Honestly, I find it funny how the train somehow manages to pick up speed when it starts skidding across the platform 😂

7:11 you can see the subway momentarily slow down, then start to go fast again

I like how the motorman was like: Yeah just another normal day at Lafayette Also for anyone who didn't know this, specific parts of the platform and the train were more survivable than others. On the train, the most survivable place would be on the left side of the train because the train travelling 10,000 mph mostly affected the right side of the train. For the station, it matters what you think of left and right. Many people ran in the center, which was in the path of a 58 mph train. If they would have ran or stood on the "left" side of the platform, those people could have still survived with maybe only minor injuries. If I were involved in something like this, I would stay on the left side of the train.

tbh this feels scarier than any horror movie scene to me i also want this scene to be explained, there are just too many things that don’t make sense

8:09 here it looks like the train will finally stop jumping onto the platform, but then that same wagon decides it is time to bunnyhop his way into mowing yet more people down (8:13)

The reason why it has the same number is probably because they thought we will not notice it, they probably put it there for more realistic subways, I wonder if 5161 is in real life🤔?

im going to list some small details that ruin this scene too (for every part of this scene that took place in the subway station and tunnels) if the MTA actually had a problem with these electrical issues, for example, the lights repeatedly flickering, the track switch malfunctioning, the subway service in the area would be shut off (for the entire train crash) way too many sparks, way too many. (for every part of this scene that featured cops) the cops would've reacted way more quick, and [i think] even call in other cops. 1:15 Cool! I didn't know people knew how to remember that safety comes first! There's crowds of people crossing busy streets! That's totally safe! (don't try this) Aren't pedestrian crossing signals supposed to be at busy cities in the United States? 1:15 Seriously, how do cars make a camera shake? The only thing I can assume is that the studio put a camera on a car, instead of using a drone, like the other scenes do. 1:20 I don't think somebody would leave their motorcycle, and a bike unattended at a city that has a crime rate, somebody could've just gone there and stole the 2 things 1:25 john parks his car at a busy part of the road, he could've hit somebody or more for gods sake 1:43 there's subway signs here, there, everywhere, like jeez, they already know where the station entrance is 2:35 where's that smoke coming from? 2:38 John asks a police officer a question and instantly runs away. Wow! And they even have the other cops chasing after John! Couldn't the female cop communicate with the other cops and tell them that John asked a question about a closed intersection? 2:48 the J and Z don't stop at this station, cause the Williamsburg Bridge is more south from this station, making the J and Z not even close to this station in reality. the 5 doesn't stop here, the B, D, F, and M stop here, and the 4 only stops here at late nights. 2:57 in the station, there's NO TURNSTYLES! in the subway, you have to pay fares with a card called the "MetroCard" (mta is now using OMNY but this takes place before 2024) and it has money on it. you use the card to pay your fares to ride the subway, but there's no turnstyles here, just a labyrinth of escalator. The MTA is totally making money from this! (sarcasm) 2:57 you can only hear these subway service announcements on the platform. if there's that much escalators that go very deep underground, why can they hear the announcements from that high up? 3:11 in reality, the nyc subway doesn't have lights hovering over the tracks, and the system doesn't have lights on the pillars. 3:12 of course, this is something annoying that Hollywood does to movies that have scenes that take place in a crowded area. 3:51 did you catch that? next to that pillar (the one closer to the camera) with the station name, there's a blonde lady fiddling with a trash bag. why in the subway? 3:56 Just imagine there was no criminal in the station and John got arrested. 4:24 really train driver? why did you need to honk the horn if there's nothing to honk at 5:03 So, why are the train doors labeled as L1-L6 and R1-R6, if the MTA actually labels all doors on both sides as 1-6? Do the directors not know that the train could be facing different directions, which is why the doors on the left side of the train are labeled as R1-R6 and the doors on the right side of the train are labeled as L1-L6. That's some brilliant planning! 5:14 the cops decided to enter through only 1 entrance door of the train and go through the intercar doors that john and the criminal are using to get away. they could've just gone through the entrance doors to make the criminal stuck between each cop, and have nowhere to go. 6:36 in reality, NYC's subway system has speed limits to prevent terrible derailments, like shown in this video. but the driver of the 4 train doesn't care, breaks this safety rule, and he acts like he's on the autobahn. he should've been fired sooner than later 6:45 so the track switch changed direction from the express track (the track the 4 train is operating on) to the local track (the track that the 6 train is operating on). but the train suddenly goes over the switch while it's in this direction and scratches the wall on the left side of the tunnel, instead of going on the local track without derailing. 