Brandon Layne The problem is that now the Devil can't touch him. He confessed his sins and was truly repentant. He'll pay for his sins in this life, so he'll be liberated in the next.
Solid StaleFry it doesnt work that way, just cuz confess your sins that doesnt mean all is forgiven. Thats like saying hitler's soul was cleansed becuz he confessed his sins
"Today, I'm an old woman." I fucking love that line. He doesn't just flat out say he's the devil but rather uses implications pointing to it. It also tells you how he can be anybody at anytime and you would never know. Also the walkie falling down from the roof of the elevator so he could admit his wrong and repent HAD to have been divine intervention. The cop who's family was killed by this dude being there to listen and finally found his family's killer also could not have been a coincidence.
No such thing as coincidence. Everything happens for a reason, though we may not know why until much further down the road, or until the very end. God being a loving Father gives us MANY chances to accept the truth and accept Him. How many times has someone avoided a tragedy just from a stumble, or some sort of delay? How many people avoided something like 9/11 just because they had car problems or sudden or unexplainable illnesses or SOMETHING, that they didn't go into the WTC or the place of the eventual tragedy? In 1995 my class was going on a field trip downtown to an Orchestra concert. We had issues with our busses and while we were waiting, the April 19th OKC bombing occurred
J J well when he confessed he repented of his wrong doing, I guess your both right, he acknowledged his wrong doing and repented even tho he believed he was about to be taken away and was willing to sacrifice himself for the girl
Later that woman would go to a diner in the middle of a desert, eat a raw steak, tells a woman that she'll burn, bites on somebody's neck, crawls on the ceiling, and get shot in the back three times by a gang banger
The creepiest thing about this part was the detective and guard couldn't hear their conversation in the elevator. Just saw a creepy "woman" rising from the dead.
TRUE STORY: I got on an elevator with a crowd of people I didn't know once. As the elevator was going down I said, has anybody here seen the movie devil. Its about a group of people getting stuck on an elevator on a high rise and one of the occupants is the devil disguised as an old woman and every time the lights went out, someone died. I swear, everybody turned their heads and looked at the oldest woman on the elevator. Nobody said a word.
I think one of the best parts about this movie is the fact that the two security guards are seeing everything. Alot of times in horror movies only the main character goes through these scary terrifying horrific moments but the reality of "oh shit other people are seeing this too" making it a true reality and not a possible figment of imagination is the real horror that gets me.
Jeremiah Mendez no you dumbass the devil made it look like it was dead and eventually picked off everyone one by one making whenever it got dark and bc no one would’ve suspected a old dead lady of doing anything
Watching this in the movie theater was absolutely crazy. The part when she revealed herself... the whole place gasped and was dead silent. Nobody moved ! People were walking out of there at the end saying NOTHING. If there is any kind of spirituality within the viewers, this movie really does make you think about the choices and decisions you've made in your own life. The ppl in the movie theater when I saw this for sure were thinking it bcz they weren't saying a DAMN thing when walking out. One other thing, my car was on the fifth floor of the lot. Did I take the elevator ?! NOO !!
BobbyStacking Bands The lady disappears from the elevator in the end, there by no corporeal form, even if she were during the movie. A possessed body would have been found in the elevator after the devil left. Use your head.
this movie gives a strong meaning....forgive others.... the Devil comes around like a lion and wants only the bad to happend .... the man repented and saw his error ...the Devil didnt like it ...so the Devil let him go
Such a major flaw in Christianity. Lucifer was kicked out of hell for rebelling against God and now he doesn't like rebels of god commandments. Doesn't make much sense you think wrong doers would be in the devils crew.
Not sure if it's about forgiving others but as to revealing really horrible things you have done that deserve *justice*. Such as for instance you commit a murder but you just forget about it, pretend like it never happened and just expect to be forgiven with no reprucussion. In God's eyes you will never be shown mercy untill you are willing to take full responsibilty for your actions.
Dude Lucifer was kicked out from Hevean not Hell beacuse God knew that Lucifer whould spread his Evil to other angels after that he took hi reveng and gaind domminion over Humanity.Ok he is Satan Supreme evil or Prime Evil he hates humanity but he and his demons tempts us so that they can punish us in Hell.God and angles are Good guys while Satan and demons are Evil ones.
The devil takes many forms but he is referred to as the angel of light, which makes many confused. He is Gods most beautiful creation but most evil and destructive
+Zac Primus The bible also said that jesus was brutally killed and then put in a rock tomb and then came back to life and pushed a huge bullder out of the way to get out. The bible is also full of shit
+TheElectrifyingGamingBrothers you didn't read the message right did you idiot, it's called sarcasm hence the bit "the Bible is full of shit" and I said (if you was reading) he supposedly came back to life and pushed it out of the way -_- but I don't believe any religious crap is what the moral is because it's all full of shit
+Jmitez Just remember folks. The Devils playground is an idle mind. His greatest weapon is if you don't believe...and he stalketh free. Here's a joke- 'Have you heard about the dyslexic devil worshipper? He sold his soul to santa.'
