While everyone's loving Bury the Light, I'm still stuck on this BEAST.

Even as a husk of who he was... *Vergil still knew how to kick ass*

First time I saw angelo, I just knew the guy was badass. And despite his demonic visage, his offer of going to the courtyard so we have enough room to fight made me respect him. And as the music began, I was fully expecting something mid evil, dark and full of opera, but then it exploded into the pulsing, frantic rythm, and I fell in love with the series.

its a very odd thing to see your favorite DMC character get weirdly popular suddenly out of the blue. I know vergil has always been a fan favorite but they don't typically like when he was Nelo Angelo.

Looking back, Nelo Angelo still gives three of the best fights in DMC history and in action games in general. I miss this guy, even though I don't want my favorite character to suffer in enslavement.

It’s amazing how Dante has gained all these upgrades and has gotten a lot stronger. But Vergil pretty much stayed the same when he revived and was still able to combat Dante with the Yamato. Vergil loved his brother so much that he stayed in hell extremely tired and weak after fighting Dante. I’m pretty sure he knew what was waiting for him (Mundus) only reason why Vergil lost was because he was extremely tired. I’m pretty damn sure he wants his rematch as well.

Vergil was captured by Mundus at the end of Devil May Cry 3, brainwashed into serving him and became Corrupted Vergil. This caused him have the Nelo Angelo form.

Even before he was "vergil" as we know him, he had the best boss fights in his game

The Alpha And The Omega Vergil

Even if he was Vergil all along, Nelo Angelo specificly is my favourite character in DMC. When he invited us to an open space to fight him, I respected him. And when he was standing on top of that roof and his theme started playing, I was so pumped. And that same feeling of respect and hype stayed every time I had to fight him. And the fights themselves were so awesome. And his design was of course "absolute"

I didn't actually play DMC 5 until after Special Edition came out because I started gradually playing the games through the pandemic; I took long enough breaks between that I'd speculate about what the other games did a lot and I tried to avoid seeing anything of them here. I did see this video's thumbnail however while playing reboot after 4 and that gave me a completely false impression that Vergil was going to come back as he does in the Nelo Angelo 3rd fight sort of with the corrupted Vergil appearance his costumes in 3/4 give for DMC 5. I was honestly pretty disappointed at first by how unlike Nelo Angelo Urizen looked. I thought maybe after Mundus and Argosax were defeated that they'd somehow merge into Vergil [felt obvious enough he'd be fully reincarnated by the end of 5 since they went through all the effort of designing new moves for him in 4's special edition]. I am glad I did play reboot going up to 5 because 5 feels as though it was effectively obligated to justify both 4 and the reboot existing for better or for worse. It does feel pretty good in the end now, the only thing I really don't like is having the Eva putting Dante in a cupboard cutscene. That still managed to be less hamfisted than the terrible ghost Eva scenes in reboot and *especially* the DLC TL;DR - The thumbnail for this vid made me imagine a nice alternate timeline where Urizen was more directly a large corrupted Vergil - Nelo Angelo before I played 5, which was fun to think about
