Yay, a tool I want from Dewalt! I shall now wait an indefinite period of time until it comes to the UK.

Great video. Thanks for including detailed explanations about the offset arm which came free in my kit. Awesome!

Finally bought one of these hope to use it for tight work spaces where other tools such as grinders and sanders don't fit due to shape or other objects being in the way

Nice review as always. The Dewalt looks great but I will probably go for the Craftsman V20--which is currently on sale with a starter kit for $99 at Lowe's. I have many Dewalt 20v tools but have some of the V20 work lights, which work fine for me, so I can use more V20 batteries. Hope you review the V20 bandfile soon.

Yeah a little pricey, but give it a few months. I've had the Ryobi 18v band file for almost 5years now and literally use it daily. I imported it from Australia where Ryobi first released it in early 2019. It's brushed but plenty of power. It's been in the US market for a couple years now I think. I saw it on special for 69 bucks at HD at least twice this year.

Sometimes I wish I wasn’t invested into just one brand. I have a lot of Craftsman Brushless RP tools but this would be nice to have if I had some of their batteries already.

They just released a Craftsman CMCM300 R+P cut-off tool which should be compatible with the same bandsaw mods as the DeWALT version (DCS438). You’ll lose the variable speed trigger though.

I previously modded the DCS438 Cut Off Tool Converted to belt sander using Baxter sander and adapter. This is nicer with the variable speed, but the lower guard drastically reduces the reach into tight spaces compared to the baxter. Does it look like the lower guard area that extends past the belt can be removed or cut off without interfering with the function?

I have the m12 it's awesome. But dewalt sure did a great job designing there's.

Agree well designed but late to the game….AGAIN. This happened with their 20v belt sander and 3” cut off. I have tried to stick exclusively with the Dewalt battery ecosystem but got tired of waiting for them to come out with the tools I need.
@GannDolph
@GannDolph 8 месяцев назад
@@BA-zy2kbI know how you feel, but more often than not it's worth the wait. The M12 cutoff arrived first, but it's almost useless. The electronics are set to cut out at the slightest load or temperature rise, no doubt to reduce warranty claims. The dewalt cutoff meanwhile is a beast. My strategy is to buy the must-have new releases from Ryobi. They're cheap, usually first (or at least early) to market. I've had a Ryobi 18v band file for almost 5years now and literally use it daily. I imported it from Australia where Ryobi first released it in early 2019. This Dewalt release is welcome as the motor brushes on my ryobi "Powerfile" are almost worn through.

@@GannDolph you are of course absolutely right. The Dewalt offerings are very good for instance the 20v belt sander sporting a normal 3x21” belt size is brilliant move compared to the TTI triplets. It’s just painfully slow when you consider that Makita has had their similarly well engineered cordless band file available since 2020. Like you I bought the Ryobi as it was not only available but good enough for the right price. Battery adapters make this an easy option.

They should have paired the offset arm with the tool. Would have justified the MSRP a little more.

I've been hoping for rigid to put out one of these, but even if i were in dewalts system, that's just too much ask.

I would love this, but I don’t really need it. I would buy it anyway, but yeah, it’s too expensive to keep in the draw most of the time. But honestly, look at Cleo and other manufacturers. Their versions are TWICE the price, or higher.

I believe you can modify the dewalt 3 in cutoff into a bandfile

It's a cool tool and I could see impulse tool collector buys, but the price is so high, it feels insulting. It's priced at least $50 too high.

Especially considering a more useful DeWalt multi-tool and grinder can be found for $120 on sale with powerstack battery. IMO it should be a $49.99(max) drill attachment.

It’s like $20 more than the Milwaukee, it’s more adjustable with more features. And most importantly it actually has power unlike the Milwaukee. My coworker has the Milwaukee and it just flashes the lights and shuts off constantly, much like their grinders, polishers, impact ratchet etc. also belt sanders have skyrocketed in price already. My dynabrade cost around $400 8 years ago. They are now well over $600. Pneumatic is stronger and will always be my workhorse, but this dewalt belt sander will be nice for when the air hose isn’t close by.

I’ve used DeWalt sandpaper. If Diablo doesn’t make those belts, that tool will bankrupt you…me anyway. The contraption belongs on a dill we already own IMO.
