Mench, this is a great video and I will be recommending it to noobs who ask me what distro to install. I consider Arch a noob distro, but I found out that some people have trouble getting to the desktop. Previously I recommended EndeavourOS with the i3 WM, so they could get Arch-based distro with a WM. But now I will advise noobs to watch this video so they can get Arch with a WM (but I will suggest i3 or qtile). This video is better for that purpose than your video which involved an encrypted drive. As for wireless, my laptop does not have an ethernet port, so I use iwctl to connect to a wireless network.

Thanks again for the positive feedback and for recommending my channel. Concerning wireless, I plugged a WiFi dongle into one of my Arch computers running the Gnome DE. It recognized it out of the box and I didn't have to fiddle with it. All I had to do was type in my WiFi password. The next video I'll be releasing is even better. In it I start off with a base install of Arch with only root. This is a duplicate base install of the VM from the video you just watched. In other words, I didn't do this base install on camera. I show how to manually make a user, password, and sudo, same as I did in the current video. Then I go through a really long explanation of my post install scripts, longer than previous videos. Then I use my scripts to install all my favorite apps including Cinnamon, Qtile, and Awesome. Then I do a manual install of KDE and Gnome. I show how to increase the boot up count down so you have more time to choose which of the two installed kernels to load. I show how to switch between lightdm, sddm, and gdm. I show how to delete one of the two installed kernels. I'm not sure if I'm releasing it today or Monday.

You’re the best, Mench. This video will help many people who want to install Arch but feel intimidated by just the ArchWiki documentation (which is indeed very good, but assumes you know what you’re doing). Thank you so much, my friend. Now I just need to decide which DE (desktop environment) or WM (window manager) to use. I have mild ADHD and need an environment that won’t distract me. I saw your videos on Awesome and thought it was truly awesome, but I believe a person needs to already know how to use a WM. I’m thinking of going with GNOME or i3wm. Thanks again.

You're welcome. Thanks for the positive feedback, I appreciate it. I'm happy you're finding my videos helpful. My next video will show how to go from a base install to a full install using my install scripts. In the video, I give a fuller explanation of my install scripts and the apps installed. It will install Cinnamon, Qtile, Awesome, and all my favorite apps. Afterwords, I do a manual install of KDE and Gnome. In this video, I only give a really superficial look at the window managers and desktops. The video is more about installation. My older videos give more details on how to use Qtile, Awesome, Cinnamon, KDE, and Gnome. Have you tried Cinnamon? It's user friendly, easy to configure, and similar to Windows XP or 7. Cinnamon might be something for you to consider. In Arch, the default install is ugly, but it's easy to configure and it has a great weather app in the doc. Do a search on my site for Cinnamon.

This is a short video on Cinnamon: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UFKLXgSiv5k.html

@@linuxmench2118 I’m going to watch the Cinnamon video in an attempt to change my mind, and I’ll definitely leave a like and share it whenever someone mentions Cinnamon. But to be honest, there’s something about Cinnamon that I don’t like, though it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is. Some people here in Brazil on certain channels say it looks outdated, but that’s not really the issue for me, since I used to run an XFCE theme on Mint that looked like Windows 95 hahaha. I love KDE but feel it might distract me, so I’m considering GNOME or i3wm. Thanks again for pointing me to a video and trying to help me with this.

archinstall script has a drawnack that it splits root and home partitions instead of installing under root partition. Personally, I do not like that therefore, manual installation is all good to go with ✌️

You can choose in archinstallscript if you want a seperate home partition or not.

The install script is good for a quick easy install; however, I prefer manual installation.
