"...take my helm." Man. The voice acting in this game is so good. You can just hear his pain and guilt in how he offers the helm. It's like a man that has nothing to offer, and feels bad that he couldn't offer you something better...

This story saddened me so much when I 1st played this game at the age of 8. Respect to Lachdanan for not becoming evil.

I really miss the ambience of the old Diablo games. Hence, I didn't like Diablo 3 as much. Sure the new mechanics are great and all. But the overall feel didn't seem so "ominous." Like the catacombs in Diablo 2 scared the crap out of me when I was little. The catacombs in Diablo 3 felt too fantasy-ish plus the surrounding area look like there was more depth, but you couldn't go there :( I liked the whole outlying darkness in D2 catacombs, cuz it felt somewhat claustrophobic and scary.

@LTomlinson31 he was a minor npc in the game, but an important one in the lore, in the manual. i loved diablo 1 because they created so much otherwise unneeded myth that the player doesn't see or witness in the game, but its there, the soft tasty layer that inspires.

Seeing all those succubi just blasting away at you was so painful, as I have unfortunately run across that too during a playthrough I did a few years back. Many a colorful metaphors were spewed during that part for me lol.

@567810111 i wonder if blizz north did a minus to light on the helm because its so big on the head and you cant see well through it.

@Gunnyster As you can see I didn't focus anything toward magic on this character, I wanted brute strength. I am unable to learn or even cast those spells. Just casting a town portal took almost all of my mana.

Watch the whole video and notice it takes virtually my entire mana pool just to cast town portal. All this warrior knows in this video is firebolt and town portal. I don't build my warrior characters around magic, I just play a sorcerer if I want to do that.

While watching a friend of mine playing the game, he told that if those sucubs wern't devils that he would find more fun way to deal with them... ah souvenirs from 1997...

He also voiced the warrior (most of the books are actually narrated by either the player characters or the ones who wrote it (in Lazarus' case)).

@Khornedevotee I prefer using a blade with a high speed and a + to whatever attributes I need to fill in my stats. On my latest warrior I had a shield that gave +16 to all attributes, and a sword that gave +14 to all attributes with a very fast slashing speed. I don't remember the names since my warrior has been gone for quite long - the last time I finished the game using a Rogue.

@DarkSim64: I could think of several monsters fitting for the poison damage attribute. One of them: Poison Spitters for example(a variety of the Acid Spitters :P) X). Such a pain in the ass they are. Also, Snow Witches(Succubi variety which fires blue stars) and Frost Chargers(Horned Demon variety) could both deal cold damage :). Maybe even Toad Demons could deal poison damage? Seems like them really. Hehe: Immune to Poison as well ;). Same goes for Acid Spitters, Poison Spitters, Pit Beasts >

@Khornedevotee King's haste is pretty good indeed, especially if you wear Helm of spirits (5% life steal), however this helm can only be found in Nightmare or Hell Difficulty on dungeon level 2-3 by unique monsters, and the odds are really bad too. An axe Warrior isn't taht powerful though, because you cannot have enough AC to resist in Hell/Hell. So you should use +Mana/All Atts. jewelry and All Res. armor.

@MasterofchaosX i do. and Griswold's Edge helps all the warriors use shields instead of those Crainum Bashers and those hugeass axes.

@MasterofchaosX: I agree. The best looking helm in Diablo 1 ever. Secondly though, I use a two-handed weapon at times bc it's fun to kill fast ;D. But of course, in order to make the two-handers efficient in close-combat, you need very high chance to hit. Also, most axes are pretty slow unfortunately, although understandable. Best two-handed axe must be King's Axe of Swiftness X). Pwnage! Would be nice if you had a King's Brutal Axe of Swiftness if that is possible as well :D.

Yes, Paul Eiding did a fair amount of voice acting for Diablo--in addition to Lachdanan, I believe he also did Archbishop Lazarus, and the Narrator (the voice you hear in the ending cinematic and when you're reading the books in the game).

@Khornedevotee I never knew that about Acid Spitters! Also, Black Death zombies have a nasty habit of permanently decreasing your HP by 1 for every hit they land on you....so I never melee with them.

