I'd love going to a party where nothing but music from this era was playing. Through in a little Johnny Maestro and Pookie Hudson and it would be a hell of a party.
Of their 2 releases this is my favorite. Per the previous comment re black label, I collected for many years and never saw it on a black label. I do believe this was 2nd pressed but don't remember the label design. There was talk back in the early 80's that this was also released on red wax, but I never saw it. In any case, a tremendous group record that still stands up today.
HELLO PJ,HONESTLY,I DO NOT KNOW WHICH IS GREATER, YOUR UPLOADS OR YOU!!!.THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED CONTRIBUTION[S] TO THE WORLD VIA THIS MEDIUM! TOM,DIDDYBOPPER49
Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, everything has an end. The good news is we're only about 1/4 the way through my collection and I'm always buying new stuff, so this may take a while lol
Oh yeah.. This is a classic. Didn't really take off in the 60's, but got really popular in the NY Metro later on through the efforts of Gus Gossert, Ronnie I and Don K. Reed
Jesus said you is dead , why , in the moment of silence in my own mind , my thought was that Jesus I had died the day You deid , meaning You tasted death for Me and yoU and Jesus You saved my life forever , Dead to Sin
WOW...this gem has it all...it just makes me want to be in Brooklyn...at the Brooklyn Paramount where Allen Freed put his Rock-n-Roll shows together.... Many thanks for posting...worth a dozen listens!!! Wayne in Texas
what a terrific side! thank you, PJ. tom d brick, n j formerly of Newark, n j. where I was schooled in and learned all about DOO WOP and because of contributors like yourself, I am now attending "college". thank you , thank you.
The A-Side is a decent uptempo record. I feel that it should have been the B side though. It sounds more like a common "throwaway" flipside than this side which is a doo wop masterpiece.
Gosh this is so great. What a time to be born and listen to such gret doowop. And too think I lived in this era,and can,t remember thee great songs.Hell,I thought they would last forever. They were just that good, they could not be any songs made any better, and guess what there have never been.
PJ, just heard this for the first time today....WOW. A near-perfect doowop song, in my book. I knew from the first few bars I loved this tune. Now, I just need to find a copy on 45! From what you have said, that may take a while...
I like origs. as much as the next guy but some of this stuff gets so technical and vague that sometimes it's better to just enjoy the music. Thanks for your reply and input.
I was told a long time ago (probably in the 90's) that there's a black label variation of this and it's the first. What you're saying makes sense since I've never seen a black label for this
