What I was doing I was doing wrong and it "blew up" while going through the planer. Long story short, rollers don't roll. Fussed with planer for a couple of days with no good results. Stumbled upon this video and decided to check other side of machine. While taking the cover off noticed part of a sprocket on the floor, found the rest of it inside planer and hole in cover. Parts are ordered and my fingers are crossed. If it wasn't for this easy to understand and follow video I may never have (hopefully) solved the mystery of the lazy planer. Thank you Decker. I will be following you and all of your videos. Recommend everyone does the same..

Great video! This video is the sole reason my rollers are finally clean! One small tip to go along with this video. Flip your planer up side down. No longer fighting gravity and you can see everything way easier. Thank you for this video!!

This was a great video. I started having an issue with my rollers last week. I am going to use your video to replace the rollers. Called the repair center i was quoted a price that the repair could cost up to 350.00 plus shipping both ways. 😢 You are a life saver. Definitely will be watching your future videos. Thanks!

Great video, I've got a pair of rollers coming this week and this video will save me a lot of time. Dewalt are sending me some used rollers from their repair shop, basically because they don't have any new rollers in stock - and I've been waiting for nearly two months. When are they gonna learn that these things are a consumable part and they need replacement every few years? It's a great planer but Dewalt's after-sales service is dismal.

Why did you flip the bushing around? When you took it off at 7:12, the narrow part was to the spring. When you put back together at 11:04 the wide part of the bushing went to the spring.

I realized that when I was trying to get the roller in and noticed that I had it in the wrong position. I noticed it once I got it in and I redid it. Looks like I edited it out.

At 07:30, you said that the thicker part of the spring support block goes uppermost, it does NOT! The thinner part goes uppermost - you can see this at 07:11 when you remove the block.

I know for a fact that if the thicker part is up then you have more spring pressure forcing down on the material. You can put it however you feel is best for you. Mine is working just fine. Thanks for watching

Anyone else have a hell of a time getting the left side sprocket on?

Mine went on pretty easy, there could be a bur on the shaft or the key holding you back

Thank you for your patient walk through this job. I have subscribed and will check your other posting. I've had a DW735 for many years and run a lot of lumber through it, mostly hardwoods like oak, probably more than the average hobbyist would ever do. I've done many repairs and the Shelix mod. At this point my rollers are refusing to turn. I need to replace them anyway as they really are shot, as in disintegrating. Hoping they will reveal the problem of refusing to turn or I inadvertently "fix" that while replacing the rollers. I see from my notes that I have replaced sprockets more than once. When I go to dissemble perhaps that will reveal itself to be the issue.

Yep -- sprocket sheared off in the key way.

Thats great you found the issue, and a pretty cheap fix at that. I'm glad the video seemed helpful to you. I just recently posted another video on this planer with some cool upgrades so if you find the time check it out. And Thank You for your Subscription. Im not trying to be a big RU-vidr or anything, Its just starting to become another hobby for me. And who knows maybe it will take off, but if not oh well.

Great video. You mentioned the type of pliers you use. Can you give me the name of them. I can't quite understand it from the video. Again, great video!

The pliers I used are a Circlip plier or snap ring pliers ( that's what I always called them) that are angled 90 degrees. But a straight pair will work also. Thanks for watching!
