Devils Fork State Park - Kayaking Lake Jocassee & Hiking Oconee Bell Nature Trail - SC State Parks
This is one of my favorite South Carolina State Parks so I was happy to go back and spend time at Devil's Fork State Park to get my Ultimate Outsider Stamp.
First of all I rented a kayak from Eclectic Sun Paddlesports and spent some time on Lake Jocassee. Lake Jocassee offers beautiful views - you can even paddle to some waterfalls.
Next I changed my Chacos to Hiking Shoes and headed to the Oconee Bell Trail. Unfortunately I missed this year's bloom of the rare Oconee Bell Flower but it was a beautiful loop trail that was just over a mile in length.
Finally I took some time to enjoy the beach and cooled off in Lake Jocassee.
This is one of the most popular South Carolina State Parks. If you are planning a visit I recommend going on a weekday morning. It gets crowded on weekends and you can expect long lines when entering the park. The park has limited parking and reaches parking capacity.
