I have been playing consistently casually since Season 2 and have put tons of time into D4. While never playing enough to really get hardcore into endgame, it's still been enjoyable and I have certainly enjoyed my time. All the new systems have also made the game quite enjoyable and I really can't wait to play the Spiritborn.
@@DaysSpentWellIt sucks😅 and it’s an MMO which the genre is dead aside from WoW and FFXIV the others just have huge cash shops and optional subs or P2W stuff
You can think about it like this. I recently played Black Myth : Wukong. I must say it was the best money I’ve spent on a game. I have even gotten the Platinum Trophy for it. As of right now after 70 hours of Wukong I have stopped playing even though it was so fun and addictive. On the other hand, I have played 1000 hours of D4. Now imagine me playing 1000 hours of Wukong, it just won’t happen. So for me paying $40 for the D4 expansion is barely a purchase. I might or might not like it but it’s a fair price in my opinion. That $40 can carry you for many more seasons and is totally worth it. Especially, with inflation nowadays, $40 can’t get you much anyways. For people that are tight on money, making this purchase might seem a bit unreasonable, and that’s understandable.
I used to think the EXACT same way as you, but to me it isnt even a money thing. These days I make a lot more money than I was when I was buying EVERY new popular release games. Why I stopped doing it is because I choose to NOT support half assed product anymore ❤
Your ability to be constantly amused by a repeptitive ARPG (click once and everything dies) with little customizations like diablo is the first requirement for your advice to hold.
@@Ser_Godric Same here. That's the thing that made me drop the game after the main campaign... the sidequests in this game are SO MMORPG that it brings me to a snorefest...
If we complain when Devs screw things up...😡 Its only fair to give them credit for LISTENING & trying to improve. 👍 Otherwise you just want to complain & are part of the problem.
Followed your channel from the last 2 years, you are awesome. Love the work on this review - way better than the more widely known reviewers, less niche than the D4 RU-vidrs. A true masterpiece to hear.
The game plus the expansion is $70 which is normal these days and DLCs with a full act and character have been $40 since Diablo 3's expansion despite inflation. It's cheap.
I have been playing this since 97. I don't really have a option, I need to go back for the continuation of the campaign. Glad that it sounds like I will have more things to keep me occupied and having fun after the end of the campaign
It's probably due to showing off PTR gameplay to get ppl excited again. then heavily turning down the reason ppl were eagerly waiting to try for themselves. It just takes the wind of your sails when you see build options get smited down days from release.
As another comment said, the hate has been earned. Blizzard doesn't seem to care or listen to it's fans. Still no paladin. I'm not a paladin guy myself but people are crying for it. To me spiritborn just doesn't look that interesting so I'll probably roll with necro again. I want D4 to be an absolute masterpiece. Will it? Definitely not but as I've said before in quoting another comment, the hate was earned.
I think this looks amazing. I played during season 2 and enjoyed the game, but got bored after finishing 1 character. With the updates since then, and this expansion, Diablo IV is looking perfect IMO.
You know why I love fextralife is because it doesn’t spend five minutes giving us their feelings and opinions in a lilting click baity voice. a+ will visit again
Judge them based on the quality of "seasons" they were "willing" to bless us during their "live service" (NPC with simple questline + repainted Nightmare dungeons...and then you have GGG that brings Tower defense/gladiator tournaments/endless mine as their leagues...)
Very good review, but i have one very minor gripe. The complaint with 1.1 beeing that it hurt creativity. I genuienly had to chuckle there. "People" do not care about creativity and creating their own builds. The vast majority is looking up meta builds online. People were mad, because the internet has EXTREME issues every single time something gets taken away from them, even if it's for the good of the game.
Might check it out. The game was in a really rough state on launch for a lot of reasons and a lot of those things have supposedly been improved since then. I am still worried that i'm going to feel like the game isn't worth it if i don't do the wow dungeon style raids (which i have zero desire to do in a diablo game).
Looks like Blizzard polish is alive and well, plenty of it on display here. The new class seems like a huge win, with build diversity and fun to play being two reasons.
I’m looking forward to this DLC. This will be my 4-5th time coming back to D4. I just want to be hooked like everyone else. But every season I come back seems so tedious just to get to the max level for the season and attempt to enjoy the process. Am I playing this game all wrong?? 😢
So you guys just kinda come here hoping man on internet justifies your hate for the game you don't like? And that's despite you being free to actually enjoy your lives?
One month after the launch of this expansion, watch them nerf the absolute shit out of the spirit born to "get it more in line with the other classes". Same thing they did with the base game to season 1. It's gonna happen.
I played all classes and felt they were all uniquely powerful. My Druid build literally walks around and everything dies without me pressing another button
As always exeptional review! GJ! To answer your question. I will never come back because i feel they steal from me 70€ ( it should cost 40€ for what they offered back then ) for the base game and so that's my punishment to them. PoEM is on the way....
@@jeremybrown9611 don't buy it at all imo, everyone has their own philosophy on what's right or wrong, the past few years I've been sticking with companies with a good rep and I hardly every pre order anymore, but to each their own
@@aaronhumphrey3514 I won’t deny it had good bones, and if you had fun that’s all that matters. I’m just tired of games releasing unfinished and/or mediocre. The only reason a company that huge releases something so mid at launch is profit margin.
