The coolest part of all this is the fact that he did it in Atlanta, with Deion in the building, on the night Deion was put in the ring of honor, and for the whole world to see.
@@lonzobull684 funny how people think God helps football players score tds while letting children starve to death all over the world. Stop it. That sounds ridiculous.
I've know Devin my whole life. He has idolized Deion Sanders since we were in Elementary School at West Riviera. This was emotional for me to watch because I've seen the passion he shares for sports by playing basketball with him in middle school and rec ball. I'm super proud of you bro for having a dream to play pro football and now living it.
Deion was just showing compassion, respect, and admiration to a young man that had looked up to him since he was a child..he saw Deion change his ways and followed that example. It's nice he took some time to compliment him where it really matters...for the man he is off the field. Awesome record. I don't see it being broken in our lifetime.
Man Deion gonna make me cry. Hester really looks up to him. When he said he was gonna get that 20th return for him, nobody in the NFL could've stopped him. Pure determination mixed with speed and teammates that have your back is always a deadly combo for the opposition. I'm a Pats fan but I'm happy for Devin. Moments like this is what the game is about in it's purest form. Forget the money. This is what they all started playing for.
1985 Charles Barkley it wouldn't have mattered, it's a penalty of yardage applied to the subsequent kickoff. the TD counted and the record was broken, right?
I'm not a Falcons fan, but when I saw Hester going in high steps (with his hand on the helmet) to the end zone, just like Deion used to do, I almost cried. He's a great guy and the record couldn't be in better hands.
As a Bears fan... and a NFL fan in general, I feel blessed to have seen literally every return by Hester... He has always been exciting to watch and to see that last night really made me feel glad to be a fan of such a great sport!
I hope he goes to Canton. He's one of my all-time favorite players. The man could change games by himself. What special teams player could ever say that? Never mind the returns, all the great field position he would give the bears even if he didnt touch the ball. The thought of kicking to him was nightmare. Awesome awesome player.
Really great moment with both Deion Sanders and Devin Hester. If anybody deserved to break that record it was Devin Hester. Just seeing that moment happen almost brought me to tears too.
Any kid born in the early 1980s and loved football looked up to Deion Sanders. Seeing that he mentored a man who is my age and was able to achieve this return TD record that I thought was unbreakable is tremendous. The moment is even greater when these two African men show their emotion in reflecting on their times and struggles together. This is as manly and passionate as anything else in sports and even with all that has been exposed in the NFL recently with its criminals, this shows what is at the core of the game especially for athletes who come from poverty. Black pride, black love, in solidarity...
You idiot, how do you not know I'm not African, Afro-Caribbean, or Native American and relate to these guys due to that? Just 'cause I pointed out their race does not make me some corny, liberal white boy from San Francisco who wants to declare online his love for "colored people".
What an absolutely awesome moment. Really wish they could have shared it privately because you can tell it's a pretty emotional moment for both of them! Extremely raw emotion right here man
As a bears fan, all I could is smile.. as a guy in his mid 20's, their aren't many players left that you admired growing up in any league.. this was just great, also the moment lovie an hester had together
As a young black male this was all I ever wanted growing up as a adolescent from a male mentor just in my corner sayin “I love you” “I respect you” IM SO PROUD OF YOU” I never had a dad so this is where I come to get my motivation I know he saying it to Hester but just hearing primetime say it so inspiring I feel he was talk to all the young black kids with dream congrats D.Hester on the record and thank you Primetime for the inspiration on a national platform REAL MEN 💯❤️
I hear you. As a a Father and a man that's worked with a lot of kids, I know how important it is for children to receive this type of love and praise. I didn't have this from any man growing up. I wish I did but I can only give it forward.
I always thought Deion Sanders was kind of a pompous jerk but after watching this and hearing he has been so supportive of up and coming players I have had to change my opinion. His display of genuine emotion and the encouraging words were not only heartfelt but very classy. I am glad I stumbled across this video. With all the crap going on in the league it is a good reminder there are classy players in the league and they should be celebrated.
That was about a lot more than football. The secret to coming so far is to never look down, every once in a while, it's alright to stop, take time out, and look how far you guys have come together. Beautiful moment.
I love this show of compassion and respect between these two. Genuine human beings showing pride and respect and love. I wish the fans in the background were listening to Deion and Devin instead of carrying on with their chanting and belligerent yelling.
Obi-Wan and Luke right there. The apprentice just became the Master. I can't imagine the feeling of being just as great as the man you looked up to your whole life and who was the reason you do what you do, just to have that same man pass the torch to you. Wow.
Truly a special night. Not only did Devin do it in Atlanta with Deion in the building, Lovie was also there as the opposing coach. I'm sure Lovie was just as honored to see it even if it was against him.
Yea that same cutler who threw four td's to beat the niners last sunday lol blah! Hester didn't want to be in chicago with the new system, whatever, hes an all time great but its not like we don't have the tools on offense.
Hester and Deante Hall were the greatest return men I've ever seen. Hester has like 19 career returns for td's which is sickening and I believe an NFL record. He really deserves the hall of fame.
Devin Hester is a great player and from the looks of it, a great guy. And that seems rare in the NFL these days....to be a great player AND a great guy. lol.
The Falcons are a pretty fun team to watch as a non-Falcons fan. With Devin Hester that is. He is a game changer with just being a kick returner by itself. And then you add that offense on top of it. Fun to watch. Not always rooting for them, but fun to watch. I'm a diehard Bucs fan so I was rooting for my team to kick the Falcons asses this game, and things didn't turn out so well that night. But if weren't for the bad penalty calls from the refs I think we would had this one.
Deion made sure Hester stayed in his lane, He pushed for him to be WR, used to his show to say pay the man constantly, he couldn't keep up with the playbook and ran horrible routes. He was a secondary player in college, deion felt threatened.
Ok people. Let me lay this out for you. Hester had 6 returns his rookie year...5 the next...then nothing from 08-10 bc they tried to make him a wifde reciever. 2011-2014 hes had another 9...just imagine if he returned kicks and punts in 08'-10'...maybe tack on another 4-6 returns???...plus add up all the other nullified or called back returns bc of stupid penalties?...hester is undoubtedly the greatest player to ever touch the turf while returning kicks...and for the record...while this is a history moment at 20 returns all time,...hesters most memorable return was in superbowl XLI....not only was he a rookie, but man, hes done what everyone else has failed to do in the 85+ nfl seasons before he came into the league.
