Yeah if I recall correctly in an SBS, Oda said that devil fruits taste horrible and you only need to take a bite of one to gain its powers, but everyone eats the whole fruit for really no reason
@@fleurdeliseffxiv1580 Yeah, people just eat Devil Fruits whole most of the time because it’s relatively unknown that you only need to take a bite, due to how rare they (supposedly) are.
@@jimsmith3715 yeah but i was always saw it as he was worried for him not being able to understand the consequences of his actions, luffy loved to swim as a kid so that's why shanks tells him it makes you unable to swim for the rest of your life
@@esmeraldamoreno6537Luffy was never able to swim, not sure where this idea came from. He was barred from joining Shanks and told he would just be an anchor for them because of it. Eating the Devil Fruit meant he could never learn.
@@AshyMuted In the anime they said he was a great swimmer and said that that would make him a valuable member of Shank's crew, in the manga he's unable to swim. It's a useless detail, ig they felt it added to Shank's reaction, or the fact that he immediately jumped to sea.
Very cool method! I didn't think of using the melon itself as the mold as I wanted the entire thing to be edible. Your cake looks beautiful, well done.
Can't wait to see Sanji's seafood risotto, Cuisine a la carte, Navy Curry, Big Mom Wedding cake, Sangoro soba ramen, Katakuri Giant Donuts.... the list goes on
I'm glad Anime with Alvin stuck around as a series. Alvin is charming and quirky, and the stuff he makes looks super well-prepared (shout out to Kendall as well). Of the many series in the BCU, I hope this one stands the test of time.
Reminds me of a crème brûlée i got one time served inside of a pineapple. There was just enough fruit left on the inside to eat after you finished the cream part and because it had been baked and then chilled, it was extra sweet and juicy with a bit of caramelization on the edges.
Alvin does not get enough credit for how funny he is, I love it. Him saying "I am the melon now" after placing the stick on his hand made me laugh so hard
If you notice, Luffy's devil fruit ability has always made comical noises and cartoonish effects. Gear 5 makes so much sense, it's strange to me that some don't see it.
I have to say that, even though it wasn't intentional to the video, I do like the fact that you made an extra dish so that the food doesn't go to waste, as it fits with one of the themes of One Piece.
I like that you were as creative with your scraps as Babby sometimes is with his entire dishes. Taking the trifle and doing something cool and actually tasty with it was a really neat move that I probably never would have thought of.
On one hand, having a rubber body would give me several advantages as seen by Luffys fights. On the other hand, I really like swimming and I don't want to lose that!
Another reminder for everyone to READ One Piece. One Piece is one of the best if not the best Shonen series out there. It might sounds scary with how many chapters out there, but it's worth it. Read the manga, because the Anime has big pacing issue that make the show even longer than it already is.
I just received my manga band 101 and was checking out reviews of it on youtube. Then this was in my feed and I thought it's weird that I haven't seen it before but what a surprise it's new. Super happy to watch this one now :D
I agree I would have done that and put swirly fondant design over the peeled fruit so the whole thing is edible like an apple. Probably wouldn't have been as delicious though and I know they like to go the extra mile when prepping something for more content so I appreciate them doing this instead.
that probably wouldn't have worked well with the fondant, when you add fondant to a cake you can't use an icing underneath with too much liquid in it otherwise the fondant will weep and start to melt and leak liquid sugar everywhere, and since the melon has a lot of water in it, it probably would have done the same thing, but it would have been cool if it were possible!
Honestly I've been kinda iffy on whether I wanted to watch these videos (despite how much I love anime) but Alvin 100% makes these videos amazing and I am now going to binge watch all of these (which is legally the only way to refer to watching videos on this channel)
*"Legends say anyone who makes and eats this devil fruit does not gain any powers, it is also said that people who eat it will not lose there ability to swim"*
The anime is great but be careful that some of the episode will feel a bit dragged and also have fillers. If you don't have the time to watch all of it, google the episodes that are not fillers
Heyo, incase you do this again, for the exterior try boiled purple taro. You can thicken it with heavy cream and pastry icing. The only real concern would be it not getting thick enough 😊
I really loved this episode, I was delighted to see the creativity you put into this project! I had no idea how one would actually make a Devil Fruit, but you exceeded my expectations and made me have fun along the way! Thanks!
I'm glad to see a recipe from One Piece! The One Piece manga just celebrated its 25th anniversary, and there's still at least 3-5 years left before the series ends!
This cake turned out so cool. I might try to make one of my bestie for her birthday since she's obsessed with One Piece right now. I know a lot of people don't like fondant. I don't mind it, I liked i the first time I had it and I still don't mind it. But I saw Rosanna Pansino make marshmallow fondant a few years a go. It looked amazing. She said it tastes much better than regular fondant and it sounds delicious unless you hate marshmallows.
You can't "deactivate" gelatin with boiled water. You're thinking of yeast. The problem with adding boiling water to gelatin is simply that it will clump. It's better to add cool water, combine, then heat to dissolve the yeast.
Thank you for introducing me to the concept of an inverted fruit cake Alvin! I didn’t even know putting a cake inside a melon was a thing/possible. It’s absolutely gorgeous.
NO WAY! I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A PROPER RECIPE FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS FOR A WHOLE YEAR!!!!!!!! I remember being soo disappointed when you didn’t have one. I’m soo happy
My 3rd attempt to ask Alvin to make a dish from my favorite manga/anine of all time: Chuka Ichiban, pretty much the origin of Food Wars. It is an amazing manga that I read as a kid from my parents buying the Vietnamese translations of, and I would be really happy to see one of those dishes to appear in the series!
