Just came here from Mental Checkpoint, I tried getting into this game years ago but couldn't, I just wanna see what peak performance looks like. EDIT: Fuckin' hell
skulls use a flocking algorithm called "boids" that gives them a simple set of rules to follow. one of those rules is that skulls like to stick next to eachother. you can exploit this behavior by using your movement to wrangle skulls into a neat cluster behind you. 100 skulls turn into 1 big blob with a predictable trajectory. it's more about keeping your eye out for rogues that DON'T conform to the swarm, eliminating targets that have more dangerous trajectories that you can't keep track of.
@@anaxe4370 Genuine question from a 820PB player. How consistent are your insane early game farms? Do you survive the farm with optimal gem collection and reach Levia, like, 1 game out of 10, 3-5 games out of 10, or 99 games out of 100? I'm trying to finally upgrade my farm to a chaos one to get that sweet pre-Giga lv4 hand, and I sometimes manage to close them, but I'm still very inconsistent and it's still hard. Sometimes I simply lose control and, despite my best attempts to kite most skulls, it feels like I can't stop shooting for collecting not even for a second. I feel like a relevant factor for my success is a decent squid RNG; sometimes (like in ~195s in your run) I feel like I have a clear large zone that makes keeping control much more doable; other times, all the squids are scattered evenly throughout the edge of the arena and managing the skulls becomes much harder (of course the center is relatively clear when this happens, but it's hard to camp there with hoards of Skull2's flooding it and squids gushing from every direction). Am I missing something? Are there any tricks to make it more manageable, or there simply aren't, and chaos farming requires a bit of RNG and/or insane game sense? Sorry for the walltext and gg for the WR. You are fucking *scary*, dude
@@CiuccioeCorraz thanks!! it varies. some days i can slam 260+ homing at levi back to back, and some days i struggle. at my current skill level I would say 240@levi is the most i can consistently achieve. any more and it starts quickly declining in success rate as you push the farm into giga trio. you're forced to look away from the arena to shoot spiders which is essentially flipping a coin when there's multiple skull2 on the arena. i'd say ckle (#2 player) and i can can achieve 240@levi with basically 90% success rate on good days. 200@levi would be something we can do casually with 100% success rate. the lightest chaos farm you can do will be about 180@levi, giving you lvl4 right before the gigapedes come out. my advice would be to not farm squid2 after the first centipede. let them gush twice and then kill them. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7aODXr7zOgM.html here's a video guide i made for light chaos farm. also just to be clear: farming should not be your focus if you want to push your pb. it simply doesn't matter. the wr for no-farm is 1190, for reference. the amount of gems you get from farming is microscopic compared to what you'll get by optimizing your loop gameplay. farming is really fun, just understand that its not the key to progressing. goodluck!!
@@anaxe4370 Thanks, super-appreciated! I'll definetely check your chaos farm tutorial. I was also kinda aware of the miniscule importance of heavy early game farming when it comes to no. of gems in the deep loops (I want to be able to consistently close a chaos farm because I, maybe wrongly, percieve it as an important milestone to one's skill progress, just like hitting 1k secs), but... 1190 no farm? Woah. I expected a big number, but not *that* deep in the thousands. Crazy, that really puts some perspective on the farms... You top players are absolutely crazy with those hellish early games ahah. Thanks again man, keep up the *amazing* content!
i hope this dev makes another game...this is such an unreal creation....it's just unbelievably good!!! the visuals...the audio...the gameplay...the learning curve journey....mwah!!
@19:50 clearly the dev's artistic interpretation of living through the final moments of when reality and the universe that finally collapses in on itself.
Holy fuck what a great game, and what a great player. I love horde modes, L4D Survival, Halo's Firefight, Killing floor, Doom eternal, plenty more after, but nothing hits like this one!
thx! and no, i do not recommend farming to beginners. new players should focus on gem collection and kiting. once you start consistently reaching giga trio at 260s with good collection and without using a ton of homing, i might suggest a light farm, but ultimately it's a bit of a crutch to make up for the lack of fundamental mechanics. truthfully, farm isn't very significant even in the highest level of play. for reference, the world record for no-farm is 1190.
i just saw ur 1237 after i died on my first playthrough figured might as well watch someone good play. came here just to say that was absolutely insane what i just saw. halfway trhough i noticed i had a big grin of amazement and confusion like what i was seeing so ridiculous and impressive that it was amusing as well.. not to mention the audio and visual effects make the game kinda trippy.. and im still kinda like wtf game did i just buy.. this is like nothing i've ever seen.. the audio really is something impressive. ur shockingly good and ur spatial awareness is supernatural
thanks. not really unless you consider dd an aim trainer. when i started focusing on my aim, i did study and doodle around in kovaaks for a couple hours, but i never grinded it. once i knew my problems, i went back to dd and put what i learned to practice.
como puede mantenerse vivo en los ultimos 2 minutos, mi cerebro no comprende lo que sucede, aunque explote la programación de los cráneos, es totalmente una locura, un genio.
My Best in 211. By then, I start to get overwhelmed and instead of keeping to the boundary of the level I end up running in tight circles, which gets me swarmed. I also try and kill the skulls as quickly as possible, instead of letting them form into a large mass that's easy to track and kill.
this game feels like the perfect mix of “oh my fucking fuck what the hell is happening what the fuck” and “ ah yes my skulls are ready to harvest, time to get some gems :D” and i love it
Just out of curiosity how many hours have you put into devil daggers. I’m pretty new just got it 2 weeks ago and my pb is 400 with like 36 hours on the game.
DUDE THATS INSANE, THE AVRAGE FOR GETTING A PB OF 350 IS 70 HOURES OF GAME TIME, like seriosly ive asked many peaple on how many houres they had at what points but 400 at 36 houres? Godspeed, godspeed to you
what mods do you have on this, axe? i've been trying to find something that brightens it up a bit like this, but i just can't seem to find the right one.
The leaderboard in game says youve extended the record to 1220. You gonna upload that? Also, as someone with less than an hour of playtime, what fov should i use and is it better to just try and eyeball a width on windowed or go windowed fullscreen? My pb is around right as the first cetipede shows up but now i cant get past 65-100 90+% of the time The reason i ask is because i keep losing track of where my aiming is Edit: was at work and misremembered the playtime. was 74m and am now at 101m playtime. also, i managed to finally beat my lucky pb and got a 159, but i died to the first centipede. all because i actually tried playing on windowed fullscreen and 100 fov
Ok ok ok, the short explanatsion for FOV is that the default is trash, and ya shud set it to 105-120, also turn gamma ALLL the way down, game on fullscreen HRTF on, and that shud get ya going fir settings Also i talk to axe on the DDPals discord and evry time i tell him to upload the new run he sais hes too boared to do it
@@matsvandendungen2608 *notes it down nodnod* though why exactly turn the gamma all the way down? EDIT: ooooooooh, makes the enemies brighter that way! looool
all skulls are faster than you in a straight line, even at full bhop speed. the catch is they have a fixed turn radius. skull3 still have a fixed turn radius, although it is tighter than other skulls. they can still be kited, although they leave you with fewer movement options. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yTQ0xapREEM.html check out the way sojk kites the skull3 in this nofarm replay
i'm farming gems. squids spit out a new swarm of skulls every 20 seconds, and the horned skull drops a gem. gems give you ammo for homing daggers later on, and the high level play is centered around managing this resource, as later in the run the spawns become an infinite loop that gets faster and faster, eventually becoming humanly impossible to clear without the aid of homing (around 700s is the first homing usage). it's not a huge boost of homing, but it helps, and it's super fun.
