Piedad Bonnett is a poet, novelist and playwright. She was a university professor for three decades at the Universidad de los Andes. Her awards include the Colcultura National Poetry Prize, the Casa de América Prize for American poetry, the José Lezama Lima Prize of Casa de las Américas, the Poetas del Mundo Latino Prize (Aguas Calientes, Mexico) and the Generación del 27 Prize in Málaga, Spain.
