The excessive bullying in the setup is hard to watch, even when it's Devon himself doing it. Rounds are taking 5+ minutes just to get a single ready go, and it just becomes 'refuse to start the round until you know you have some sort of unfair advantage'
I've been watching armwresting for 20 years. It's literally always been this way. Devon is more vocal, but he's doing the same exact things everyone else always has.
@user-hn9qw7ou8d it was happening long before Devon was at the top of the heap. Newbies always love to assume what used to be. Same thing happens with fans of all strength sports. It's pretty comical to those of us who've been around for a while.
Hanging onto someone's arm after a round is over should have major consequence. This is like if in an MMA fight the bell rings and as one guy is walking to his corner the opponent sucker punches him as he walks away. This is highly unacceptable. It's one thing to play the "Heel" role to get people riled up but that needs to start and stop at the beginning and ending of a round, otherwise you're just being a legitimate a$$hole and nobody supports that. It makes the sport's integrity and the legitimacy of Armwrestling seem less when the refs aren't doing their jobs. it's one thing for an arm fighter to make mistakes but when the officials are doing it, it makes the whole event seem like a joke or there's some type of favoritism happening.
Yeah, auden needs to cool his jets a bit. I try not to be too judgmental on young dudes under 25 or so. I know I wasn't the best behaved at that age. Lol.
He got from his father when he did chaffe in 2019 and even against Levan as well in 2022 and 2024 as well not to mention against some guys here and there.

He doesn't NEED to do this stuff to be a great Arm-wrestler. The kid has potential, and I was young once too so I know he's still a kid and kids do dumb stuff, so I won't just give up on him yet as a viewer.

i played soccer for 6 years competitively, if i started swearing at the refs and trying to undermine them, i would of been kicked off my team and banned from soccer.
What pressure were the refs in? Auden is a new guy, forget that he's Devon's son and treat him like you do everyone else, he hasn't got anything to his name to be "fearful" of reffing, put him in his place. It's the fear of Devon they have nothing else You can be a crap AW but mighty powerful on the table and destroy people, Lupkes was one example, one of the worst techniques who did no table time at his peak except gymming and ran through people because of his sheer power, imagine if there was the facilities of teaching technique back then which we have today
What are you talking about. He IS Devons sons. If he weren't this match wouldn't be getting 1% of the hype that it is and Auden wouldn't getting 1% of the hate he is. If we did as you say and treat him like he isn't, we wouldn't even be talking about this match, in fact it would have never even been on the card.
Devon came off PEDs (or reduced his stack and doses) = less muscle mass Devon rapidly lost weight with a diet + a week of not eating = loss of muscle mass Devon will need to get back to eating at or above maintenance diet and train for awhile to regain some muscle mass to then get his strength back a bit before any supermatch
Any movement in a refs should be a foul. It’s already supposed to be but I’ve never seen it enforced at the pro level. Which is where it really matters.

the one that needs to grow up is you. The players play the game that is offered them. the ref takes responsibility for any problems during the match. be mad at the ref or the organization (or yourself)
It doesn't make any sense that Engin would need a blood transfusion. Even if he did, they have plenty of blood in Turkey. Meaningless gesture from Devon just for attention/virtue signalling.
Refs just have to tell them when they come to the table , " I will foul you out , IDC who you are." Then proceed to call a tight match . You move in the ref's grip , false start .....that's a foul. Guys listen after they lose a round or two .
more attention on the referees and how they do their job is not acceptable at this level to have such mistakes.. it is off-putting to the fans and people who watch the sport
I think Auden deserves some blame after that performance. James is right to focus on the refs but Auden did himself no favors. Cleary he is learning both the best and the worst from his father.
Like Brzenk said to Devon Larratt in their KoTT buildup match, Devon prefers submissive refs. John also mentioned that Devon's statistics of starting on the good side of the strap is very interesting.
Todd just meant that he believes Prudnik is better technique wise. He is better on the table with his technique etc. Devon is stronger. Or at least was.

