Those are beautiful paintings. He’s got a great mindset. I don’t know if people have to be delusional to be wildly successful. They probably need a good combination of drive, talent, connections, optimism, and being in the right place at the right time. I kind of think that sounds daunting, but maybe persistence and an open mind help people find an opportunity when they least expect it. I could learn a lot from a person like this. It’s good to hear someone who had a great story and really developed a skill out of some serendipitous turns of events. I think religious history is one of the more thought provoking subjects, and it’s cool to hear that this guy connected with someone else over that.

He's an incredible artist. And I think we're saying the same thing. When I say you have to be delusional, I more meant that you have to be delusional to everyone else. You believe in going in a different kind of direction and maybe you never even tried it before and you definitely don't have any evidence that people will even like it. But you're right. It's just having that inner belief that of course it will work. How could it not? Everyone I've interviewed has had that one thing in common.

It's my fault. I totally fucked up. My editor uploaded it yesterday and it went live for like 20 mins before I caught it and rescheduled it for this morning. I should have deleted and reuploaded it. Now, the algo hates the video because they see a video that's been up for 24 hours that has like no views. so, no one got a notfication. So, I need your guy's help on this one. We need to push it out there and get the algo liking it.

37:39 Intimacy vs. Performance. Sometimes I record special moments with my dog, I don't have social media so I don't have nowhere to post, and still I catch myself performing (sucking my stomach, saying something funny, catching a better angle) and it irks me. Sometimes I am writing in my journal and I catch myself over explaining, in case "someone" reads it someday. Imaginary audience. Social media definitely does strange things to our brains. I like not having social media, but at the same I fear I'm missing out on something. I need to figure shit out haha.

I'm glad you liked that part. That's the part that stuck with me the most. It's such a deep insight. And you're not the only one. We all do it. I think that being aware of it is definitely important. For me, it's kind of part of the job. But I also keep a lot of my life, private. Like family stuff. But even then, I want to make sure the lighting is right always! haha. But I also recognize how ridiculous I am at the same time. Long story short, when the camera is on, we all suck it in! Haha.
