What you said about dementia is so true. My grandmother had a surgery and had a stroke as a complication. After a day or two they said she had a week to live. After a week they said she had a month to live and moved her to hospice. After a month in hospice they diagnosed her with dementia and said she’d need to be in assisted living with 24-7 nursing care for the rest of her life. After another month they sent her home instead, with my mom but said she needed constant supervision because she had dementia. By then, we were all like no this has nothing to do with the stroke or dementia. she’s been this way since as long as we can remember (in my case since the early 80s). She did die a few years later, basically cardiac arrest and multiple organ failure, and she was pretty much lucid to the end.
I appreciate you sharing your family's experience. It is a tragedy when doctors fail to recognize ADHD in adults (or children), which happens all too often.
How to have a better life if you have ADHD 1.Supplements. 2.therapy. 3.biofeedback. 4.Calming techniques. 5.Maintaining healthy sleep habits. 6.Paying attention to your diet. 7.Getting enough exercise.
