A youTuber who shows something new and constructive, instead of all the BS we have seen everywhere about D4 from "pros", deserves a thumbs up imo. You actually said something very true, Diablo is a hack & slash. This was existing way before people began to call it an "arpg" and I'm glad D4 embraces this concept again.
I went lightning as well and I got to say that towards the end instead of fireball the basic fire attack enchantment because it gives you burning when you use chain lightning and there are passes that increase critical damage to burning enemies so you just lightning them twice and they all die
Really good guide, I’m new to Diablo but fell in love with the beta, didn’t know metas but always go any kind of mage class so fell in love with sorc right away, I’ll def try this out when the game is out
Drops are going to be lower when game releases, so just lvl this build requires so much time and falls off real quick. This will not be end game build either.
Dude you have 833 attack power. Most people that played their lvl 25 for hours ended up with 450ish attack power. With that amount of damage you can make almost any sorc build two shot bosses. The last person I've seen with such high attack power soloed the world boss with hydra build
Much of that is from standing still, you don't stand still all the time. Also many of the Dmg % increases are not reflected in the Attack Power, you can't just use that as a power measuring scale.
Good choice with the fireball passive - hadn't thought of that. I ended up with 876 attack power and went full chain lightning (I had the aspect that gives 5 mana every time chain lightning hit me), and the ones that allowed CL to hit more enemies and do significantly more damage when above X mana etc. I think the hydra build is just groupthink... a couple people posted videos about it early, then everyone just copied. The CL builds are also a bit more gear dependent, so hydra is probably easier to get into early.
Well done on the build. So many big youtubers completely missed the subtleties of the D4 skill trees across a lot of classes. I loved the sorc in previous iterations of diablo but did not get enough time on the beta to find a build even remotely entertaining (levelled Necro and Rogue first). This is fantastic and a great investigation of the talents that may have been overlooked. You are right too, nearly everyone went Hydra and it was a snooze. Great video mate ;)
With 400+ gear everything 1or 2 shots in beta :D but yeah I like Lightning Wizard, its fun playstyle. I 100% agree that why so many wizard went Hydra setup. This is the best sorc Build for sure, and in late game it will scale insane for what we have seen. But we never know if blizzard will change things up. But this build and frost setup is the strong
That 606 dps Staff lol, mine was 460ish and my attack power around 700, i went chain lightning 5 and hydra 5 with frost nova enchantment and deep freeze and steam rolled on dungeons and bosses, my gear was good all leg+2 or +3, yours is a little better and nicely focused on core dmg/lightning dmg, interesting, thanks.
I did start off with Spark, but eventually changed that to Arc Lash. Chain Lightning was my bread & butter. I used Fire Shield as my defensive. I was greatly disappointed by how lack luster Ball Lightning was.
My sorc was geared just as good but I refused to use chain lightning as it was so overpowered and will be getting nerfed. I went with a frost nova build with ice shards enchant. Every time I frost nova, everything was dead in less than a second, except elites which took an extra cast of ice shards. Way more fun build and will not be getting a nerf like Chain Light.
Always two questions I have for any content creators that seems lacky: 1 - How would your build work in end game content (lvl 50 + paragons)? 2 - How would your build work while leveling from 1-50? (_Is it sustainable as a leveling spec, or would I need to refarm the right legendaries and codex every second level...how can I stop leveling before I get the gear...?_)
I have a question for you or anyone please. How did you get plus 66% damage when you have a barrier, when things are imprinted it defaults to its lowest stat. The imprint should be 23% when doubled on a two hander will be only 46% Did you get the extra damage by upgrading the staff with the imprint already on it? Nice vid mate by the way. Real nice toon too!!!! Well done!
Cool build. I went for the Ice blade spam build which I felt was very OP until I saw this. However, I do only have 520 attack power and you're rocking 833 so that throws off the comparison. I also went with a staff imprinted with the same aspect, it's a no brainer with the barrier from cooldowns passive.
Hydra is better (especially if you have 21:9 monitor), because you also need to loot yellow items and while hydras are clearing the mobs you have the time to loot. If that was a greater rift scenario where you don't need to stop for looting this could outshine it.
I wish crackling energy wasn't so lackluster and annoying to get to work in comparisson, as I find just clicking chain lightning every couple of second quite boring...
Bro I really like this build , I think this is the best build in game . Do you recommended this build for leveling as well or is better to run different build and later in the game make this build ... thanks
People are talking about hydra because its good without any Legendaries, here you have more legendaries than lvl 100 will at launch vs lvl 25 monsters.
Should swap out Spark for lightning spear or flame armor. You never use Spark and if you have mana problems you can fix that by 'gain mana on cooldown' legendary. Flame armor is nice if you have +defensive skills items and adds solid damage. I think chain lightning with fireball enchantment or iceshards with piercing enchantment both do the same thing roughly as well. High single target dps and enough aoe to clear well. Just swap out chain lightning and unstable currents for ice shards and whatever (deep freeze for example). Also you probably want to have the ice blades enchantment at some point could be better than fireball enchantment now (you can swap enchantments midfight). Chain lightning/ice shards + teleport + frost nova + hydra/lightning spear + ultimate + flex (usually ice/flame armor) That's basically the mold for all builds I've seen so far. The basic skills and mastery skills are useless, you just need 1 core skill to dump your mana of which ice shards and chain lightning are by far the best (they give high single target dps and for aoe you can use a fireball or ice shard enchantment). Teleport is amazing and a must as always in any game, especially as it doubles as a way to break free from CC. Frost nova is a must because it is the only way to boost damage well by providing reliable freeze/vulnerable. One ultimate is a given. And finally two slots remain where you just take extra damage (hydra, lightning spear, ice blades) and/or utility (ice armor, flame armor).