@DarkSim64: You should be able to make up for that with the Demonspike Coat Full Plate Mail ;D: +10 strength, +50% fire resistance, -6 damage from enemies and Indestructible. Sweeeet armor I'd say(which I do XD). Of course, the fire resistance is worthless versus Succubi(Soul Burners, Snow Witches, Hell Spawn and Succubi), some Hell Mages(Cabalists and Magistrates) and Acid Spitters(such as the Hell Maws) X).

You always get him with The rogue class.

Uhg, when I last played through this game, I had this quest... I could NOT find that elixer anywhere at all. It wasn't in the pentagram room like it's supposed to be...

Warrior vs LOTS of Succubi Worse case for a warrior. Wonder why... It is always difficult for a guy to take on lots of women

that voice sounds so familiar..but i cant find anything of who voiced Lachdanan in diablo 1..... only who voiced him in D3

@SuperMegaLoser: Seems unlikely to me :P. The light radius is magical(since it's glowing and all that, so I don't think it's based on your character's sight with the eyes.

@Khornedevotee Well, DemonSpike isn't bad on Normal, since it has high enough AC, but I feel an obsidian/(+life / +all attributes) armor isn't too hard to find and better suited for an Axe Warrior. That's jsut my opinion though. ^^

@gulash86 What if you play on Hell difficulty and encounter triple immune Soul Burners? Granted, I've never reached that stage, but otherwise, there's no reliable direct way of killing them! If you encounter a large mob of them, you have to Stone Curse them ALL, so they won't kill your GOLEM.

@Kebooooo Weird, with my warrior I had a more balanced set, and those succubi would have been dust. Like Deathairoc said, firewall, golem, and nova would have worked nicely.

Leoric reminds me of Jaime Lannister in certain ways, both are kingslayers.

@mopbrothers that only works in the noob difficulty, aka normal. in hell, they are almost all immune to fire and or lightning/magic

@DarkSim64: and Hell Maws :P. Hehe, Poison Spitters could also be the only ones with a chance to deal poison damage on hit in melee combat ;D. And once you got hit by Poison Spitters' acid, you'd also take additional poison damage over time for x amount of seconds X). Damage per second and total duration would increase in each difficulty. Both from the acid bolts themselves, the acid from the acid bolts and from the Poison Spitters' acid blood :). Maybe Pit Beasts could be immune to cold?

@Gunnyster well yeh spells would help with ranged attackers, what about hell level melee enemies such as the blood knights, with lowered dex and vitality from putting it into magic, you will not survive thier mass onslaughts unless you were lucky as fuck to get brilliant gear.

@DarkSim64: Maybe even Acid Spitters(all of them, only that the Acid Spitter Acid Spitters(rofl XD), although can be called Acid Spitter Hell Hounds or Acid Spitter Hell Spitters, since they're called that as well, could be even better at it) could have a passive ability to decrease armor and endure on enemies hit for x amounts of sec and x amounts of dam. Would be dangerous. Also, durability would decrease. Also, if you'd hit them with a melee weapon, it'd damage your weapon bc of the acid.

@MasterofchaosX: Nice. I've also come to realize, a long time ago, that you'll only be able to reach level 24-25 on Singleplayer as the highest attainable.

@MasterofchaosX: Oh, and make that King's Axe of Swiftness/King's Brutal Axe of Swiftness a Great Axe variant ;). That is the best axe in all of Diablo 1 ;D. The best to have the King's, Swiftness and Brutal attributes on for the record.

Yeah! It's also difficult for the sorcerer especially in hell difficulty, because the soul burners are inmmune to magic, fire and lightning. I think that this is the worst case for all of the levels of the game. I think that they are worse than the Advocates of level 16.

I wonder if they will bring Lachdanan back in the third diablo.

Ermm...hasn't anybody noticed that the guy who did the voice for Lachdanan also voiced Tassadar in StarCraft and most likely Tyrael in Diablo 2?!? Btw, both Lachdanan and Tassadar are the tragic character type, and I'm a sucker for those...

Although, before that you must be able to connect online in order for us to find eachother :P. The problem with Diablo 1: It's hard to be able to LAN on it(atleast for me). Easier to go Battle.Net though :P. Aaaah, Diablo 1. Such a good and solid game. Wish poison damage and cold damage were in the game back then though :P.
