Thank you for this content and for working to educate others on carotid webs. It's been difficult to find information online and I haven't seen much new data over the last 2 years. In Feb 2022, at the age of 45, I experienced a wake-up stroke that was caused by a carotid web. I am a very healthy female (clean diet, 5 days/week moderate to high intensity workouts for most of my adult life) and was initially misdiagnosed with a carotid tear. After a 3 month period of waiting for my artery to heal, the follow-up images led to a web diagnosis. I had surgury for a carotid stent in June 2022 and have had no further issues. Can you share your insight into why I should stay on a lifelong dose of 81 mg aspirin for blood thinning properties just because I now have a stent? Thank you!

Having had a stroke is a risk factor in itself for developing future strokes, regardless of the etiology, therefore patients are put on lifelong aspirin treatment. Asprin also contributes to making sure the stents themselves don't start causing a thrombus that lead to stroke. But your case might be different so best to ask your doctor.
