Hello there! I am a new diamond dove owner and was wondering if you had any tips for training/taming the birds. The little one I bought is very skittish, and I hope to one day have her as friendly as yours!
KickPunch20 hi, talk to your diamond dove everyday, you can sit beside the cage everyday for a while, and when she accepts you beside her put some food in your hand and put it in the cage everyday until she comes in you hands and then later you can let her out. let me know if it helps.

Hello! I notice that your dove is bonded to you. I have a diamond dove and it’s been one month since I got her, she goes on my hand, she isn’t scared of me, and I let her have plenty time out the cage. I’m not sure if she’s bonded to me tho. She isn’t mean to me but I want to know how to get your bird more interested in you, and more bonded to you. Any tips? Thank you for the video it was adorable
I have a diamond dove egg in my incubator at the moment, there wasn't much information available on how to incubate them but I've candled it and I seem to have got it right so far as I could see the developing embryo. But I will have to hand rear it and I'm not at all sure how?
Has anyone experienced dust with diamonds? I’ve read they aren’t very dusty at all, much like finches due to their size. I know some pigeons and doves leave their dander everywhere If anyone can let me know I’d appreciate w
The Crazy One Hi, in the wild they do live in pair. In captivity it depends on what you want out of your experience with them and how much time you have for them. If you want your dove to be attached to you and you have a lot of time for it get one, if you don't have a lot of time it can get lonely.
powerrangergirl9010 hi, usually in the morning there is the morning voice mixed with the affectionate call, that's what it sounds like. I only have one dove but she can get protective of certain places and she drives my husband away from her cage especially. they like high places so she might only be protective of those places. powerrangergirl9010 hi, that's a good sign, you should be happy it means she is bonded :). if there is no male there will be no babies. an other egg will be layed, they usually have two. you should let her sit on it for 14 days and then through them out. if you take them out to soon she will lay more eggs to soon and its not good for her calcium. do you have a calcium supplement?
powerrangergirl9010 yes I would suggest giving some calcium, I will make a video on what supplements I give my dove. you have two doves? if one is a male you will have babies.
powerrangergirl9010 yes females have thinner orange rings around their eyes, but for the brown color I have seen a lot of female the same color has males and mine is quite blue. Some females also have a little thinker ring or males thinner but usually you can see a noticable difference.
Lol I know this comment is old but do diamond doves not kiss like rock pigeons do? I have grown and mated adult birds I've raised still do this when they want attention enough, even if they ignore me immediately post cuddling XD
Wish my diamond dove, Eve would do that. But she's too bossy, and mean. She's still doesn't like us getting near here. We had her for, years. She's a little used to us, but she doesn't stay still. Yes. We had a mate for her. Adam. He was the sweet one. Me and him were friends. But he had a huge tumor, and was mentality handicap. He died last year. My little boy. But since then, Eve's been nicer to me. Guess she doesn't want to be alone. We're slowly becoming friends. (She's still bossy to me though. The little bird brat.)😋
I just adopted two diamond doves a couple months ago, they adjusted to their new home just fine, and the female starting to get used to me and my family. However, she is still afraid of my hands, and the male puffs at the slightest movement, sound ect. He spend most of his day puffed like this, and is very afraid of my hands.(he had an accident before we adopted him where his tail feathers were accidentally pulled out. They haven't completely grown back, and I don't believe they will, every time he gets a new feather back there, it falls out almost immediately.) could you please give me some advice on how to make not afraid of my hands? It's been two months since we got them, and I think they are warming up at a normal pace, but I'm open to any advice you could give me. Thank you.
Sky Blue hi, that's great getting a couple of diamond dove. They are a type of dove that are more skittish but you can still make them tame. It took me a few months for my diamond dove not to be afraid of my hands. You have to that are bonded to each other or that are going to be. It might take more time because of that. I would suggest talking to them a lot, they are very good at recognizing voices. And offer food in your hand regularly. You could also try to bring them in a small safe room one at a time for quality time with you. I hope these tips help.
@@joseport6863 unfortunately I discovered my cockatiel dead at the bottom of his cage shortly after putting him in for the night. I have no idea what killed him. I was so devastated that I got a cat afterward. Cats don't drop dead for no reason.