I’m no way religious but this movie was actually really good! Couldn’t understand the whole meaning of the movie when I was a kid. Now 19year old me completely understands and they should make a second one.
"I really wanted you" I know its not the greatest movie I will admit that, but lines like that make it stick to you for a while. With that line, it made me think the reason the devil really wanted him was because of how close he was to being forgiven in the eyes of their God. Imagine how delicious it would of been if he didn't repent. If he didn't confess. If he took that truth to his grave and the dude would of never known who killed his wife and son. But instead he confessed. He wanted to barter to save a life. He didn't expect to be saved or to be forgiven and in what he assumed was going to be the last moments of his life before he goes to hell he confesses. And in the end I don't think the devil could be too angry with the development. I mean, with how calm it was in the end before disappearing? It may of been acting angry and etc to scare him. To make him back down. And when he didn't? Well, it was a good game.
The Devil wasn't too worried cuz he knew there will be those who don't feel for repentance nor will ever change for good. In his mind he was probably saying "Shit, this one slipped thru my fingers. I've got another 2-3 million faithless, damned souls to follow up on...." *Disappears with a flicker of the lights*
is it just me, or did anyone notice how the order of the 5 ppl entering the elevator foreshadowed what order they'll die? like: the creepy guy and the old lady went in first (first two to die), then the security guard (third to die), then the woman, then lastly the guy who repented...? (tho he's the only one who lived)
the fact that she said damn I really wanted you makes me think that the devil only does take bad souls and if you atone for what you have done and accept the consequences then he can't take you
Tahtsani Lee Nobody ever seems to think maybe god is the devil, or the devil is god. It's all spoon-fed propaganda created to instill a sense of morality and hope in a cold dark world. If there was a god, my two year old son would still be alive.
Sheeple People everyone dies at some point of their life. Look, I like to call it a life line made by God, on that line at some point that line is no longer going that is when you pass away. If your son died at 2 that is very sad, and I feel so so bad, your baby boy is waiting for you in Heaven, so if you choose to follow the path of God you will spend eternity with God, Jesus, your son and be comforted and Loved so much by everyone else in Heaven. So if you want to be with your son you will listen to God, and pray at night, and Repent and ask God for your sins, and just because you can't see God doesn't mean he isn't here with you helping you. Have faith in God and he will have faith in you. Hope you choose God. Trust me you will be influenced to not believe in our God, but he is real. Please listen.
I just watched this a second time. Cause my first watch, I was trying so hard to figure out which one was the devil. And when the old lady got up. I just. 🙉💥 So I watched it again, and from the beginning I remembered, "I never really liked that old lady's attitude"
yeah none of those people were the devil the devil was in the elevator but not in them at the end she possessed the old lady who was dead the 4 people that died in that elevator all go to hell except for the veteran because he got forgived you probably already know this. it's very true bad things happen for a reason.
youre wrong, the old lady was the devil, it didn't possess her dead body at all. When they open the elevator doors you can see that the old lady is gone, her body is not even on the floor with the other 3 dead bodies. The cop even says "where did she go". At one point in the film the cops think that the old lady is called jane kowski, and they think that the man who survived in the elevator didn't sign himself in that day, but they later on discover they made a mistake that the man did in fact sign in as janekowski and that the old lady didn't sign in at all. In a scene that happens right before this video starts a woman comes into the room and she tells the cop that the man in the elevator is her fiance and that his name is Tony. The cop asks her what Tonys last name is to which she says janekowski, the cop says "jane kowski is janekowski? He signed in. Then who is"... So cleary the devil did take the form of an old woman. The character Ramirez does the narration at the beginning of the movie, he says "When I was a child, my mother would tell me a story about how the Devil roams the Earth. Sometimes, she said, he would take human form so he could punish the damned on Earth before claiming their souls. The ones he chose would be gathered together and tortured as he hid amongst them, pretending to be one of them. I always believed my mother was telling me an old wives' tale... My mother's story would always begin the same way, with a suicide paving the way for the Devil's arrival. And it would always end with the deaths of all those trapped."
bekindrewind If you want to watch another movie kind of like this one, there's an awesome Denzel Washington movie that's similar. It's called "Fallen."
Was I the only one who got upset when the cop said "were did she go" like he expected her to be in there with her hands up waiting on him to arrest her? How you see all this and your still an unbeliever. My goodness
Hated the way she glared at him.... very clever acting and casting. Loved it but was terrified at the same time. Plus the main guy looks like tom hardy :D... made me smile lol
After earth, the last airbender, lady in the water, the happening and this all very bad movies. Wouldn’t say he’s a genius but he has a few good movies this just ain’t one of them
Tony’s confession of his hit and run crime and willingness to pay the price for it literally saved his Soul. What more appropriate entity than the Devil himself would say “Damn!” ?
Remember people God will forgive you for anything if you are truly sorry for your actions and the Devil will tell you anything to make you doubt your faith in yourself and God.
