In this hour-long ADHD Experts webinar, Roberto Olivardia, Ph.D., will discuss how adults and children with ADHD can overcome the ADHD-specific obstacles that are often prevent a person from moving beyond eating challenges.

Oh my gosh I wish I was male so I could see you for an appointment. I literally wrote a 5 page letter to my new psychiatrist describing everything about how I believe I was basically treated for an eating disorder for over 15 years, labeled chronic and treatment resistant after over 30 inpatient admissions, 4 residential treatment stays, and all different types of outpatient treatments, and they were just trying to put out the flames instead of shooting at the base of the fire. Between this video and your OCD/ADHD video, I wish I could see you. I also had told the psychiatrist how I've always been "assigned" an OCD diagnosis, though I've never had any compulsions, so I've always just removed the C myself-so I found it hilarious that you actually did that in your video. You're amazing! I think you would totally understand how my brain works and I could quit trying to figure it out myself-I also wrote in my letter to the psychiatrist that I'm tired of playing games and trying to figure out what's wrong with my brain, I've always know there was something I couldn't pin point-I just want a brain scan Daniel Amen style to get straight to the point. I find myself dropping my jaw and nodding along with your videos-so I just wanted to thank you for that at the very least!!

Thank you for sharing this, Roberto, I had passed on unintentionally my eating disorder to my son, we found Harley Street Hypnotherapist through his online reputation for dealing with numerous conditions , as our local therapist was sympathetic but mostly ineffectual. The first session began to treat the most harmful elements of this life threatening problem and we were able to see an improvement straight away. The second appointment was targeted at some of the associated characteristics such as over exercising and the connection of feeling benefit from the deprivation of food and drink. It was very soon after this my son was able to control his eating habits again and he along with his entire family were able to put this horrific disorder that was destroying us all, in to a memory of a constant nightmare, that we have awoken from now. I then went on to take treatment myself, though it took around 3 months. There is hope for everyone.

ADDitude is a great website. The videos on RU-vid are either very old, or too long to maintain concentration. Just a little feedback.

Great presentation! You did a great job mixing in empirical evidence, personal experience, and clinical application. I enjoyed it.

This is awesome, thanks for the video. It's great to see more and more people working on ADHD research that are affected by it themselves. I'm also really glad he touches on the aspect of gender in eating disorders. Sadly most people still assume they are "women's disorders" when, like he said, they can affect people of literally any gender.

7:20 - I don't think so. I would throw up straight away. It was just a food milkshake, so there was no time for the fat to be absorbed. Drinking a thickshake with it, instead of water, made sure it all could ... get out. I can't believe I did that for a few years, several times a day, in the 90s, but I did remain thin. There's no way I want to do it again! 12:40 - ah, yes, I didn't "binge" much, either. Indulge, yes, like a cheeseburger, but I would just feel so guilty if it weren't super healthy or fat-free, I'd feel like it was poisoning me, and I had to get it out.

I developed anorexia as a child as a form of controlling my life when my abusive parent was a bully ....i had no control over anything else so I took control over what I ate. I despised fat people and considered them as lazy or weak so I also quit eating so I would be the opposite of people I hated who were fat.. I thought nearly everyone was fat and to this day im not anorexic but my beliefs never changed. 8 still see normal weight in society is factually overweight. I think society as a whole is so overweight that normal is even fat.

Orthorexia is basically me but ....my obsession with health has led me to be the picture of health....and never sick. Everyone says they cant imagine eating 100% raw organic fruit and vegetables but its the only food that has ever worked for me. 8 recommend it for anyone who has struggled with anorexia which I did as a 10 year old child. With raw fruits and vegetables I never have to worry about eating too much of what I eat because 5his is the diet we were designed to eat. No animal cools its food ...cooking our food destroys it. You cant call it a negative thing or extreme thing when a person eats a natural diet for their own species ! The extreme diet is one that includes fast food and junk food and fried foods
