I enjoy watching your videos. You are accurate and detailed. We just had an 02 Tahoe w/ dual air in the shop last week for a/c inop. Belt was broke. Knew pattern failure of slugging compressors wiping out and told them before we put one on. Had to see what the pressures were. Belt on with correct charge found tensioner noisy on first start up. Slight flutter on high side as well. A/c locking up then freeing. Found a TSB pertaining to this. Was very interested to see that the TSB also says to install filters in the system. System was about 41 deg.F, which is pretty good in a 90 deg. F shop. I personally think that inline filters just before and just after the compressor should be installed as OE, not as an aftermarket option. The sensors that are already in the car will give some kind of clues as to whether they are clogged. Some cars have reminders for other maintenance items besides oil changes, why not on a/c filters too?
did yall listen good. changed the pulley and the belt because wanted to eliminate that from the noise making. then used the scope on the compressor to make sure that was where the noise was coming from.... hmmmmmmmm people people people.... the scope should have been used first. now the customer had to pay for the tensioner and labor and the belt
Man! Where is your shop? If I ever need to send my car to a shop, I want to send it to you guys! You have to be one of the most honest shops out there. It really shows that you take customer satisfaction as a top priority!
Another great video guys. Good stuff. A little detail on the location of the orifice tube and expansion valve might be helpful. I know where to find them and what to look for, but only because I was showed by some one else.
That much debris in the system means it is all throughout...thus any new parts installed will soon plug up again and or be damaged...you need to mention the importance of flushing out the entire system before installing any new parts.
Yes this is very important if not the most important step is flushing out the contaminate. I learned this the HARD way! had to buy new compressor AND condenser for the SECOND time. Ruined the brand new ones first go around not flushing my system.
Great video - thanks! I'm trying to diagnose an issue with the rear A/C in my limo and the "touch" method has revealed that the expansion valve is likely plugged (both pipes are warm back there). I replaced the compressor but forgot about the orifice and expansion valves. Front cooling is mediocre, rear just plain sucks. I know what I need to do now....
I have a 2003 chevy suburban last year the A/c worked great till right at the end of summer it all the sudden started blowing nothing but hot are I had the mechanic check it out and the Freon was empty the compressor was replace about 1yr. prior to this happening so I knew it wasn't that anyways he put new Freon in it and it worked great for about 2 days and then started blowing hot again there's no dye anywhere near the front lines and haven't seen any near the rear lines. is there a way to check it with out spending a arm and a leg buying Freon to put in it I need it fixed where we live in TEXAS and the heat here is sometimes over 100 degrees
I have a 2004 mercury mountaineer and I had someone put refrigerant in my a/c compressor but the manual says it need 56 ounces and we only could fit 24 ounces. My question is is the a second a/c port in the rear of the truck.
Your video is very helpful.. Thanks for sharing.. I have a question I have a 2000 chevy suburban and for time to time the rear a/c will shut off it comes back on after a few minutes do you have any idea what I can be?? Thank you in advance
thanks for the really good video. I have an 06 Dodge Grand Caravan and the back blower hasn't worked ever since I ran the battery down one time shortly after I bought the vehicle. I just never went in and got it fixed do you have any idea what that could be? I think it's just the blower. is it a fuse or something?
Chryslers usually have to be reinitialized after disconnecting the batt'ry. It's a series of simultaneous button presses on the front HVAC control panel. Can't remember the sequence, but it should be on the web. Hope this helps.
My Question is I have a 1998 Ford Club Wagon..and cold air is present at the vent but with the knob on high there is little air flow and it does have rear vents also but the same thing is happening with those vents so its consistent throughout
i have a 01 expedition and the ac worked great and last year a mechanic sucked out all old freon and put new freon in and both blew ice cold thru summer in las vegas then winter came stopd using now it blows warm air checked the guages and its full...i see the compressor kick on and off..
If the orifice tube/expansion block is clogged, the whole system needs to be flushed and use stethoscope first before replacing parts find noise first then replace parts
i like your videos... explained real well. Can you do a video for fixing the air vents? I have air coming from the top and bottom. Just not the front vents (and rear but im watching this now...) 07 GMC envoy. 😃 Thank you!
Sara Bee there's actually an easy fix for that. You can stick your hand underneath the center of the dashboard. There's an electric actuator switch that a metal line goes into. Small black box. That metal line which should be copper colored. Sits alongside of a circular gear. With your finger. Turn that gear downward and it will rotate. Opening your front vents.
Hi; thank-you for posting this video...I do have a quick question though, hopefully someone can answer. Is the rear system referred to as the auxiliary climate control system?
Hello. Great video. How about if the rear blower does not turn on but the front AC blower works. Is it the fuse or AC blower actuator? Or something else? Thanks
I have an A/C problem on my Mitsubishi Endeavor myself. The A/C blows cold air sometimes and others the a/c light will blink. Pep Boys told me the error code u1111 and said I needed to take it to the dealership because it was a computer error. Is there a fix-it-yourself thing that I could do or I have to take it to Mitsubishi for this?
so once you take care of the rear like that is there a place back there to add freon or is it all done through the compressor under the hood. Pls and thank you. It's a 97 suburban 1500 with a 5.7 front and rear air two-wheel drive
my 2004 trailblazer rear air stop blowing, checked fuses, was driving and it came on about 5 seconds and went back off a couple times, where do I start or how to fix
I felt the pipes under the truck near the exhaust and only one is cold and other hot is that normal or do I have a plugged valve I have same symptoms of the vehicle you fixed on this video except the noise in the engine.