@@sakuda213 I feel like the issue with it was more that the team lacked ARPG design experience than it was unfinished. They just didn't understand what it took to make ARPG systems that kept players engaged for hundreds or even thousands of hours. The way they did loot, difficulty, world bosses, dungeons, etc. just screamed a lack of experience. Odd for a Blizzard design team, but true all the same. I'm pretty sure the overall turnaround of the game has to do with them bringing in more experienced ARPG designers.
I could less of a shit what so many of these haters are saying, I can't wait to jump into VoH and just chill out and slay some mfing demons 😊 Funny thing is, we all know most of these nerds will buy the game and cry about it anyway 😂
The only thing keeping me away from coming back is the seasonal character, I don’t want to pour hours into a character for them to become obsolete in x amount of time
Diablo is about the journey, I was as you against it but now I accept it and it actually makes the game fresh. Seasons are two weeks max stands every 3 months.
Too bad they completely ruined rune words. They went from crafting amazing items to giving small ass buffs. Spirit born is just a druid monk, nothing original, the mercenaries are going to add nothing to the game but a few larger numbers here and there. Especially since we can already 1 shot literally everything the game has to offer. Literally nothing the player base actually wanted. The hype will last about 1 week. Just like each season so far. And all those coping hard af will say the same "they are headed in the right direction"
i’m sure the new season will be the best season ever, but after paying full price + battle passes to beta test the game for a whole year, just doesn’t make sense to pay them more. Especially when they are going to turn all my pass max level characters an gears into worthless trash, again. Even the new season will be the best, it’s still far from being good. Nothing new and fun or challenging are being brought to the game. Same couple fun days of leveling, next week or so to grind the gear and pg to finish the build, then it just mindlessly repeats the same thing to maybe get some mythic or triple ga items that totally base on RNG, not to mention the ultimate reward of breaking the perfect item. At this point all you can do is to start an alt and repeat it all over again, but wait, you already run out of stash space, perfect! This is my experience in S5, got to admit i did have a fun couple weeks, but doing it again ? I am totally fine paying for expansion and battle pass as long as there are good content, not sure if D4 is good… it seems the whole game design just keeps contradict itself. They want to make you play the season so they can charge you for the battle pass. The new class will be super op and fun to play because they want you to buy the expansion. fine, nothing wrong with being greedy as a company, but can they at least make it fun and reasonable? instead of discouraging players to play eternal realm, just delete it altogether, either let me keep my current gears or turn them into gold or materials for the next season, they can keep it locked until lv100 or whatever. the whole seasonal reset mechanism just feel weird.
I really enjoy the gameplay and exploration of the open world in Diablo 4. The graphics, music and effects are also amazing. I enjoyed the campaign and played some of the seasons until I realised just how bad the season mechanic is... Having season realms and the eternal realm, with the season pass cosmetics tied to season realms makes any character you played previously utterly pointless to play again & in turn any future character a waste of time also, because that character cannot be played in the next season. I wish existing characters could be played in season realms, or at very least the battle pass be available in the eternal realm. This is what ruined any drive I had to keep playing during season 3. I am glad the expansion seems to have added a ton, so I might pick it up at some point. I do wish my old favourite the Crusader would be added, we don't have a plate armoured warrior who can use a one handed weapon and shield class & I miss that from D3. I also like the Crusader as he felt like playing a holy warrior/paladin.
Thanks for this! So me and my 9 year old started playing D4 some months back, got to chapter 3 I think and then sort of got bored. I like the story bits and maybe even the grind but it gets SO easy. We’re on our first run and chose ‘hard’ (the hardest available). He’s an assassin, I’ve played both Druid and Necromancer. No season just straight main story. Should we do seasons? I’m trying to find the interest again because at least I think we should finish it. It just gets so easy and “spammy”. So how’s the latest updates helping us?
Not gonna tell u how to parent but the dlc storyline has some really gory scenes I wouldn’t show my children at that age. Besides that, I think doing season content can be fresh for both of you due to simple mechanics. The new difficulties are rough and you could help him experiment with builds and learn more practicable math while doing it!
@Eannadal that's exactly what I was thinking. I've played games that were fun and while some were repetitive it didn't feel that way because they always had something fun or new things to keep it interesting instead of the same thing over and over. As long as it keeps it feeling fresh and fun. I enjoyed my time with d4. Overall is a fun game.
That would be really sick but I think the next class will probably be paladin since they're some paladin NPCs but that could just be wishful thinking 😅
There are cosmetics I think, but don’t know about gear. The items sold at the citadel vendor dropped for me from season and barter caches so prob not unique to citadel, and things can be traded anyway.
No. I quit Diablo IV after 800 wasted hours and farming Duriel 50 times with no Uber. It is a game that does not respect your time. I deleted the game and played BG3 3 times back to back instead. Never going to give Blizzard the time of day ever again.
There's no casual pace to play this game if you really want to try out all the character classes and builds. I played a lot in season 5 and never got out of the sorcerer class because it takes forever to retool into a different build. I don't mind that it takes time to build up a character, in fact I think that keeps it interesting, but when everything resets at the end of the season along with tedious patch updates, it starts to get repetive and annoying. Slow down the seasons or carry over progress and don't charge full game price for an expansion on a MTX game 🤑😒
