So the question about the flak… a bit of an oops, but I was just so surprised after being able to freely bomb his base and to find a tonne of additional anti-air over the other front. Wasn't tryna be mean :(

I love the visible cursors it makes watching replays so much better. Also when youre playing 8v8 and someone breaks through somewhere on the map, its hilarious to see 16 cursors frantically microing units everywhere.

It feels like no one is really _really_ good at this game yet, which is exciting, because it feels like when people really know what they're doing, there is room for a multitude of strategies to employ.

Im a starcraft fan AND a BAR fan. And Im ecstatic that you're making so much BAR content, especially as a major Supreme Commander fan as well.

Finally an rts that is fun to watch and fun to play

I think MasterBel's critique of MightySheep's flakgun locations was him being mildly upset that such an EPIC 1v1 that almost never happens ended with a bombing run on advanced fusion reactors. Such an anti-climactic end that could've devolved into even more insane fights ended with a right-click with bombers.

Was kind of shocked at how slow the game became but the FPS fiend view camera was HILARIOUS. I will watch Winter cast this game for sure

The Annihilator is what the Pulsar was called in Total Annihilation. Fired a single extremely strong shot instead of the more pulse like shot that the Pulsar fires.

20 minutes in and Winter has dawned a David Attenborough accent and is narrating ... Glorious

That was an amazing game to go so late, and back and forth. Red with the eco lead early and then blue with a great push to even it up.

the pulsars popping down and up is masterbel turning them off and on. when you turn them off they shut down and turtle, meaning they take considerably less damage but not being able to shoot.

Nice commentary. Been playing this for a year or so after playing Warzone 2100 and Zero-K as well as most of the commercial RTS titles. BAR is really well made and polished IMO.

What an absolutely insane match! When the vid started and epic battles were already going down i thought "oh that's different, Winter doesn't usually do a teaser..." Then it just kept going and getting even more intense for 45 more minutes! Holy crapoli. Love to see it!

Annihilator is the TA name of the pulsar yes. It is what makes Armada so strong in BAR at the T2 stage because their range is insanely better than the Bullwark, the Coretex equivalent. A good counter for pulsars is Dragons (T2 planes) coz pulsars can't fire in the air (they used to in TA).

the fighter spam is to overwhelm air defense while nuke bombers snipe the enemy commander

Fantastic, I really wanted to see a 1vs1 Cortex bots vs Armada bots early game. In theory (and in practice) is extremely hard to play with Armada early on with bots because your basic unit the Pawn it's outmatched by it's counterpart the Grunts given they have the same speed, less range, less accurate and being more expensive. Using ticks early on instead seems quite effective although with little room for error.

gonna be honest I kinda forgot that the commander is the actual win condition: in team games you only need 1 remaining per team so they don't matter beyond being a good unit that everyone has...which is to say that how the players use them _absolutely_ matters but they are not really treated as a win condition...hell, half the time they just blow their commander up themselves to get at the tasty tasty metal in their corpse for building their infrastructure.

Ignore the SC2 hardliners who are irritated at you playing this amazing game. I hope you don't stop! BAR is way more entertaining both to play and watch than SC2 for me personally, and I say that as a fan of SC2, but they are such different games and very different experiences and BAR is a take on the genre that needs more attention and love.

Had no idea this game was in development since 2010.

48:40 To be fair that is one of rookie mistakes to not shove your main eco as far away from the enemy as possible while also shoving as much anti-sniping defenses around it.

not to be *that guy* but at 6:00 the core player could *easily* have rotated north around the commander and killed it with those ten grunts in about 4 seconds, which is how *most* 1v1's go, wildly ending on t1 in the first ten minutes, which I think is actually super unsatisfying and I'd love if the usual game would go up to tier 3 units like this one did because the spectacle of tier 2 and up battle lines facing each other down is super cool and I love watching it, and I love playing it too I can understand if that balance doesn't manifest itself for many reasons, including just the inertia of the balance as it exists at this point in development, but I can't help dreaming all the same

Instead of CTLR+T I prefer to ALT+Scroll wheel to zoom in and out quickyl without changing the angle which is a bit more comfortable to my eyes and brain.

You gotta love playing new strategy games, these are not like SC2 pro's who never make mistakes, everyone's kinda bad right now.

Do we know if any brood war / sc2 players or really any pro RTS players are playing this? Hopefully with you covering this game on the regular, it gets the attention it deserves. This game is easily worth $20-30 especially if that income lead to more features and a Dev team able to fully focus on this and truly bring out its full potential. The best part is no ghosts with EMP!! Looking forward to angry coach covering this game potentially in the future.

Casting 1v1 in BAR is like casting 2v2 in SC2. It's just not the kind of game for it - watching larger scale fights is a lot more interesting tbh

Really like the replay games, but the fps cam is really not great, it's very entertaining for me seeing all of the various things happening on the map and when we go fps cam we basically see nothing, we lose all context

Very nice game, some visible tactics here instead of just sending shit-tons of units.
