I mean, if someone who looked almost identical to my dead mom came bursting through a wall on a motorcycle I'm not entire sure I would have the ability to process anything more complicated than, "must keep looking cool till this all makes sense"

I enjoyed this way back in the day, but I still feel like the series didn't really find itself until 3. The first one doesn't quite have all the pieces in place just yet; Dante mixes in a lot of hokey sincerity alongside his trademark cockiness, there's a lot of Resident Evil left in there from early development, and the wonderful weapon swap system hasn't been cooked up yet. 2 is widely viewed as hot garbage. 3 is where we get Dante's permanent voice actor moving forward, a more consistent sense of tone, the style system, the smooth weapon swapping, and our first proper introduction to Vergil. Nothing against 1, but 3 set the benchmark for me.
Imo, DMC1 should be more viewed as a Hideki Kamiya game than a "DMC game." Devil May Cry -> Viewtiful Joe -> Okami -> Bayonetta feels like a far more natural progression than DMC1 -> DMC2 -> DMC3, since all three of those games have different directors.
This game is a lot more emotional if you play or at least watch the cutscenes of Devil May Cry 3 first, as well as read the prequel stuff. Honestly, I recommend people watch the "Complete Unabridged Timeline of Devil May Cry" by EruptionFang, and every time he gets to the story of a game, you watch the cutscenes of that game. It really makes them hit so much harder.
After seeing DMC 3, this is confusing. Cause I thought 3 was the origin of how Devil May Cry came to be, and Vergil was still alive in that one. But here, they're saying that Vergil died. Unless they're only saying that because they released this first, that makes no sense

I have quite controversial opinion about this game (this one not franchise). Looks of scenes 10/10 just gorgeous, music 10/10, everchanging camera? 3/10 yeah it´s old style whatever but for me, hell nah. plot? where is plot? 1/10 it´s like adult movie trying to have some kind of plot...this is pure action with speck of plot. Sorry but this game could be so much more...
You guys be crazy. The DMC Dante was fantastic! Not as much of a cheese ball. Different strokes though and whatever you dig. That's why there's opinions
louhazosc I don’t think DMC Dante is as bad as some make him out to be, but I found he was a bit stale in comparison to the original. Sure, the original was cheesy, but he was more laidback and likeable in my opinion.
Plot of DMC 6: Mundus finally returns. With Dante and Vergil stuck in the Underworld Nero must fight with Lady and Trish to defeat the evil devil once and for all
How is Mundus sneaking out of the Underworld without bumping into Dante and Vergil? Surely they'd be able to sense each other, with how powerful they've become.
