Winter using "remnants" to describe anything in this game just makes me think of the intro of Total Annihilation - "The remnants of their armies continue to battle on ravaged planets..."

They can only be built in water, but their effectiveness is incredible. It's like a tech 1.5 or tech 2 style unit. They're meant to be used in water battles, but they're equally good against land to. They can also land underwater and some come equipped with sonar for dealing with submarines like the Torpedo Gunships.

Air rushes seem to be frowned upon, so it was a great play to exploit that gap in preparedness.

I think if the pings came a little bit sooner or if they were spammed Mighty Sheep woulda lived and maybe even Moms coulda lived too, for example Flak was almost built in time. It looked to me that the moment the two realized what was going on the planes were already on top of them.

We dislike that word in all honesty. We try to honor the fact that most devs actually play the game a lot, and that indeed might be the secret ingredient why people seem to like BAR. However, in the leaderboards you can see that most top ranked players are not devs.

I just realized something that might make losing late games more fun in these games: Some kind of guerilla warfare units and buildings that allows a losing player to try and make a comeback.

in the original TA , you could use an air transport and 'kidnap' the enemy commander, fly them over enemy air defenses and let them shoot you down for big boomies

What a sick game, but a couple of the comments kind of annoy me a little bit. People are surprised that these devs are good/passionate and think that's somehow innate to them and that AAA game devs (or whoever) are just worse somehow. On one hand you have a completely open source, volunteer project, driven entirely by spare time, passion and the coming together of a community where there are no CEO pockets to line and no mortgages to pay, a one in a million environment standing as proof of the cool shit that can be done when you're not beholden to capitalism and employment. On the other you have AAA game development, which zero developers get into for money, but end up having to rely on for money. Where those developers don't pick what they make, they don't pick their deadlines, they have mandatory working hours + abhorrent crunch hours and they have all of their passion systematically destroyed by their industry because they have to make a Product for Profit. Obviously one of those projects is going to have more passionate, energized and invested developers who clearly play the thing they make. The problem is not Who is making the games, its How and Why they are making the games. Once again though, sick match and a big shout out to the whole BAR team/community. It's something very special.

This is completely false. Bungie devs were trash at their games (except for a couple guys who were 50's during the hay days of Halo 3 for example) and they were absolutely passionate about game making/their own games specifically. RTS games I imagine require more skilled devs at their own game in general. How else will they balance/design properly? Mix in OS, this being a passion project, being long time RTS players, etc... yeah they are the damn exception overall. There is no way to cope about it otherwise it's simply true.

@@flippedoutcookie jfc. Firstly the team playing here are not all "balancers" or really even designers that's not really how BAR or any dev team works. And yes you can obviously be passionate about your game and be bad at it too. That's not incompatible with anything I said. This game is literally built by *players* because they simply wanted it to exist and had the skillsets necessarily. Obviously they are better at their game (that they are building for *themselves*) than a studio making a product to a brief in order to make a profit. That is what makes them so exceptional. It is not some innate property of being somehow mystically, inherently different as a human being to your average AAA developer. It's just products under capitalism versus products not.

We need to have a Wikipedia page, which needs 'real' references of big/trustworthy websites. We've applied to verify our wiki-page setup, but it got declined multiple times. We've recently been covered by the biggest tech website in the Netherlands, maybe this will finally do the trick.

Devs playing and being good at the game they're making is the same reason TFT and FFXIV are such gems. I'm in love with BAR and I understand why after seeing the passion from the devs. Great game!

@@Komyets team fight tactics, it's the league of legends auto-chess game. I hate league, but TFT is incredibly fun and well designed. The lead dev of the game "Mortdog" frequently streams playing the game and releases videos on youtube for every patch going over his thought process on the changes. He has a mantra of "always blame me, not the team" because he cares about his team and listens to the community.

That might depend but they’re definitely a good bit stronger than T1 and are reasonably as cheap. So you get much stronger air

Or you could just not leave yourself completely vulnerable to it. The fact that out of 8 players there wasn't at least 1 on each side more or less dedicated to air is kinda ridiculous.

This could have been stopped by a few cheap AA turrets back in base or one out of 8 players building a few fighters. The seaplanes were scouted on the forward radars, so they had time to react they just didn't expect it and left themselves open. I've started always putting a few AA turrets in the front line after being wiped by air pushes. Also consider that top completely won their lanes, which means there was no pressure on green which allowed them breathing room to make air to support the other lanes. If top had been pressured more then green would have been forced to keep making sea units to defend their lane. Keep in mind it does take time and resources to switch to air and if you go air first then you have no ground units to hold your lane. Top was bound to wrap around anyway, this wasn't some OP move that they did for free.
