I never flew one, but as you've mentioned there's quite many of them in Europe. I like the slick design and admire Diamond's safety characteristics in general. What I've seen, however, is that they do well on well kept runways, but don't like soft fields. Laminar airfoli and small engine require to keep the nose gear on the ground for longer, during the run, than you'd expect from old Cessna, so I recall it was much easier to get a prop strike on wet and bumpy surface in DA-20. BTW. Fore challenging conditions yak-12, Wilga or An-2, if you have big familly, are still not matched 😉

I did my ppl training on that plane and I must say you hit the point in many regards. One of the most amusing plane reviews I‘ve ever seen! Greetings from Graz (LOWG)
