Great video! I tried Devuan some time ago and it was buggy still. Now I am trying it out in order to see how I 'll like it. Thanks 4 Sharing.

I think the reason you weren't in sudoers is that when you install Debian/Devuan it asks you to set a root password. If you leave the root password blank then it adds you to the sudoers file. Personally I prefer to set a root password and then post install add myself to sudoers

As a former Unix systems administrator there are tons of reasons NOT to use Systemd. Stability and security are the most frequent. Nothing beats a real Unix. However, having said that, I need CUDA and Python for machine learning and AI. Unfortunately the nVidia support on BSD and others is non-existent. I was onboard with Linux in the early days and was one of the first Redhat Certified Engineers back in the day. But having developed on Unix I'm confident that Devuan is the way to go for stability, reliability and security as far as distros go for the linux kernel.

The way they put it something tells me that they have all init solutions except systemd in their repos so we can chose which one we like but sysvinit is default option.

Yes, that's correct. They don't like systemd. I prefer systemd because i know how to use it and I can't be bothered learning another init system.

@@linuxmench2118 i don't mind systemd and i don't hate it but in case i do there is nothing stoping from adding devuan's repos to debian amd just install sysvinit and removing systemd. Ability to change anything in linux is what makes linux great.

@@linuxmench2118 even if you started using sysvinit you'd catch up fast because sysvinit is way simpler than systemd.

I used sysvinit a little when playing with Antix and runit when playing with Void. They were okay and I would learn them if I was living in a distro that came with them. I don’t don’t have a problem with systemd ; as a matter of fact I like it, so I wouldn’t swap it for another init system.

Good video. I hate .deb distros. I personally don't see the difference between this and antix/mx linux. They were already systemd free. Since that is the only merit. Using devuan.

Thanks! Arch is my favourite. I don't have a problem with systemd. If I were going to live in a debian based distro, I would go to pure Debian.
