I love how Furuya had all the attention so no one paid attention to Sawamura... even the coach was suprised at Eijun’s growth!! This is one of the best scenes! I really wished they won tho😭
Biona Tom I’m glad Sawamura finally got good attention, but feel bad for Furuya now. I hated every time Furuya was pitching, but he is on the grind just as much as Sawamura.
I feel the same but I also get why coach Kataoka put his faith on Furuya more than Sawamura. Furuya performance in Koshien is just incredible. He is living up to coach expectations and also his number (ace number 1). Also, coach Kataoka got influenced by Furuya baseball notes the day before the game. If Furuya perform perfectly in that game, he would have won the ace battle between Sawamura imo.
I know Im late but I love when Sawamura gets attention also i hate when people doubt him like even at games the crowd kinda doubts and its really sad that Furuya is more reliable and gets cheered on more I guess the people say.
This one of my favorite scenes in the anime, really showed how sawamura cluthes up for his team while everyone was depending on furuya and he really caught everyone's attention and was acknowledged by others jus how much he's capable of.
Actually even the enemies see the potential of sawamura it just sad that his own teammate and coach do not see that or pay attention to it they just focus on furuya same also with miyuki...it just sad to me because sawamura went to seido high because he wants miyuki to catch his pitch and I don't know if he trust sawamura like the same with furuya he is not even trying to open up with sawamura not like in furuya and he keep on saying that they are partner maybe just in battery nothings else...
He was always the better pitcher. A variety of breaking balls and guts to pitch under pressure plus he can learn new pitch overnight and apply it in the actual game they may call him dumb or stupid maybe because he’s loud but truth be told he’s a talented and a brilliant pitcher with the heart of an ace.
Better is very subjective. Sawamura has a lot more variety so there's more to think about. But you also have to consider the pure power from Furuya. And if Furuya masters control and adds another type of pitch, he can become incredibly dangerous. It's like saying Red is better than Blue or vice versa. The reason there are multiple types of pitchers is because not only is the pitching type important vs other batters, but also the mental/physical state for that specific game. This anime doesn't have just one main character. The main character is the entire team. Furuya was better the previous season, that's why he's the ace now. It's always evolving. If you only focus on what's "better", you will lose. "Better" changes depending on circumstances.
@@SonlangSiek Not exactly! Sawamura was the better pitcher. Furuya, till this part was the same Furuya from one year ago. In almost 2 years his ability was his strength JUST THAT! In two years he didn't care enough to learn to control his pitches (partially this was Kataoka's fault but also his) because if you took his strength was left? Nothing. Meanwhile, Sawamura tried his best to improve his pitching, it happened but he on his own decided to learn more about pitch calling, improved his batting and reviewed his games, Furuya followed him. See what I going? Sawamura is very aware of his weakness and tries to be better but Furuya can't. Once batters adjust to his speed it's kind of over for him but Sawamura being able to throw different pitches, and have good control is more useful to the team and is more effective with different types of batters.
I was sick over the weekend and for some reason I wanted to watch diamond no ace for the first time and I binged the entire series until Tuesday and seeing Eijun get the ace number made me cry
@@erzu17 oh plz i watched around 50 (didn't count tbh might be less or more but definitely more than 10) i just get bored after 2-3 episodes daily out of anime i do have life...
