During my stay in Tokyo, I met up with Simon and Martina to try the soba challenge, stay tuned for that video on Strictly Dumpling. Later on a different day, Chonny and Dalena joined me to try the highly recommended super spicy devil ramen. And one thing that I've always wanted to try is an expensive fruit in Japan. Was it worth it? YES :o That was the greatest fruit I have ever had in my life.

Apparently the restaurant's theme is devils, so they have these little devil cartoon characters and masks all over the walls. I think the flute music is something that's usually played at festivals and has some kind of connection with the devil character.

This just inspired me to make something new. I had some leftover nam prik ong (a Thai pork chili) and a package of instant raman. I combined this with some vinegar, soy, hot sauce and a thin-sliced dried ancho chili pepper. But the secret ingredient? A tablespoon of peanut butter. Made the whole thing with a bit less water than usual and added the ong and peanut butter after about a minute of cooking the rest (with 1/2 of the flavor packet from the instant raman). Oh man! So good! Thanks for the inspiration!

I read a while back that a lot of times the beautiful shaped melons are often grown to use as decoration or for gifts but not always for the taste so you are lucky the melon tasted so good and juicy.
