Devilution X V1.4.1
- The feature to refresh the shop by reloading a save was removed, so I had to start a new session each time just to get some books rolled out.
This is not an enjoyable experience, and I think it is extremely unnecessary to force player to start new sessions just to get a book.
- They made level a much bigger deal. If you are at level 1, in hell mode you would barely hit anything with your magic, but once you have leveled up, you can hit your enemies as accurate as impossible, but your enemies cannot hit you as much.
The idea behind this "upgrade" is to force players to spend their time doing stupid things, like changing their level number.
- They made enemies stronger, and the player weaker. You can see that in the final fight. In the original game the stun effect is not so much exaggerated. I don't know what's the joy with that. Maybe they should even make the player instantly die at the sight of its enemies.
Many games are ruined by their "upgrades", and DevilutionX seems to be going that way.
Anyways, you can still beat Diablo in Hell Mode using the same method as before. Only takes more time by starting new sessions. Brilliant "design".

Maybe they should even make the player instantly die at the sight of its enemies." - aaaand ... wrong again, the only thing we did was fixing bugs where values wrapped around and ended up being much lower than they should be (like diablo having 20% hit chance on hell etc.) To sum up, you have no clue what you are talking about. Nobody is forcing you to play DevilutionX, go back to your "perfect" vanilla if we ruined the game so much.

What is embarrassing is the more you work on it, the worse it becomes. I will of course enjoy the much more perfect former version of your somethingX, just to have some fun.

i mean, fixing famous bug in game made in 1996, bug that older then 50% of modern diablo community. I'd say that bug became feature at this stage so people are confused when after 20 years it suddenly gone. Not judging, just giving my 5 cents.
