This is a really good overview of the options and trade offs. I haven't seen anyone adding/using a normal pressure tank in a RODI system, which is normally used in point of use RO systems. I can see adding a 5 to 10 gal output tank (after the carbon>RO, before the DI or after). How it works: So long as you have decent inlet pressure (60 to 80 PSI), and your RO passes .5 GPM or more, the system will deliver 30PSI at 2GPM until you use up 1/2 of the tank volume, all the wile the pressure tank is trying to fill at 1/2 GPM. If you take a few minutes between a couple of windows, i would think the tank would stay mostly full, thus solving the pressure flow issue, and allowing the use of smaller DI tanks. I would think that a rhythm at the end of a job that give a few minutes to allow the tank to fully fill with pressure or at the start, would make it all work well. I am interested in your thoughts. Having the entire setup stay in the van would be ideal due to the tank weight (10 gal = 80 lbs). Alternately, one could travel with a 100 gal pure water tank + pump or pressurized tank, filled with the home based system mentioned above.

I'm in Arkansas and come across alot of homes w/ well water hitting upper 250's to 350's tds. Using the Xero Jr. has been great having the RO to help increase the lifespan of the DI. I almost bought that Unger Hydropower, glad I didn't here in the Ozarks! Great vid., very instructive, thanks Steve!

Exactly, I live an a area with average 50 tds but can come across wells too where I have to use an RODI system

Out here in Central California, water levels are easily always above 400 ppm. Almost 600 where I live. My 4 stage RO DI cart gets it down to 3ppm. About 60 psi. Really good system for hard water areas. 👌

You said RO's can stale or deteriorate when not used frequently. how long is this time period ? does this hold true for Di tanks ? consider a DI tank left with water in the tank over the winter or the slow months. Mine actually still read 0 TDS this spring when I used it again. I know it is hard to give exact time stamps. What is a general time frame that you would not want to leave a RO/DI system with water in it to avoid damage to the RO membrane? same question for the DI tank, is this time much longer? I ask because I was very worried mine would not read 0 TDS this spring but to my surprise it did. Does Di resin deteriorate at a much slower speed?
@mlhm5
@mlhm5 5 месяцев назад
Why not a 30-100 gal buffer tank in the van with a 4gpm 12 volt pump. that way your di ro could be permanent in the van.

I've been searching for a month for someone to talk about cleaning windows with spores on them from artillery fungus, or rough dirt, bird droppings, etc with a water fed pole. Clearly I would imagine having to go trad style and have to get on a ladder and scrape them, yet I consistently hear you can get all windows clean(outside of a construction clean) with just a water fed pole. Does not work I have found. I do not use ladders, most homes have spores or some minimal paint etc so I'm clueless as to how people are doing this. My water fed pile system was very expensive but finding I'm having to hire someone to get on ladders and do the work and worried I wasted a lot of money. Please help! Thanks for the vids

With jobs like that if you're finding every window needs to be scraped than I suggest cleaning it traditional, for water fed if the boar hair brush and walnut pad attachment do not get them cleaned then best to do by hand

Thanks! We live in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada. Doing a bit of research about the city water here come to find out it can be less than 1ppm hardness. I also found online it is in a range between 4-26 mg/ or ppm. Does this mean a RODI would be way overkill and that a DI would be more than sufficient? If so great cuz a DI starter pack at Tucker is $999 vs a 3 stage at $2500 😅

Hey, I'm curious: how come you american windowcleaners don't have a tank in your van or truck with pure water filtered at home? Here in the netherlands everybody works this way.

Thank you, I'm in South Carolina and you just save me at least $1,000 and a whole lot of time because I thought the waterfed system was much more out of my range thinking I had to get the more expensive version. I have not one customer yet but I thought I was going to be restricted to mostly one story work, not great with a ladder. How should I purchase one where it can help you out as well? appreciate it

TDS in Tennessee is typically pretty good, you can look it up here, if under 100 then the Unger system will work great windowcleaner.com/pages/tds?sca_ref=3020242.k17l3JaEgS

I live in miami florida. I was planning on using this di system for my 2 big jobs I have 1 is a school and the other is a doctors office. I clean the school windows 1 time a year and the Dr 2 times a year. The tds of the school is 240. Is this the right system for me. I've gotten other readings from other parts of town at 140. And 160. Should I get a xero pure or just stick with the di tank
@SteveOthewindowcleaner
@SteveOthewindowcleaner Месяц назад
@@Cjsprestigepressurecleaning 240 is high for DI only, at that TDS the hydropower is rated to do 350-500 gallons or 9.5 - 12.8 working hours. Will just be changing resin often. If you began using water fed more consistent a Xero pure muti stage is best windowcleaner.com/products/xero-pure?sca_ref=3020242.k17l3JaEgS

For a beginner WFP user in California with little need for it what do you recommend? DI only or RODI? Thanks in advance.

I live in New Jersey, im pretty sure the hardness is slightly to moderately hard? I don't know what id be better off with a single stage system or a RODI system, what would you recommend?
@SteveOthewindowcleaner
@SteveOthewindowcleaner 7 месяцев назад
New Jersey is best to have a multistage system due to the hardness of the water. Xero pure is a perfect 1 pole system windowcleaner.com/products/xero-pure?sca_ref=3020242.k17l3JaEgS

Hey whatsup, i clean windows with the unger system and fed pole, and when it comes to hous glass it usually works well that it drys itself, but when it comes to business building glass it doesn't, the water just goes of right away and just leaves water drops on the window and if i dont hand dry them it always leaves kinda like dust marks where the water drop were, and it doesn't matter how much i scrub before, any solution? Or is just me or someome else also?
