@Eli Benda he shut down Travis Kelce and shut down tyreek hill In the same game and espn listed him as the 4th best coverage corner in the league statically last season , he also stopped the bengals WR core , and he stoped amari cooper and held Jarvis Landry to 57 yards , he also stopped marquise brown. I don’t understand your point on why he can’t become one of the best in his position when he did all of this his rookie season , he easily could develop into one of the best in the game . Bro had one of the best defensive season out there
@@coledash_8615 these people are crazy he had 4 picks including a pick 6 against Herbert a pick on Mahomes and a pick on Lawrence down the sideline plus 14 passes defended allowing only one catch over 20 yards and 3 TDs gaurding the top receivers in the league as the Broncos number one CB his ROOKIE year. He's gonna be a monster for years to come barring injury. A perineal lock down corner. Top 3 yearly
@@tlumb5840 Landon Dickerson and Hurts is on the field as well for the Eagles so you could say 5 players from Alabama started in this game alone. Crazy.
Can u imagine all the epic battles these two had in practice at alabama??? I’m convinced PS2 is partially responsible for smitty winning the hiesman, smitty got tested every route in practice by a elite DB so game day was easy
Smith hand eye coordination is on another level he righteously almost still snagged that last catch 😳😳😳😳😳 watch it slow mo.... Smith wasn't supposed to even touch that ball
Tbh surtain had great positioning and even tipped the ball. Looks to me like Smith got lucky. And if surtain had caught that pick at the end he would have won. If this were to happen again I'd take surtain all day. Good catch by Smith though.
This is incredibly close. Surtain II holding up vs the Heisman winner and forcing him to make a perfect play to get a TD… only allowed 2 catches from Smith and the other catch was just the play call not even his fault. Already a top 5 rookie and if you don’t think so your only reasoning is him being a rookie and on the Broncos.
1 of best 1 on1 battles cb vs wr rookies from Alabama dat c each other n practice elite on both parties perfect coverage better catch by DSMITH 4 TD Surtain best in the league 2nd jaycee horn man 2 man they always talk about that 2nd game LV vs Denver when Adams won the game OK I give u that 1 how about the 1st game check D ADAMS stat line?I don't think Surtain was healthy that game n instead of trailing going short he should of went deep hoping 4 over the top help and it cost him the game he ain't there yet?Yeah right ASK around the league who your choice as of today anybody in the league cb1 at least top 3 the worst
And what are you talking about he played that TD perfect almost knocked the ball loose. Allowed only one more catch all game by smith and then nearly picked another one. Smh
Through the entire season Patrick Surtain has allowed 49 receptions against him with a average of 11.1 yards per reception. And on most receptions the receiver is able to create good separation against him with a average of 2.7 yards of separation per catch. We clearly see in the highlight that he completely couldn’t cover Smith on that deep route td and smith isn’t even a top 15 receiver. Now I’m not saying smith is bad. But that’s not good for a “Top 10” corner. He’s the 44th statistically rated corner in the nfl in terms of yards allowed per game. And His teammate Kareem Jackson has a better qbr rating allowed then him and Jackson’s a Saftey. Don’t get me wrong Surtain is great at finding the ball threw the air and getting to the football on throws. But his man to man coverage is mediocre. The Broncos need to fit a more zone ran defense this year. I believe with that Surtain will excel at making big plays and finding the ball. It shows in most of his highlights on film that he’s better at getting to the ball and in coverage when in zone. He’s a great ball Hawk. But to say that he’s a amazing corner or did great is exceeding it way too far. As of right now he’s overrated.
@@ohioxjules coverage rating 8th overall, man coverage rating 5th overall, Catch rate allowed 51% 11th overall, passer rating 78.7 12th overall,.... Vs Amari Cooper 4 targets, O rec. Vs Mike Williams 9 targets 3 catches 25 yards and 2 passes defended, vs Tyreek Hill 2 targets 1 rec. 14yards and 1 pass breakup, D.J. Chark 8 targets 3 catches 30 yards and 3 pass breakups. Many outlets have him rated as a top 10 or better CB after just his rookie year. What is there not to like? 4.4.. 40 yard dash at 6.2 with amazing athleticism. They compare him to a better Antonio Cromartie
@@subtotheegg542 The reason why is because, his other foot didn't even touch the touchdown and he only got one foot in,also his body was half way out so if you look closely it was bull shit.