Wouldn't say an ultimate is a given. Unstable currents is crazy good but only activates in the lightning build. If you run the Ice shards shatter version, it's not worth taking an ultimate imo, as deep freeze is low damage. Sitting in that iceblock is a dps loss compared to oneshotting the entire room instantly with one nova press. On higher difficulties where survivability might be an issue, then it can be considered. I wish we got an extra hotbar ability just to slot an ultimate ability.
@@flagermusen it feels bad how the design is such that slots and not skill points are the limiting factor sometimes. Basic skills, ultimates and even the cool looking mastery spells all feel like a waste of a slot even if you have the points to spare (or in basic skill case actually NEED to get them). In case of ice shards build if you don't need deep freeze i lean towards Inferno. But at later levels it seems builds will be pushed towards staying in one element because the capstone passives seem strong and don't work well for mixed builds. The only 'mixing' you probably want is in utility stuff like frost nova, teleport and ice blades.
I only got to play on the open beta so I never got to really maximize my character. I agree though, hydra felt really underwhelming when I tried it in comparison to what a lot of people were saying. Chain lightning was hitting harder and aoeing. I didn't see the appeal.
Who wants to bet they'll nerf the sorcerer before launch? :P Sorcerer and necromancer were both great classes, I can't quite decide what I'll run at launch. I might just go opposite to what my wife picks.
How will you be leveling when the game comes out ? The legendary drops will be much lower and from my experience, chain lightings damage goes down the higher in level you go(without all the legendaries)
Chain lightning is busted for leveling even with no legendaries. Insane for clearing, and due to self bounce is insane for single target too. It's probably overall the #1 best skill in the game (as we know it from the beta). Only the mana cost is prohibitive, but that can be mitigated in various ways.
Haven't had a chance to play the beta since I've been traveling- I really like frozen orb in general, is there a viable build for that skill in your opinion?
Combine Chain Lightning with Hydra = OP. Ice Armor upgrades give you increased mana regen. The devs will also nerf Chain Lightning based on videos like this.
Yes, but for this build +ice armor would be better because you already need to spend a hard point in nova to get the upgrades enhanced nova and mystical nova. So getting the free ice armor from boots saves you one skillpoint. But your boots with +nova, +tele and %movespeed are however the best rolls for the ice shards version of the build that maxes out frost nova.
Fully gear dependant... didn't see that in the title... at the back of a long queue of streamers posting "top tier" guides. I appreciate the effort required though.
Good build, but your gear is kinda un-realistic for when the game launches... like is it good for leveling with.. normal leveling gear? i am pretty sure most if not ALL sorc builds would destroy everything with this gear. Hydra, blizzards, meteors, lightings.. you name it. Definetly seems cool though. I still believe that the hydra is better since i believe it's the least crazy-gear dependant to actually deal with tough opponents like the butcher.
why not? The game isn't balanced around being lvl25, it's balanced at Paragon level. His gear is also due to exploiting the quick spawn mob that dropped lvl 35 gear, enchanting it to make it lose the level restriction and upgrade with an aspect to turn it into legendary.
All will be nerfed by launch....especially necromancer corpse explosion. It blows my mind how streamers ruin builds by blasting it all over the web as a broken character
ur attack is crazy u wont get that in main. I think ice shard with frost nova combo way better then switch 2 ice blades for bosses and face tank kill anybody... but its abit slower but not much and if i had that much dps i prop would melt the bosses just as fast with ice blades.
Once again Freaking level 35 item exploit... Stop making builds, this isn't a feature of the Freaking game.... it's an exploit that won't be available.. the 2 shot claim of this build, is Nothing...... People just need to stop. Do it With Normal Gear, and then showcase it..... If U wana add a silly clip using the exploit at the end, Then do that.... People who farm without knowing the exploit will deal a 4th of this damage... At most.....
Why would you spend so many minutes explaining something before you show how it works? Maybe someone sees how it works and decides it's not interesting for them?
I wanted to explain a little what synergises and what stats I priod because a lot of people ask me for that stuff on my stream, then added some chapters for people who just wanna skip to the action -maybe in the next vid i'll just blast some dungeons no talking, I appreciate the feedback!
I've been running a similar build (with way less stats). The one thing I'd say for sustain, there is an aspect that recovers some mana when Chain lightning bounces off of you. On solo bosses it allows you to cast A LOT of them without needing to stop to regen. Definitely over 10. So on tankier bosses or when game comes out on live, that will be a super critical aspect to get imo
Yess I like your thinking, the Chain lightning mana regen is definitely gonna be good for single target bosses. Maybe it can even be viable to play both (one for aoe and one for bosses) and put %vulnerability on another slot than ring :D
We have the same idea though. I ran lightning sorc for the whole beta and used the frost nova. I didn't thought of meteor as enchantment. I used Chain lightning but i guess meteor enchantment is much better.
Cool video. Nice job. But kinda pointless. (not because of you. As i said....cool stuff) Because as soon the game launches, the entire game ballance will be kinda different, plus the remaining skills will be available too with a much bigger rooster of legendary items. So builds created in the beta will be scrapped anyway.
Full on synergistic legendaries: lightning is the best sorc. Well the hydra version needs 0 legendary items to be good. Legendary item drops are way ramped for beta, you will not see this amount of power normally.