I really love and hate this situation. One I feel strongly about. I’ve been cheering for Sawamura the whole time as he’s been through ups and downs, but he has grown tremendously. Compared to Furuya, he has shown more growth physically and mentally so it feels extremely unfair that they put Furuya on a pedestal. Just because Furuya has strength and speed doesn’t mean his weaknesses should be ignored. I don’t hate Furuya, but he’s inconsistent and usually selfish. Most of the time it feels like he is playing by himself, yet they overlook it just because he is doing well or he is the ace. Yeah he did really well in Koshien, but why are they forgetting Sawamura was also a big reason why they got there in the first place? I would understand keeping Furuya in if they lost only 2-3 runs, but they literally lost 5 points in a single inning AND kept walking players. It was obvious he was self destructing, yet the coach and Miyuki kept waiting. It was not the time and place to let him “figure it out.” Especially since it is single elimination AND there are 2 other pitchers who are READY anytime. Very ironic how Coach Ochiai recalled Coach Kataoka saying he wouldn’t sacrifice the team for Furuya. I know Coach Ochiai was trying to tell Furuya before that he was better than everyone subtly by saying he could be the best in Japan however, it was Furuya’s fault for interpreting it as doing it all on his own. Coach Kataoka was too selfish and so was Furuya. Even Miyuki kept him in for the “ace” pride more than evaluating the situation. Sawamura has come in during clutch moments many times. I could really feel Sawamura frustration and hurt from ep 15-17. He has every right to be angry and I was so glad he didn’t take anyone’s shit and told them how it is. Like if I was in that situation, I would be insulted if someone was telling me the situation like Miyuki as Sawamura was walking up on the mound. “I know my role” was so powerful. It’s also heartbreaking when he felt like it was his fault the team didn’t have faith in him. It really isn’t. Just because he is happy and energetic often doesn’t mean he’s easy. He has feelings too. Everyone wants to be appreciated and it’s upsetting that they can’t see that. It’s nice that they were finally appreciating and noticing his skills, but the fact that they were neglecting him won’t change. On a side note I really like the parallel to Mei though. If you came this far thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
Spoiler: Don't worry. They won against Ichidaisen when Eijun became the Ace :) Ichidaisen only managed to score 1 point. He pitched in all innings and was it almost a shutout game if it wasn't for a missed catch made by Maezono.
Watching this makes me sooooo excited i watched season 1 years back when it was airing and thought it was the end but im literally saving this for this summer cauz the vibe would be perf
I always remember Furuya’s words to Sawamura. “Then you can compete with me”. LIKE THAT MADE ME MAD Our Eijun suffered for so long now. He left his friends and his comfort zone to pursue his dreams. And he proved to us that hard work will always pay off, one way or another.
Why did that make you mad? Furuya was acknowledging Eijun as his rival like he has since the beginning when he told Miyuki he never thought he was better than Eijun. You guys just don’t like Furuya.
Genuinely, I cried this episode. Actually, from the scene where Miyuki agrees to catch for Furuya even though Sawamura asked first was when my frustration became something you could physically see. Sawamura has been put in the back time and time again despite coming in clutch for the team time and time again. Even cleaning up for the so called ace. Now, this might make you believe that I hate Furuya, I don’t, but I could never root for him at the level I root for Sawamura. Furuya is good, but he’s unreliable. Something mentioned early on the series, around the time when Tanba is the ace, is that an ace is reliable. But it’s exactly what throws me off, why the hell isn’t Sawamura the ace, by this logic? Who do they turn to when they’re having an issue? Because I know damn well it isn’t Furuya. The team as a whole seems to forget that Sawamura was one of the big reasons they were even able to set foot into Nationals. He might come off as an airhead but when he’s told to do the job, he does it. I like the coach a lot, but this is definitely one of his worst moments, he did what he said he wouldn’t do. He basically gave up the game for a player. Part of me is glad they lost, they needed humbling fr, they needed a reminder that Sawamura is an amazing pitcher. Relief pitcher is just another way to say “backup pitcher”. I don’t know how Sawamura has handled it this good because personally, I’d be livid. Sawamura has my full support, I’m really hoping Sawamura will finally be taken much more seriously after this as well as receive the very much deserved credit he is owed.
