The "Kyoufu wo oshiete yarou!" pre-fight animation was at its best in Tekken 5. The camera angle and the Cathedral lighting really made Devil Jin look and feel like a true supernatural monster.
@@rurounijay7100 Wrong actually. The subtitle is a mistranslation. "Kyoufo Oshiete arou" actually means "I will teach you to fear". The word "god" isnt even in the sentence.
@@xan187 Devil Jin is NOT ALWAYS defined by his pale skin and white eyes. Sometimes you may see a normal Jin, but his eyes are glowing RED, which does MORE THAN ENOUGH to convince you it's not the Jin you once knew.
Between Akuma’s red eyes, and Eliza’s unique eyes, pale skin, more prevalent tattoos, fangs and black lips too, other characters were given more details to allow them to stand out more, despite the budget cuts. Where this just wasn’t the case for Devil Jin at all for some reason in T7, even though they show him with white/yellow eyes in the main menu’s background, and his T7 character episode
To this day T5 devil jin is still the best version of him. His evil laugh in that game is just more sinster and evil. Where as great as T8 version is, it comes off as more anime villian.
what if your murderous father would laugh like that each time he challeneged you to tekken and sent you to the canvas with his same exact laugh going on here and put you in a coma for 55 years
I love that for Tekken 8, Bamco actually gave a toss about the character voices, recording a BUNCH of new ones, and re-recording old ones (apart from some iconic ones that are sticking around from prior games, like Kazuya's "Dorya"). That said, DJ's old laugh is a hard one to top.
It's been about 19 years since the Tekken 5 laugh unfortunately lol.. you can tell it's a bit of a stretch for him to recreate the laugh because the original sounded effortless
@@adobz8372 100%. I can understand if they felt like it was time for an update, but that little short laugh before the big high-pitched one made it perfect, and I kinda wish they kept that direction going.
@ArcienPlaysGames I agree. To be honest, I feel like their voice direction this time around is kinda lazy.. They should have just done a bunch of takes and went with the most similar to the original 🤔 the Devil Jin/Bryan laughs are super iconic. Luckily, Devil Jin sounds like himself still, Bryan just sounds like Evil Krusty the Clown in Tekken 8
@@adobz8372 THIS! I miss the old, more gutteral and brute-ish Bryan voice (and the laugh too of course, big agree). Evil Krusty is bang on, and I can never unhear that now lmao
bro have u even seen his interactions??? the gameplay? that design just demolished everything. T5 dvj got white eyes, thats cool but everything else is spot on@@felipedeandrade
@@PyroInferno110are you trolling dude ? t5 is the best by far far far , t8 devil jin is just jin with red eyes ... In in tekken 5 he looks truly demonic , also in t8 his laugh is a clown laugh 😂🤡
dont get me wrong, tekken 8 dj looks fking amazing but something about tekken 5, really looks like a devil. he actually looks both badass and creepy. his skin is more pale with a mix of ash, theres alot of weird blackish veins like his gloves are stuck to his skin, add the cathedral theme and area look too. compared to tk 6-7 he seriously looked like an unlockable boss character. tekkem 8 was the fitst time in a long time that he gave off that vibe.
Tbf those eyes would just be ogres eyes which still would be badass, because in that ending you knew devil jin meant business like he didn't just want to fight he wanted to kill.
@@brandonspringfield2861 Yeah I remember Jin's T3 Ending and you're right but it's weird how in T5 Devil Jin's first appearence they went with the white iris instead of the red But still I don't understand why they can't stick to a one eye colour, I think it's a Japanese artist thing, it's like how they can't be consitant with Ken Masters eye colour.
the only problem is that after tekken 5 Devil Jin started to look like Jin instead of DEVIL himself. T8 looks like a anime vampire villain, he needs to be more of that tekken 5
For me, Tekken Tag 2 is really well done, even the canines which aren't there in other Tekken. But I really like DVJ in Tekken 8, he looks like a demon.
Now know what he's talking about, I cannot for the life of me get behind the subtitles not being exactly what some of them say. "Kyoufu wo oshiete yarou!" should properly be translated as "I will teach you fear!"
The dumbest part is that Kazumi says the exact same line Tekken 7 and they actually translate it correctly for her, but it’s still wrong for DJ In that game
Tekken 5 still does the laugh win pose the best. its the full grin showing all his teeth with his eyes wide open with pure joy and insanity. its not as good in Tekken 8 but still better than 6 or 7
if some of u don't know, subtitle translation is in fact incorrect. He actually says "let me teach you what fear is" yes it is long and he says it short but i gave a close to real translation 😅
i will never understand why namco decided to drop soul calibur in favor of a copy pasted game with satanic topics like devils and underage girls (and the girls barely reached legal age in tekken8).
