Here's a very rare one by The De Villes. Thanks to Paul Keyser for pointing out that this is a Jersey City group. The Arrawak label was a tiny operation from the Bronx that recorded at least one other group that I know of - The Del-Aires.
Interesting cover of the Maharajahs 45 on Flip

These guys were from my street way back in Jersey City . We recorded our single the same day they recorded theres.. I was about 14 & managed by the same people. My group was last to go into the studio. We had only 15 minuets to record. That was when I said when I grow up Im gonna be a record producer myself. And so I did 1st the Superlatives,Soul Generations, Kool and the gang, Jimmy Briscoe and the Beavers , Rhyze. The Weather Girls, Stylistics,Chi-Lites , to name a few. I am Paul Kyser

Paul Kyser--I was selfish listening to this cool,wonderful song. Now I have read your quiet post. You are an American heritage person in the music industry--An industry that has had much negative publicity. Maybe deservedly so? Paul Kyser it is so amazing to see your communication.

I've only begun to scratch the surface. I have a lot of crazy rare stuff like this. When most collectors would pass up some 45 by The DeVilles they never heard of to grab a Scarlets 45 on Red Robin, I go after the strange, unknown thing.

I was a member for a short period of time with New Haven's The Premiers with lead singer Roger Koob. I was a member of the song "She gives me fever" back in the day. I remember this great Jersey group along with other Jersey doo-wop groups as well.

Hey PJDooWop I first sung with a group called the Valitors we recorded but no releases. The session with the DeVilles my group was called The Variations. We go no record release. When I was a senior at Snyder High school in Jersey City I sung with a group called the School Boys (not the one that did Please say you want me) In that group in high school Jeffery Burgess of the Soul Generation sung with me. He was our Baritone. Paul Kyser

Also on Arrawak: (Lorraine and) The Socialites from The Bronx. I don't remember much about them, but the Arrawak label for their song "Jimmy" was green. They later recorded for Mercury. Sadly, Lorraine Anthanio Lofaso died from ALS in January 2015.

The Socialites were from The Bronx. They all attended Grace Dodge High School on Crotona Ave, right by the Bronx Zoo. They recorded between 1962 and '64. Lorraine Anthanio (lead), Kym Trant, Eloise Covington, Gloria Meggett and Dolores Rainey. Lorraine went on to sing Jazz and Opera. Sadly, Lorraine passed away from complications of ALS on January 6, 2015. Lovely lady!

Hey Paul.. Nice to hear from you. I'm a BIG fan of your productions. Jimmy Briscoe and The Little Beavers as well as Soul Generation are two of my favorite groups. I didn't know The DeVilles were from Jersey City. Arrawak was a tiny Brooklyn label, so I assumed they were from Brooklyn as well. If you don't mind me asking, what group were you in back at that time? Did you release a record from that studio session?

Is there a rip of NO MONEY out there somewhere? I had this record but at the moment I can't find it. No Money was the reason I bought the record in the first place and I would love to hear that tune again. Perhaps I am one of the few who have it because I grew up in JC and I lived right across the street from a record store.....

Thank you! Great info .There isn't a lot of information available about this group. I at first assumed they were from the Bronx, as well as your group. It amazes me how a tiny Bronx record label got hooked in so tight with Jersey City. I recently found an Alan Fredericks album on the same label, and as you probably know he was from NJ as well. Paul Keyser who went on to produce "Soul Generation" and some other beauties was at this session. Did your group record at this session as well?
@doowoptm

That Allan Fredericks album was The Night Train show. I have it, and got it back in the 70's. Used to listen to his show every Thursday or Wednesday night in my room. Great show, Great DJ, and Great Album.
