The story behind this is good, the songwriters kept sending versions of this over to the scriptwriters, who kept sending it back saying it wasn't dirty enough.

Such a underrated film! Especially if you love that genre of music and the tropes of biopic films being made fun of

Thanks for posting this - what is the original source of this long unedited version? Was it a bonus feature on the DVD?

Just listening to the Ernest Tubb / Loretta Lynn duet "I'll Just Call You Darlin'", and while there are many male/female country duets from this era that probably inspired "Let's Duet", this one seems like it might have been in the ears of the Dewey Cox songwriters.
