Talk about right on time. Thanks so much for taking the time to create this content...You really shared some pearls of wisdom with us. I doubt you have the time with everything you have going on. Have you ever thought about getting your Doctorite? Thanks once again.
Revisiting this video as I find these breeding videos of yours very informative. I have working Dobermans and working quality is above all else for me as well. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge.
How come I suspect that your Sorrels line might in someways be an improvement on the original? To me improving the line just seems like something you would end up doing. Another thing I'm still trying to figure out, you don't breed for aesthetics yet the Pitbulls I've seen on your channel are in my opinion the best looking pits I've seen. I'm guessing some kind of weird coincidence, or something.
He improves on them in desired traits hes breedingthem for not the line itself and what he neant about not breeding for looks is he doesn't breed for color his dogs bred for a certain kind of performance so their bodies show the signs of being worked up
We breed for performance...and listen to the results by selecting those that work the best. The looks falls where it is, and we, like nature, accept those results.
I love your videos boss. I study them everyday. I breed French bulldogs but currently looking for a working dog that will be a pet but also guard my family and kennel. Do you have a website where I can see what's you have available or upcoming?
Thank you for another educational video. Curious to hear your opinion on breeds like Dogo Argentino, lighter/smaller Cane Corsos and Presa Canarios, and American Bulldogs; and how you would compare them to American Sentinel.
If I thought any of those breeds were superior to either the American Sentinel or the APBT, I would not bother with the American Sentinel...and while I certainly have no interest in talking down about other breeds of dogs, my honest opinion is both the APBT and the American Sentinel far outperform all the breeds you mentioned for four primary reasons...gameness, athleticism, and heat tolerance, and mental stability.
@@APBT-Bandog Thank you for the response! Right now we have an Amstaff and we really like him. I'm hoping in a few years we will be able to get one more dog, that is bigger and more capable, so I'm just slowly doing my research on what to get.
What do I do after I reach my end goal for dog breeding and I have what I want? How do I breed them to get more without inbreeding and without adding fresh DNA from a separate dog breed???
Linebreeding is a form of inbreeding and its goal is the same, to increase the appearance of recessive traits that are manifest within a desired ancestor by increasing homozygosity in the offspring. Linebreeding is only effective because it increases homozygosity, that is the mechanism through which it works to “fix” traits. Homozygosity is directly causative to recessive allele expression. Homozygosity “fixes” recessive traits without distinction to their merits. “Good” and “bad” alleles are doubled up just the same and at random.
It isn't just about increasing recessives. When combined with selection, inbreeding and line-breeding can also increase homozygosity of desired dominant traits as well.
I know you have some dogs you recommend as "pet grade", while others are more intense. Which is your goal, to produce pet grade, ultra intense ones or in-between? And what are your current dogs missing, or is it less about missing and more about improving and touching up (if you already are producing your goal but want to improve on a few things)?
I am not interested in "pet grade" animals unless those pets are also apex performers...why, well there is no reason why an apex dog cannot both excel at work and also be a great companion. I have no desire in pets that cannot work. As far as where we are...our animals work exceptionally well in every regard, but one should always try to make the razor sharper and more durable.
Mayday is a super old blood line ...super amazing .. I'm not in tuned with Pitbull bloodlines I used to be as a kid I had a book with bloodline such as razor's edge Kobe Goofy mayday etc are these still a thing?
Mayday, in terms of bloodlines is not really that old...as he was born in 1990, so the bloodline really began around 1995-2000. Many lines go back twice as far.
Two points I like the most if 50% of your yard don't consists of the best dogs you seen in your life what are you/them doing and you breed to be better than the two dog you put together period. Especially if they two traites clicked
@@ric2267 That is something that is only considered for the dogs we view as "pet class," meaning...a dog that is healthy & stable, but does not have the level of drive or the near perfect structure we desire.
Anyone that talks about "the golden vein" does not understand genetics. He uses phrases and sound bites like that to bait in people that are ignorant of genetics. Genes do not work that way.
