All of Eastern Kentucky has been hit hard by the recent flooding. Families lost everything, business are not reparable and hearts are broken.
This is footage of the Appalachian Artisan Center, School of Luthiery and Troublesome Creek Stringed Instrument Company which were all massively impacted.
This Non-Profit organization has done so much good throughout the years including the Culture of Recovery Program. This program allow those in recovery to work with us here at the AAC and acquire a job while in the Recovery Program at our Troublesome Creek Stringed Instrument Company and other facilities.
I am the Director of Development and Fundraising for the Appalachian Artisan Center. This is one thing I truly never thought I would ever need to be Fundraising for. They have called this massive Flash Flooding a 100 year flood and some have even labeled it as a 200 year flood.
No one throughout our Community expected anything like this. Prayers go out to everyone lost during this horrid time.

Typically, when you walk through the AAC you hear laughter, the banging of clay in our studios, snaps of the camera from photographers, saws running, guys fixing the tops of guitars or dulcimers to be ready to go to the finish rooms. Now, there is nothing but mud, debris and the remanence of what once was.
