To finish this small collection of Devil may Cry lore videos, this week we are covering the lore of the MAIN protagonist of this series. This week we get into the lore of Dante.
With this, I'm taking a little break from Devil May Cry. Doing 4 videos in a row about the same game is a little draining. Plus, I feel like I know way more about this game than I should. So the next Honest Gaming History video will cover something outside of the Devil May Cry series.

They never said it, but that's the only way the final fight would make sense. Sin DT is stronger than regular DT so it would only make sense if Vergil has Sin DT to combat Dante's Sin DT

OK, I get why you don't count the Nelo Angelo and Urizen fight, but just for fun, I'll count them. Pre-DMC3: Virgil - 1 Dante - 0 DMC3: Virgil - 2 Dante - 1 DMC1: Virgil - 3 Dante - 3 DMC5: Virgil - 5 Dante - 5 Though technically, if you count Dante fighting V's familiars, it's actually: Virgil - 5 Dante - 8 And if you wanna go even further, Vergil said that if he beats Nero, he beats Dante, but sense he lost, it's actually: Virgil - 5 Dante - 9 And honestly... neither of these seem all that fair, so...yeah, those 2(well, "4", but you get my point) don't count. Wait, didn't Vergil say that they're even? Wow...he actually kept count. Even while being mind controlled and(figuratively and literally) split in half, he _still_ kept count. Now _that's_ true dedication.

Fun fact dante and virgel can return. The reason is in the light novel where dante helps an old friend and gets a new weapon but looses the ice dog nunchuks. And btw the reason they can return is because of yamato the sword that virgel has

My beef with DMC5 is that Urizen broke rebellion with one punch befor he ate the fruit, but then Dante merger Rebellion and Sparda and awoke the Sin dt, so why wasn't Yamato destroyed? And and why didn't Yamato evolve? It's part of the whole SDT package.

Great video you miscounted their fights: Vergil wins first fight in the manga, Vergil beats him round 1 in dmc3, they tie round 2 in DMC3, Dante wins the last fight in DMC3. V = 2 D = 1 T = 1 In DMC1 Nelo beats Dante first fight in DMC1, but Dante wins the second and last round DMC1. V = 3 D = 3 T = 1 In DMC5 Urizen beats Dante in his base form, Urizen beats Dante in his Devil trigger, Urizen beats Dante with his fathers sword amping him, then Dante beats Urizen with his new sword in Devil Trigger in the next two fights. And then when Vergil returns to being his true badass self. Their fight was incuncluded so their fight ends in a draw. So: Vergil = 6 Dante = 5 Ties = 2 But now that count is even hell because they cant decided a winner lol!

I feel you. I kept some fights out since in some of them the character wasn't really Vergil. Like for example, Nelo Angelo wasn't revealed as Vergil till the third fight. But if I was doing a full count then yes. you would be right.

Sparda died of natural causes after Vergil and Dante turned 7 a year later is when Mundus launched his attack against Sparda's family and of course the rest you know some speculate that's Sparta power was waning after his battle with Mundus and sealing the Temme Ne Gru

After the events of devil may cry 2 Dante not only gets lost in hell but he also ends up in the universe of shin megami tensei 3 nocturne, helps a kid fight Lucifer and gets back home in time for devil may cry 4.... That's actually Canon by the way

I could explain every bit of simbolism that you missed the point in every game (even the fact that Dante was depressed by losing his brother a Second time, and that why he was so boring in 2) but If i do i would stay here for ages with timestamps and would sound patronising. Well in the wiki I read it said he died. However no matter how much research I did I couldn't find out exactly how he died. It might've been from natural causes, but I'm not sure. So I said "disappeared" just in case.

Sparda is purposely a mystery but it’s been hinted at that he has died. The fact that anyone willing to go through the amount of hoops you have to to gain his power is proof as if he was alive only HE would be able to use Sparda and his abilities. However there are theories that he’s been watching over his sons and grandsons the entire time and “guiding” them which would explain Nero’s random ass power up in 3 even tho he doesn’t have a Devil Arm. However it’s been only hinted at by the main lore that he’s Dead and in some case “being held captive”

I feel like Dante and Vergil lied about the fact that they can't return. Vergil can easily take them back to earth by opening a portal with Yamato. So they aren't ACTUALLY trapped at all. That thing can cut through DIMENSIONS after all... But I get that this is meant to be the reason for the Sons of Sparda arc ending. So I accept it. Just kinda stupid lmao.

@@TheBlackMastadonte Maybe they feel like that's where they truly belong? Remember when Dante got trapped in the underworld in 2? He wasn't scared or nothin. He was all like "Oh fuck yeah let's go deeper!" So maybe they're just fine living there.

He only used Yamato in the past to draw Demonic Power from it, but even then he's SEEN Vergil create portals right in front of him. I dunno. If anything I'd say it's either an intentional choice of Dante and Vergil to not come back, or that's a plothole. xD

My only question is why Dante and Vergil unlock their true devil forms earlier than DMC5 Especially when Dante was Previously stabbed with the rebellion.

Theres probably specific requirements. Like a specific amount of power or something. My headcannon here so i could be completely wrong, but i think in dmc3, dante was only strong enough to unlock regular devil trigger by being impaled by rebellion. By dmc5, hes powerful enough in base form to unlock his sin devil trigger. Just my headcannon, again. It would REALLY help the stories if they explained a bit more about this stuff lol

Yeah it doesn't really make any sense. Technically speaking, Dante unlocked his Sin Devil Trigger in the manga too. However that scene is questionable.

Like literally nothing lol Maybe it just lacks proper explanation. Or maybe a koalas brain can comprehend demonic powers. Either way, dmc is dope af.

Maybe they have to have the intention of going full demon form. I think the main reason why it worked for Dante that time is because he did it with the intentions of getting more power