Don't you guys know why each person died? Vince was a scam artist, the old woman ( the devil ) was a thief, Ben ( guard ) put someone in a coma with a baseball bat when he was little, Sarah ( young woman ) was a blackmailing liar and thief. Tony ( hooded guy ) did not die because the accident was a huge and pure mistake. The devil could only take bad people. EDIT: I do realize now that I didn't go into a full explanation into Tony's backstory, but I didn't have to since someone else already explained it. Thank you :).
+Munira Shah Tony did something worse than anyone. Even if it was an accident, he ran and didn't own up to it. (I actually don't remember if it was his fault or not because it doesn't matter.) What does matter: He confessed, and owned up to it, and was sorry. His repentance, not his innocence, was why the devil lost him.
Alex Harvey Yeah, I remember the first time I watched this movie I thought the old woman was the devil all along. The second time I watched it, I noticed that it was stated that the old woman was a thief before she was possessed.
Good movie !!! I do believe in God and the Devil and I think this is probably an accurate description on what you would see meeting him face to face in a human form.
So much religious 💩 here! Unbelievable! Mankind stood up from a chemical soup 1 Million years ago and if your life ends it’s over! Do you remember the days before your birth? No! And you won’t see anything again after your death! Mankind is nothing in this big universe, we make ourselves more important than we are! If we were the children, the product of a mighty creature, a god, you really think he would just sit back and watch thousands of kids dying every day? Innocent kids!? We are alone and should do the best with our life we got from nothing but evolution!
I love moments where people who do t believe in the supernatural encounter something supernatural, but they dont wanna believe it, and try to understand what happened, but they cant.
you'd think devil would reward people for doing evil, and made sure everyone knew, you do bad hell will be your heaven, that's how you do the most damage.
I have been scared by two movies in my adult life: The Strangers was one, and this was the other. This movie wasn't that good, but this is the CREEPIEST scene ever filmed.
The scariest part when I first saw it was she was like stop saying that then she was like you think this would make you good you not good she was like close range all in his face you think you can be forgiven
If you aren't saved and haven't accepted Jesus as Lord be extra careful, because in the twinkling of an eye your soul can depart this world and you will lift your eyes in a burning Hell. No one knows what the next minute will bring, but once you're there it's no escape. Satan's biggest achievement, as much as I hate to admit it, is preying on weak minded people and non-believers and having them believe he isn't real. Please remember God is real also and all we have to do is repent of your sins and believe & accept Jesus Christ as His only Begotten Son and as Lord & Savior, then keep God's Commandments.
I only speak about what I know is true; also the Word of God does not and will not be argued over because that's not the type of God He is. He comes to us in love & truth, not confusion and unrest and condemnation. Just because you assume something isn't real or 'there' doesn't mean that it isn't BUT that's the beauty of freewill. We all have to see the light of Christ on our own, no one can do it for us, but we often come to believe when it's too late. Be blessed my brother and have a nice day.
One of those underrated gems you say u don't wanna watch and then when u do it just blows u away everything about this movie to me is amazing and crazy as hell
Seriously, this movie scared me so much, each time I see it as a choice in Netflix I try not to even look at the cover screen. This movie is crazy as hell...
I thought it was her from the beginning. It's always the least expected person we all know that. Or you should. Then I got thrown off when she "died" and thought it was the younger girl. This scene was scary as shit and when she says "STOP SAYING THAT" I jump every time. I thought it was a good movie. But I barely ever watch movies so what do I know lol
The cop forgave him, not just because he's had time to grieve and forgive but because he knows there's nothing on this earth that could possibly come close to the punishment he just went through caused by the devil themself.
Don't really know about the forgiving part, but I don't think that cop belived that the old woman was the devil, if he did he wouldn't have tried to arrest her or screamed where did she go at the end.
One of my favorite thriller/horror movies I've seen in the past 10 years. It's an incredibly clever Whodunnit with a nice story and good actors. I truly recommend watching the whole movie.
I love the detail at the end when the devil fixes his hair before disappearing. It totally feeds into how satan was a narcissist and heavily cares about his appearance.
Scarier than this scene is the fact, he confessed to the detective who also was the father and husband of the mother and child that got killed in the hit and run... he could easily kill him and he wont be even charged last act of redemption
That pause before the "Damn, I really wanted you" makes me think the devil was going through some cosmic file in their mind to see if his placement was changed from hell to heaven which is kinda funny.
I like Officer Ramirez. He was the ONLY one in the entire movie to know what/who they were dealing with while everyone else were simply skeptics and non-believers. He even went as far as to warn them about the dangers and stories, but no one believed and considered him "crazy". Guess what? Innocent people died, or people were getting hurt. This movie tells you that even if you're a skeptical, or non-believer. You should ALWAYS keep an open mind of the possibilities. Because we live in a world that anything is possible. That's how skeptics should be seeing life as. Not simply say, "Well, if I can't see it or touch it? Then it's not real". In real life, we are faced with many scenarios like this. We tell you guys, but you believe we are the crazies. That is why many innocent people end up hurt. Because they simply did not believe. It is quite sad when I see non-believers getting hurt. Don't worry, we are your greatest spiritual allies! Because we call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! Amen! ✝️ Kudos Officer Ramirez! You did what many of us would've have done. Warn them, and pray for them. 🙏
