That's an old Tuffy Cargo. The current goes all the way to the back seat so there is no three-inch gap. It's right up against the back seat. It is easy for one person to install and remove the top and rear panel when need cargo space with seats folded down. No rattling sounds. I can stand on the cover and somewhat waterproof in light rain. The top can lift up and has a brace to hold open.
I don't know, maybe it's just me but I think I like the Tuffy one better,it also looks simpler to install, the amount of space u say lost behind seat doesn't seem that much to me but then I'm not an overlander i just keep some tools, recovery equipment and few other things so either one would be ok to me,what's the price difference between the 2
We ran the Tuffy and understand completely. We needed something to provide the max amount of security space so we went with the Diabolical Inc. Thanks for watching.
8 Gallon. We purchased these in 2016 for $25 a piece with the demand right now they are much more, for sure shop around but the Alta Cargo Rack will hold 3 of them tightly and just secure with one ratchet strap and your good to go. amzn.to/2KmVNUI
To have a complete storage solution as well as to be able to remove center section quickly the install is more complex but in our opinion worth it. Thanks for watching
I will say that we started the install with the hardtop on and found out quickly that it was much easier having it removed. This is because you are going to be in different odd positions in the Jeep when trying to bolt and put all together. Having the extra head room and maneuverability was worth it even though we were installing it in 20 degree weather. I would recommend removing the hardtop. Hope this helps.
The only problem with the diabolical.us that it doesnt ork with the recline kits and tuffy's do. Dont get me wrong the diabolical is way better but its limited to stock seat configurations.
There was a redesign for the diabolical and it now is compatible with recline kit. I have the first generation of the product but you can contacted them to confirm but they are listening to concerns and I believe that has been addressed
Yes it will. When you order you can select from year, model, and if you have a factory sub or not. So many models and changes through the years but all have been addressed to fit for JK. ;-)
So cold. The top in the video is one solid piece so not much can get in on the sides but it is not completely waterproof. But can hold so much more weight on top and has been awesome for an extended amount of space. Sorry for the delay in response. This comment just showed up on RU-vid.
Will work harder next time. Thanks for watching. Diabolical Inc has great install videos so we did not want to replicate efforts of recording another install video. This was focused on a comparison of the two.
Prices vary depending what options your looking for. This is modular so you can add other options when ever you want. Check out diabolical.com for more info
Does the slipstream's wings mount to the side where the top would mount? Is there any more to taking the top off after installing than just unscrewing the 6 bolts?
Slipstream mounts use the 6 bolts as well as to the internal structure down below. If you are asking what does it take to remove the top after install it is just the 6 bolts. Recommend quick releases if you take your top off multiple times throughout the year. So much faster and no tools necessary for those 6 hard top bolts. amzn.to/3a6l93E If I miss understand your question please let me know. We installed our slipstream on our own so we are very familiar with the product.
@@JeepsRoc i guess, i was asking if the slipstream mounts under the top. Were there any fitment issues because of the top being any higher because of this?
Thank you for the nice comment. This is a modular system, so many options and accessories so you don't have to rebuy if you decide to change up your rig.
This was the current specs I found on Diabolical Inc. website for JKU models. Works with Recline Kits under 3/4" If you have further questions I would recommend you contact them, before purchasing. Thanks for watching.
You can if you remove the carpet, and mat. It would be one of the smaller dometic. Recommend to contact Diabolical first for more information on what models would work. We don’t own one.
Trust me on this the objective was to show how well the boxes and shipping of their products. So much material, tape, and packaging. Lots of time used not shown on camera of unpacking. Thanks for watching
Security Question: Assume I have either one installed. My top is off, my windows are down. I am at the beach surfing. Can’t someone walk up hit the electric unlock and open the tailgate? What am I missing?
Your electric looks should not have power after you turn your Jeep off. Suggest to test your theory and see if it unlocks if it does than your auxiliary power may still be on to the switch. Jeep off, should be no power so the locks should stay engaged making it secure
Jeeps Roc Electric locks have to be powered in order for the key fob to work. So, I rolled down my windows, closed the door, locked the Jeep with the key fob. Reached in unlocked the doors electrically and opened the tailgate. I like the the idea with the shelf and all. But, there is NO security. Maybe if you removed the doors completely but not with the doors on.
The JK’s power door locks are disabled after about 20-30 seconds making the door switches useless. So even with the windows and top down you can’t just hit the unlock button on the doors and open the tailgate.
Well done video and review !! Agree with everything you said, have the stuffy in my JKU & ordered the slipstream for my JLU based on the comparison I was able to do @ Bantam and videos like yours .. CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO ARRIVE !!!