Actually, being overlooked happens in real life more often than not. We've all committed the same sin at some point in life, ignoring someone because they were overshadowed by another. Everyone will keep flocking around that person and this poor fellow anyone barely remembers gets left in the dust until someone needs them. Honestly speaking, Kataoka has never overlooked Sawamura, but this time, he made that very mistake he avoided for so long due to a sudden burst of compassion affecting his judgement after reading Furuya's journal. We've all done that before, letting our guard down because of our emotions. It's human nature. He even acknowledged his errors, so it was hard when in a later match, Kataoka had to do what Sawamura predicted he would do if he made the same mistake as Furuya, even though Kataoka did it to save him from being broken like Furuya was. Even the team acknowledged they can't blame Sawamura for being angry with them as they've neglected him for so long. As for our two pitchers, Furuya has a natural talent for baseball. He's humble and works as hard as the rest, but he's not developing in the right way because his problem is psychological: When pressured, he overcompensates which affects him negatively. Meanwhile, Sawamura is more skill-based and he has untapped potential, thus he never stopped developing. He is also more resilient mentally as he had experienced a lot of humiliation. This is why he ended up surpassing Furuya and finally getting the ace number before the next major tournament. In fact, in the latest chapters, Sawamura has become near unstoppable. The main focus of the story had been Sawamura's journey to become ace. Now that he's achieved his personal goal, the current story focus is about him showing why he deserves to hold on to the title.
I love and i hate this episode. I love cause finally Sawamura was able to shut everyones mouth with his pitching skill, hate cause he had to clean up all the Furuya mess and how everyone as almost begging to Sawamura to strike out Ichidai Third cleanup.
One of the few series where I wish the protagonist had left his school and went to a rival school instead. Eijun always had ace talent but they never nurtured him right imo. This moment for me was just such a pain in the ass. I get the "character development" and all that bullshit but at some point it's like dude, hasn't he earned some small measure leeway? He was such a good pitcher and yet they never seemed to even want him to pitch! If I'd had my way, he would have had a rival school recruit him and he would've competed against Seido. Not as some revenge thing but as a way to say, "How good am I really as a pitcher?" I'd have had him transfer and that be the next focus of the series: His prospects as a pro and elevating to that next gear after battling Seido.
Furuya as the ace gives up five runs in the first half of the game. The coach: I sleep Sawamura as the ace gives up 1 run despite having a bad game The coach: Sub him out, he's unstable today
One of the most impressive moments eijun had. 1 out, bases loaded, up against the clean up hitters and struck both of them out with 3 pitches each. as the commentator said, shit was truy a perfect relief pitching straight out of the bullpen
I'm just so confused how they have not utilized sawamura's pitch even in season 1.... Like bro nothing could teach you better than experience but coach was too reluctant in using his pitches, neglected him even in the name of nurturing the "ace" in priority. Lol. I can feel sawamura's frustration in season 2 so much I was so invested in this anime and cried when he said "I know my role" in this episode. I would scream Tf out after this game. Coach should be thankful to sawamura coz he's persistent and goal driven coz if not they would have just wasted a very big asset of their team. Kudos to the author and artist for this very good animation.
Furuya and Eijun both have the aspects of being an ace. Furuya has powerful pitches making it hard for the batters to have a contact with it while Eijun's pitches are peculiar although the batters can make a contact with them but usually it'll end up as a foul or they'll be out. Furuya lacks the mentality of being a true ace while Eijun lacks the perfection of his pitches. If they can take control of their weaknesses then there is no reason why they shouldn't be an ace. 😁 ‼️‼️‼️SPOILER BELOW‼️‼️‼️ In the manga, Miyuki opened up to Furuya and talked about being a "Pro". Eijun heard their conversation and was somehow jealous of Furuya because he was "chosen" by Miyuki to talk about the things in the future which made him kinda frustrated that he wasn't able to grasp what Miyuki really wants, thinks in being a pro in the future. Eijun thought that he was not good enough for him to be chosen by Miyuki and talk about those things, that he still lacks the trust of Miyuki. (TBH I'm kinda interested how will this simple conversation affect Eijun - I sure hope that he'll aim at being a pro as well.)
The part of the scene that speaks to me is the fact that Ochiai was the one who walks up to Kataoka and says "The game could get out of our reach" Considering that Ochiai said he'd cut the number of players as well as be willing to sacrifice the team's whole season to let Furuya pitch when he first showed up. I think it speaks volumes as to the change in his mindset after becoming an assistant coach.
Really nice cutting scenes. I really love this n repeat order many time. Eijun just like another person we knw. I really waiting for the next season. Specialized the semi final duel with Amahisa
