As a promoter in the late 90s and early 2000s I was blessed to be around some legends. As far as Quik, he's always been a humble dude to his counterparts and fans. I blame the promoter this one. It sucks that this was Quik's reaction but when Quik is booked for a show, it's a Quik show. Point blank period. Respect to Dezzy for doing his thing too! 🍺🍺✌
I blame the promoter. Dezzy should have went before Dj Quik. Then Dezzy would have been able to pay homage to Quik and hand the mic off. Quiks is a legend. Dezzy sounds like him on certain songs.
I ran to Quik at the Arena club in Hollywood back in the 90’s and when he walked passed me he looked me up and down and then made this hater face at me Lol
Keep it 100! If your a legend in the rap game and they making you open up for somebody still new to the game then they make you introduce him to stage you’ll be butt hurt too I know I would
@@donmiller2705 everybody's time to shine .. but eventually you gotta light the way for the new ones coming up.. pass the torch.. show the love because you never know who's next coming after but always never forget the pioneers that forged the path. Always thought hip hop was this and i hope it always will be.
@@donmiller2705 That just shows you just like homie aint nobody give a fuck Especially if you're a headline rapper like DJ quick you aint gotta be a dick like that
I've worked with a quik a few times. Always been humble and an amazing musical creator willing to share knowledge and game. People forget though that these artists are human. Quik's also dealt with a lot of loss and situations. I don't feel he disrespected deezy and I enjoy his music as well, it just sounds like he wasn't as friendly as maybe he hoped.
That’s crazy, they say never meet your idols. Deezy looked up to DJ Quik and was disappointed I feel for Deezy big time. Quicks behavior was unacceptable, and he did it all because they told his old ass to hurry up .
@@thadon1067I bump Quik heavy but u gotta admit bro that’s wrong what he did to the homie u don’t throw a tantrum cuz the promoter is tellin u to show some love to somebody new in the game when it’s time 4 them to shine on stage. I respected quik cuz he engineered a lot of music 4 artists that he got no credit from, but Ima person that prefers character over talent cuz actin like that is ugly man it don’t get u nowhere ahead bein like dat to people period.🤷🏽♂️
DJ Quick went through a lot in the younger years that messed his mentality up which changed him. Still no excuse to take it out on others though and to disrespect you the way he did.
i got the pleasure to open for Quik twice back in the day.. i didnt actually get to meet him the first time, second time came and i told myself i needed to get a photo for sure with this legend, one of my favorites for sure.. he snatched my phone and tossed it to his son, telling him not to give me back my phone lol theres a little more story to it, but i aint gonna put quik on blast. he still one of my favorites. i enjoyed the incident, thought its a pretty koo campfire story to tell the kids and grandkids later 😁 shoutout to Dezzy tho. love what him and Bishop doing today for SoCal
When Dezzy said Tonight made him wanna rap, I can hear it in his music. Quick air mean nun by it the dude probably caught him off guard wit it...they gonna make music together soon yall watch 🔥 🔥 🔥
DJ Quik was cool and funny as hell when I met him at the House of Blues back in the early 2000's. That fool DJ Quik was clownin' talking about how he wanted me to be his bodyguard because at the time I weighed almost 300 pounds, solid. Mind you, I am 6'5.
I’ve heard stories of rappers that were poppin at the moment, insist that they go on before a rap legend, just to show respect. Dezzy could have done that with Quik if he wanted to. Especially with him saying that Quik was such an inspiration to him. But regardless, it was still disrespectful of Quik to do him like that.
Dj quik is a cool cat , ive meet him several Times. We talking about entrepreneurs buisness- stocks, start up companies- etc airport a few years ago. He must meet him on his bad day. We are only human deezy. Pls forgive quick.and work on song in 2024 🔥
*Eastside Low Bottoms sh*t !* _Tappin' in from South Central LA_ It's likely the promoters fault. Co-headliners or not, between the two, Quik goes on AFTER Dezzy Hollow _anywhere !_
In his feelings, because a promoter who asked Quik, for an unrehurst intro. That he says Quik, complied with by saying what he said and passed (threw)him the 🎤. He mad because he was inbarised 😊 LOL!😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yo it sounds like someone in production fumbled the ball. But it sounds like you handled it well. Only thing that sucks is you can easily see you two putting out a BANGER!
I was thinking, don’t these artists know what the line up going to be…… And if quik knew another artist was coming on before he made the deal…. I don’t understand why he would be bitter, …. Quik have to be more considerate to up and coming artists…. It’s plenty of room in this business for everyone to shine…. But I think quik is probably a cool dude but Deezy just happen to undeservingly got the stubborn side of quik
All the Disney songs are based off a DJ Quik and Suga Free straight up first time I started listening to dizzy Hollow i knew exactly what I was listening to
I loved Quik growing up … 2010 book of David came out ….house of blues …meet and greet….David Griffin showed his true colors… I still fuck with him though probably had a bad night
I remember back in the early 2000 DJ quik had did an audition for new talent so me and all the homies went to perform and try to get signed. We waited for ever for him to show up eventually 2 of his guys was like fuck it go ahead and start and quik never showed up
The promoter made that mistake and Quik showed how he felt about it… wasn’t no diss to Deezy, intentionally or directly, in my opinion but I can see how that’s not too cool of a thing to do. I’d feel some type of way too.
blame the promoter...he cut the set short... quik thru deezy an alley..on some i open for u.. dont fuck this up..and tossed em the mic..he put the spotlight on em...
I’ve attended a number of Quik’s shows. He has a very down to earth vibe and involves the crowd. He even brings artists who aren’t headlining onstage for his audience. It’s a bit hard to buy a story of Quik being disrespectful.
I'm sorry but OG's are supposed to be helping the younger generation improve and be great in the modern new school G Funk or whatever genre of music they are making. You can't call people names if your an OG trying to remain a GOAT. Props to Suga Free for Standing in his role as a GOAT OG and helping Dezzy Hollow successfully become the new G Funk Artist.
Just got put onto dezzy. Music is flawless and i hope his career is huge and lasts a long time. As for the quik situation, that promoter knew he was stirring the pot. At the end of the day Quik is a living legend and none of us can speak on him fairly considering none of us are him or ever done what he’s done and doing for this culture. And the title to this clip is slightly misleading.
Y’all can blame the promoter all you want, still doesn’t excuse another man’s reaction considering he’s in control of his own emotions. Obviously dude got butthurt cause he didn’t seem to be aware of who’s going up in order. As a performer, he should have known beforehand what the deal is before stepping on stage . Too bad quick got butthurt like that
Stfu you still listening to Black music though what population got to do with anything? His idol DJ Quik is the reason why he does Black music period…..you trying to make shit racial but you still in a niggas lane right? We been in the state and country since day one we not going no where!!!! Funny how your handle is literally a Black Indigenous God of MeXIco get your knowledge up ✊🏾🪶🗿🏹