I have a 2001 chev Tahoe under the hood the air conditioning tube are cold but it wont blow cold air in side. Do I need to change to orfice tube or is there something else wrong.
I have an 01 express conversion van and i replaced the rear expansion valve for no rear a/c and it was plugged up so the guages read 200 on high side. And. 60 on the low side, pipes are cold and box where evap is, is also cold, rear fan runs but still no cold air?
2005 Yukon Denali. I serviced the A/C. Had leaking Schraeder valve. Replaced that and orifice tube which looked brand new. Front blows cold. Rear is hot. I reached up under the right rear wheel well. The large a/c line was cold, the small one hot. Could this expansion valve be my problem? Thanks.
Thanks for the quick reply. I may also check out the blend door actuator motor while I'm in there. That looks like less of a PITA to replace than the expansion valve! Thanks again. I've been a subscriber to your fantastic channel for several years now.
Two year follow-up...lol. It was the broken blend door on the rear a/c housing. Had to buy the whole assembly. Not too bad though...around $100 dollars
@@lizard944 the realfixesrealfast guy said in the video if you have 1 cold and 1 hot pipe on the hand method then you prob have a blend door problem but then he answers your question about expansion valve being the problem with 1 cold, 1 hot pipe saying that was probably your best bet..... Total contradiction of his info.....really??
Hi, my front ac. Is working ok but rear is blowing outside temp air. I do have a condenser leak on my front condenser so I'm low on freon and I have a new one on order. I'm wondering if it's possible for my rear ac to be blowing outside temp air and front ac to be working with low freon. Thanks for any help 2002 Tahoe
I have a 2003 yukon xl slt, the rear ac just stopped working. Can't turn on from front controls at all. Every now and then it will kick on out of nowhere, and won't turn off when I turn my truck off. I have power to the rear blower motor just not working at controls. How would I go about fixing this?
I don't know of anyone that could do anything other than guess without actually testing but not does sound like an electrical problem. Get a diagram of the circuit and start there. Thats what I would do, and what any repair shop would do.
could A/C compressor turn off the truck? I also got an 01 tahoe, with rear A/C but everytime I turn on the A/C. It turns off the truck and I need to mess with the fuel pump sensor to turn it on.
Help.. Have a 04 suburban. No cabin filter. No flap door behind the radio. Replaced the blend door twice in case of a bad part. The compression is great/ the rear is ice cold, why is the front not cold? There has to be a flap some where else. I also turned the blend door by hand 90* when running feel the hot but cool on the other side. Help
I replaced the rear blend door now the AC works but it only blows on low and medium high position does not work even after changing the resistor any ideas? 2011. E350
review the electrical diagram. There are two paths for the current to flow. one is directly to the high speed, the other path is thru the speed resistors. You either need to replace the blower resistor or repair that part of the wire circuit
I have a 2001 Chevy suburban 5.3 rear ac how do I know if I have 2 oriface tubes or do I have 1 oriface and a rear expansion valve I can I tell please help
Sir, I have a similiar 2001 Suburban with a freon leak. My detector can't find it in the front, so I suspect the rear. Problem: can't figure out how to remove the access panel. Help...?
i have a 2002 explorer the weather is getting hot and the problem is that i turn on the ac and in the front it give cold air but in the back its hot air. if anyone can help id gladly appreciate you
My KIA Seltos is blowing warm air of more than 25 degree Celsius when aircon temperature is set at 25, 24, 23 degree, KIA workshop claimed that it is normal. Any comments?
I have a 2009 Pathfinder. My rear AC fan is always stuck on high - and even remains when I turn the AC off. I am wondering if anyone has any idea how to fix this
2015 chevy sonic 1.8 LT, its been in the deelership 3xs already they replaced the ac compressor 1x and then the ac condensor 2xs. the only time it gets cold is for about 10 minuets and it shuts off and gets warm in the car. iv only had it 2 months and have only driven it for 2 weeks of owning the car. and the deelership cant figure out whats wrong with my car. what do i do i need help?
MaryAnn, I'm sorry to hear about your trouble. It's a 2015 and therefore I assume under full warranty. From what you have said I can only think that the dealer simply made a guess and replaced parts without any diagnosis. A/C is not that hard to diagnose. They should be able to figure it and and if I were you, I would NOT accept anything else than a complete fix. The fact that it does get cold but only for 10 mins tells me that the mechanical aspect of the a/c is ok. It must then be a "control" aspect that is not allowing it to engage. Hope this helps
+realfixesrealfast thank you, yes from what i was told they are getting their enginers on it. it sounds like a cycle system problem and or electrical. it only blows cold when it rains and it shuts off after driving a long distance of about 1 mile which is around 10 minuets. iv tryed to explain it to the deelership but they are giving me the run around and say its blowing cold and only drove it a short distance. my plans are going up their thursday to test drive it with them and bring my mom so they can know theirs something wrong with it. i just wish they would do a proper dignostic on it instead of just driving it.
I never noticed because I never run the ac but one day I ran the ac and then when I turned off the ac, it still sounded like a fan was on in the back. Right where this guy was working. I turned off the ac in the front and in the back, made sure it was all off and there was like a fan noise still coming from the back. What’s that ? Anybody know ?
No, not at all. There is only one compressor, so if you have cold in either the front or the back but not the other, then the problem has to be at the point where the compressed gas expands and makes it cold. That would be the expansion valve or orifice tube. Depending on which you vehicle has.
I have a 07 chevy tahoe that doesn't blow air from the back i was wondering if you can help me out to what can be some of the causes and if all tahoes have the back A/C located there where the older ones have it? please help and thank you in advance
