to distract the mother. I work in a fast food restaurant and the amount of mothers that go in there and yell at their kids for not knowing what they want to eat as they look up at the BIG menu board is ridiculous. I'm at work I can't be like "HEY LADY YOUR CHILD IS ANXIOUS STOP YELLING AT THEM" shoot "I" still get overwhelmed looking at menu boards and I'm 21 like c'mon.

Hi Neysa, it is sweet that you are so concerned for this poor toddler. It must have brought back a lot of of bad memories. I don't know if the mother would have listened to you since she was so upset and angry. I think she should calm down first. You can't do that for her at that moment. I think she wouldn't have listened to reason. She might feel criticized at that moment and it could have gotten worse. It is hard deciding what is the best way. Probably being spoken to a bit later, at best by somebody she trusts or a professional (for instance a nanny, a teacher). You're a sweet and loving mother and you have a beautiful family. Love you all.

I can really relate to this. The amount of times I have felt so guilty to walk past people who need help or who are doing something wrong just because I'm scared to confront them or shocked at the situation. Not that long ago I gave my bus money to a homeless pregnant woman who looked so desperate. When I'm out I see people on the streets but choose to ignore their suffering even though my conscience really wants to help. This woman said god bless you and was so happy, I gave her enough so she could spend a night in a shelter and have some food. I walked home instead of using my bus but felt so happy that I didn't not get involved but offered a helping hand to someone who needed it. Jesus spent his life trying to help those in need and asked us to love our neighbor, even our enemy. That mother in the bathroom could of been an abusive mom and her child might be really affected by her out of control behavior. My father abandoned me when I was two and while I don't really remember it, I do remember how it made me feel and feelings of abandonment is something I have had to work through in later life. Children as young as 2 and 3 can be really affected in years to come by things like a parent shouting at them. However this mother could of been a mom who was a single mom, who had no support, who worked long hours and had planned on her one day off, a treat for her toddler wanting to make them happy and felt so frustrated feeling she couldn't do anything right and this mom just needs a friend. You learn from the past and I'm sure one day when you come across a similar situation you will feel empowered because of last time to stand up for the child and be there for the mom. Most people never stop for others but we always can. I remember on your vlog when in a coffee shop I think a guy paid for all your food and you said how inspired that made you feel. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. - Mark 6:34

The child probably was incredibly overwhelmed... poor baby... I may have waited for them to finish and said something to the child like “it’s going to be ok”. Because at that point it’s ok if the mom yells at me instead... and yes perhaps say to the mom ”it’s going to be ok”. “It’s crazy out there today huh?” Or I might have asked through the stall “are you ok?” Do you guys need something?” Me personally when my children get like that I try to redirect and if that doesn’t work I remove myself and my child from the environment. If I am overwhelmed I will ask for help ..... no one likes to feel that way.. and when a child feels like that it can be scary. I have been in a situation like this and I offered to take her child for a few minutes (she was comfortable enough) and let her play with us to give the mom some time to cool off (an adult time-out) she came back I gave her a hug and told her that we all go through this and don’t ever be afraid to ask for help or a break... we shouldn’t mom shame we should help each other out... being a mom is hard work and is overwhelming at times... I am so sorry that you felt helpless.. it’s hard to know what to do in that situation especially in today’s world... I came from a family where parents screamed not just yelled and they hit not just spanked... I don’t speak to my parents today and that’s ok I choose to surround myself with calm positive people. I know this has turned into a looong comment but.. I had a friend who came from a family where she was one of 6 and I wished I could live with them because as messy as their house was and kids everywhere it was so calm and never ever did I hear their mother yell .. ever! I loved going there. I would even go to church with them and loved it .. thankful I had a friend like that! Sending love and hugs 💛🤗🥰

If you would have said something it would have at least given the Mom some pause for thought, even if she would have gotten offended.. I'm sure in her mind she would stop to think about herself.. glad you did think about it, even if it was after the fact.. some times in the moment we can't find the right answer on what to do.. now next time you (we) can say something instead of regretting not saying something

Goats milk blurrrghhhh, you can have any goats milk I may get shepherd...lol, I can't have lactose or gluten, & so been encouraged to like these milks, But I just can't, I don't like them, I've tried soya, goats, coconut milk, oat milks & just don't like them, tried many times too, the only milk I like is sheeps milk but we can't always get it, & Arla milk which is cows milk BUT zero lactose in it as its been taken out, But that flies of the shelves as well, especially full fat, what's left is normally semi skimmed.... & awww there cute lil faces with the dinosaurs 😀, & lil babe wasn't keen but she held it together Bless her...awwww...
