I've actually been looking for help on the appropriate tool to drill in the bedrock. Thank you because as you found out you can't just use any hammer drill
What! The electric drill out performed the air drill by 15 min per hole??? There is something terribly wrong with the air drill my friend. With a good heavyweight drill e.g. 25-27Kg it should take no more than 90 seconds to drill a 600mm x 38mm hole in hard granite - I do it nearly every day.
Interesting, I had two air drills & four bits /heads all were a disappointment. Must have been something with the way I was using it. If I had known that is what it could have done, would have saved a lot of time. It was fast until about 4-6 inches; then it was very slow (despite blowing out the dust in the holes).