Ironically Devon is the more technical arm wrestler, but Prudnik has more raw power going sideways on the first go. Perhaps Todd thinks of that as being a “better arm wrestler” considering Todd himself just pulls relentlessly sideways himself.
Brad saying that they don’t need to match him with money it’s a great strategy for them to fall for it and pull him. All those guys have much more to lose vs Brad . Brad doesn’t need a win he just needs a solid performance and he got his ticket to the next international event $$$ he s a smart dude
You are proud that heat is directed towards referees? Have you ever reffed a bigger supermatch event yourself? 90% of referees are there voluntarily, and if not, the pay is probably barely enough for food that day. I can tell you EVERY REF misses movement in refs grip, calls go on ugly starts and misses fouls for every event. Calling that 'unprofessional behaviour' is disgusting. For everything else, its not a referee's job to help you get a good setup, that's why it is usually referred to as NEGOTIATION. Everyone in the sport should be grateful that there are some crazy people that basically do hours of unpaid high pressure work while simultaneously being the most hated guy in the room. And everybody else, if it's so easy why dont you do it. I know some pros that have been armwrestling for YEARS and cant even pass the basic certificate. Bunch of internet warriors, including you.
Devon will beat Grundy on the right 5-0, worse than Matt beat Grundy on the left. Yes Grundy beats Chance, and Chance was pinning Devon but we dont know if that was a fresh Devon, or if he had been pulling for hours already.
Devon, after Levan, is an untested armwrestler and hence ignore his past achievements. Observations seem to indicate that he's struggling tremendously with strength.

Enough respect to James for backing up Auden, a real gentleman, i totally agree with him, the refs weren't forceful enough, but thats nothing to do with Auden. Auden did exactly what he should have, and won. I enjoyed the match, but i think these top flight events need to have top flight refs to match. (Okay if you dont want to use the same refs as EvsW, why not try the ladys from knuckles up? They were decent. Just an idea.) 💪
I have no problem with what Auden did. He took what the ref gave him. Fighting for the set up is important this day and age. As far as the ref. Well, he didn't do a great job. That's not Auden's fault.
I think another example of refs encouraging bad behaviour is the Kamil vs Devon match. No matter what Devon did in the setup, Kamil was blamed. Even when Devon did a false start and pinned Kamil the ref was trying to find a reason not to foul him and put the blame on Kamil. It was hard to watch and I don't think it makes for very enjoyable matches. Almost none of the top pullers in any weight category behave like Devon in the setup. And if anyone tries to beat Devon in the setup, they usually have to deal with both his and his wife's excessive whining and complaining until the refs just give up and let Devon start in an advantageous position.
Ehh, it is just a lot of sour grapes. The armwrestling world is full of it. Auden beat James, and that's that. People will get their knickers in a twist over something else soon enough.

Devons behavior on the table severely hurt arm wrestling in north America, Who wants to participate in a "sport" when you have no chance because cheating is considered whatever you have to do to win instead of wrong. It's not just the responsibility of the refs it's an overall moral responsibility to the sport. Trans athletes aren't ok but cheating is

James is being the biggest cry baby, it’s pretty clear he’s never competed at the pro level against guys who try and get away with sketchy setups, it’s part of the sport and if James wants to continue to cry about it he needs to consider not taking part in the sport.
If AW want to be a real professional respected sport and not just a cantina game with bets then it needs to clean and get straight its referee game. Referees should be respected at all times and armwrestlers who dont respect the referee should be kicked out. A limited time should be set to get the setup ready and say go.
Devon has not formally accepted the challenge he said something like when it fits /right time, because in his current form he would not be able to defeat Brad easily and that will elevate Brad more internationally. Thats a good 5k investement that will come triple back to him , not to mention he might take round(s) from dev

The only person who should be complaining is the opponent. And he is not. But man the people who weren't there and weren't in the match really know far more about it amd have far more to say than the ones in the match somehow. Not really sure how that works but its a pretty cool trick

And yea I agree Pradeep, the best arm wrestler won in the Devon vs prudnick match. Prudnick is definitely good but obviously not as good as Devon. It's been proven on camera. I think Ol Unc Zilla had one to many Miller Highlifes when he said that lol
I think Jodi is responsible for this and she controls Devon and tells him to go out and support more than he would normally, remember before his match with Prudnik he said he would turn up but Jodi has made him stay for his son's surgery because "your son needs you more" even when the surgery was nothing major, can you imagine Devon at that age asking his elders to stay with him for a surgery?, The mothers of today are creating liabilities and soy boys and Devon has no say and has to comply to the wifes demands
he also went into that water fasting and enema cleanse (yes, lol) just because she told him so lol (she does it a lot, and he had to follow her steps lol) lost all his gains from the levan prep (pretty good shape he was btw, able to hold levan at only 120kg, could easily go to 115kg category without losing any strength) just because his wife ordered him to do it 💩 (now even if he gets the weight back, he will never be in the same shape he was after the levan prep, lost it all because his wife told him so...)

I hated how much Auden was yelling at the refs. It’s ok to fight for what you needs it’s not ok to constantly badger and bully the refs into allowing you to have an unfair advantage. But part of the fault is on the refs for allowing it. They should have just fouled Auden and fouled him until he stopped. If you foul somebody out of a round I guarantee you they will get the message and stop whatever they are doing.