6:47 in reality, the nyc subway doesn't have these alerts that ring and flash red lights 6:48 this is unrealistic. the emergency brakes would've been activated in such scenario like this 6:56 What's with the scene starting off as a crime chase and then without any transition, turning into a train crash? That's just stupid. 6:59 you see those pillars on the left side of the 6 train john is riding? how did they suddenly disappear in 7:09 7:10 in reality the trains in NYC's subway system is powered by a 3rd rail. notice how the 4 train is still moving, even while not connected to a 3rd rail, which is not even shown in this crash scene. damn, these trains work like they are powered by phone batteries 7:10 that sound that plays when the 4 train crashes into that pillar plays multiple times during this train crash scene. it also plays in different disaster scenes. 7:11 the 4 train broke the law of inertia, and friction suddenly disappeared for 44 seconds 7:16 why do the doors on the train have buttons on them? the actual subway doesn't have these! 7:17 look carefully at the windows of the 6 train (the train that the people are running out of). there's absolutely NO ONE through the windows. if the train was this crowded, you would see people through the windows. 7:17 on that station sign, it says on the left "downtown and brooklyn, 7 av express". this crash scene takes place at a platform that the 4, 5, and 6 (lexington av express lines) stop at. the 7 av express is consisted of the 1, 2, and 3 lines, which are NOT shown anywhere in this movie. also, on the station sign, it gives information about where the 4 and 5 trains stop at, but it gives no information on where the 6 trains stop at. 7:28 The 4 train is so stiff that all of the train cars are rotated at the same exact angle, and they stay at that angle until 7:50. 7:29 also, there's still people on the other end of the station (the derailed train is right there, the people at the other side of the station are at risk) who aren't running, and right when the 4 train goes towards the 6 train, you can see the people slowly moving 7:36 this scene makes me wonder how heavy the 6 train was. when the 4 train crashed into it, the 6 train barely moved. the 6 train didn't even get pushed backwards a centimeter in this scene, not even hit or destroy the pillars on it's left 7:44 you see the 4 train rotated on a specific angle, but on 7:53 the 4 train is completely on it's side 8:03 in this crowd, it looks like someone with a long object is there. but how did he obtain that object? is that a sword? 8:04 next to this staircase, there's a sign that says "Lafayette Street Station". this sign should've been at the STATION ENTRANCE, not at the platform! 8:05 you see this train car that collapsed the staircase? in 8:08 it is somehow rotated a different angle, then it falls on it's side again. 8:13 why is there people on this side of the platform!? some of them aren't even moving 8:21 some of the people that fell and got pushed by that train car (that train car that ends up crashing into the escalator), vanished into the shadow realm 8:30 why are there still lights on in the train? they were off in 8:17 8:24 That train was constantly moving unrealistically. It should've just went up the escalators, killing everyone trying to escape, crashing into crowds, destroying buildings, terrorizing the city, then flying to outer space. 8:32 that dangling long thing that is connected to the ceiling of the train detaches and hits the ground. if the 4 train destroyed the 6 train badly, that thing would've already been detached from the ceiling. 8:42 john ends up getting out of the station after this crash scene, but how does he do that if the damn exit is blocked by a train car? Did he use the :fly command? it said that 81 people died in this crash. that is impossible! there's way more people that could've died, by the look of how much damage the 4 train did to the station If this was realistic, the train crash wouldn't have even happened. The directors should've remembered how science works (if they even learned that) I feel like the directors just chose a random city subway system for this scene, instead of one they knew about. Lots of money spent for a terrible movie. (Now, I didn't watch the movie, cause I have already recognized that the movie is terrible, and has countless negative reviews.)

One thing you forgot to mention. On 2:48, when John was entering the Lafayette St station, it shows that the 4, 5, 6, J, M, and Z trains go there. The J and Z trains don’t go there and the 4 and 5 skips it to Brooklyn Bridge or Union Square if it was going to the Bronx (except for late nights)

Very good analysis! I am very big on this scene, and noticed these things too. A few other things to consider: 6:57 The train would've easily screeched to a halt. It wouldn't have even reached the platform. 7:11 The train changes speed multiple times 7:20 How did this man get flung? 7:36 Slamming into the other train would've stopped it 7:54 Slamming into the pillars would've stopped it 8:04 There's no way it could've plowed through that staircase 8:14 The collapsing ceiling would've pinned it down 8:21 How are these people getting sucked under? 8:24 According to the movie's understanding of physics and energy, these stairs shouldn't have stopped it. Great video, I enjoyed every bit of it!

Yknow, I’ve been interested in this movie for a while now, but never got to watching it (mostly because I don't want to, don't ask why). Can you make a full Everything Wrong With Knowing video by the way? I requested it to CinemaSins earlier.
