I buy bead containers from Michael’s. They are really effective but I truly want an authentic Elizabeth ward container. I have to say the Ali express one is tempting.
I have a few EW and Ali knockoffs and I honestly cannot tell which container is which, other than the handles,as you said. I have all the individual containers in a box and grab the sizes I need to kit up. My First EW was the 82 piece and I bought a few extra pieces in various sizes.
That's a great idea! I like that you can buy extras of the individual pieces in various sizes. I could probably use to add a couple more of the second-largest size to my sets. Thanks friend 💛
I have an Elizabeth Ward storage and I love it. I also have the knockoff from Ali Express and you’re right, you can’t tell the difference. I just bought the bigger container from Harbor Freight to try combining the smaller containers about a week ago, but I haven’t tried it yet. As always, thanks for the sharing❤️
You have great taste in diamond painting storage! I definitely want to try the bigger container from Harbor Freight, too. I wonder if it'll be easier to work with that way? Thank you for the kind words, friend 💛
Thank you! I think it would be helpful to have the bigger container that way we could work on kits with more colors without having to have two or more separate containers to work with.
I have a few Harbor Freights. I found a plastic container on Amazon that can hold 60-61 individual containers. Any container that has a lid and is at least 2 inches tall will work. Thank you for reviewing the AliExpress dupes. I was considering trying them out but I wasn't sure how they compared to Elizabeth Ward. I'm happy to see that they are virtually the same!
Ooh, thank you for the suggestion about using a larger plastic container to hold more of the HFs. And for giving the dimensions to look for, too! I really appreciate it 💛 And I'm glad this was helpful for seeing how the AliExpress sets compare to the EWs - I was pleasantly surprised at how they were almost exactly the same!
I have never tried the Elizabeth Ward storage option, due to price on Amazon. I do like the Harbor Freight containers. Thank you for showing us options! xoxo 💜
I purchased the ew like I asked you about last month and I absolutely love them I will never use anything else it was the best and fastest way to kit up and kit down that I can find. It was a little pricey but worth the money.
I'm so glad you've had a positive experience with the EW containers! They're definitely my favorite, and I find them really efficient to use. I agree, definitely worth the investment! 💛
I have 2 Harbor Freight sets, and have used them on more than one painting. They are still holding up quite well. Pretty inexpensive to replace if needed. The issue with the drills accumulating along the back edge is a bit of a problem, but you just adapt to it. Found some E. Ward type boxes on Amazon, and they are very small and not as useful as Harbor Freight.
Hi Katie! 👋 I have so many storage sets for my drills. 😅 My favorites are the EW/dupe set (I can't tell the difference either), the screw top bottles and the Beadsmith set. We don't have Amazon over here, but we mostly use Shopee, Lazada and AliExpress which all ship for free/at a very low cost. Shipping usually takes less than 2 weeks if it's coming from China. There's a very enthusiastic diamond painting Philippine-based group here, and we can usually find dupes for most things, even the Harbor Freight containers. 😁
I love that you have a local diamond painting group that you can find dupes and other solid options for diamond painting! That's awesome!! And it sounds like we have super similar taste when it comes to our storage preferences, haha. It's fun to try all of them out, right? Thanks friend! 💛
My fave is the Elizabeth Ward set! But I’d settle for the AliExpress version if I had to. I’m excited to get Harbor Freights shipped to me! They look so cute kitted up.
I'm the same way! I have enough EWs to get me through the zombie apocalypse at this point, but it's nice to have backup options, haha. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the HFs!
I have both and I prefer the EW set. The HF set is perfectly good in general and you can’t beat the price but some of the lids don’t close securely. I haven’t had any problems with that, but it is something to consider if you have tiny humans or rambunctious pets.
That's such a good point, Sherri! I could totally see the HFs popping open if they fell on the floor, while the EWs are much more secure (especially if you have the tray lid on, too). Thank you! 💛
The Harbor Freight set is a very solid set. I have used them pretty extensively for the past year and a half and have no issues. If you turn them on their side you can fit 27 boxes inside the container. I have the 60 count silver topped bottles from Aliexpress and they are quite nice. I have 2 of the AZQSD drill containers coming in hopefully next week. I bought them for my painting that I ordered for the Old Masters collaboration. I will definitely check out the video for the different Harbor Freight container.
Thank you so much for the suggestion about turning them on their side to fit more! That's super helpful to know. And I hope you like the AXQSD containers - they're a great budget-friendly dupe for the EWs 💛
I'm aware of Elizabeth Ward & Harbour Freight due to watching DP YT but I'm Australian so no access for me. I buy my drill containers from AliExpress & am really happy with them. I buy different ones to what you bought off Ali. Mine come in either clear or coloured containers. These hold either 58 or 28 compartments. They are sold by alot of seller's on Ali. They are about $10 AUD & usually free shipping. Oh I appreciate you thinking of us international viewers btw.
Hi Katie, thanks again for this useful review😊 So I live abroad and use myus.com services for stores only ship in the US. It's a forwarding company and provide you a suit and address in the US (and actually now another in the UK) for one to send items purchased in the US. I can send multiple items from different shops in the US to the designed suit and then call forward all to Japan as one badge. When I started using their services a couple years ago, 7days storage was free by only creating an account, if one wants to keep longer, then they had to pay monthly fee, like $7/month to keep items in the suit for a month. Just sharing in case any of your international viewers is interested to know😉
How many containers you have available for diamond painting? Also how you label your little containers when you buy from a company that don’t provided the labels?
My favorite is the EW/knockoff EW sets! I got my knockoff sets on Amazon using Prime and had it within a couple days so that’s a possible option too if they’re still on there!
I know this comment is from a while ago but do you happen to remember what you searched to have the knockoff EW sets show up on Amazon? I cant seem to find any 😭
@@Mikabellaa I can’t find the knockoffs but I do see the brand name on there for $27 and that’s about the same price as the knockoff so I’d scoop it up! www.amazon.com/gp/intuition/B00DV8YERS/?ie=UTF8&i=%7B%22attributeList%22%3A%5B%5D%2C%22selectedAttributes%22%3A%5B%5D%2C%22attributeToDisplayString%22%3A%7B%7D%2C%22contextAsin%22%3A%22B00DV8YERS%22%2C%22contextAsinSource%22%3A%22%22%2C%22mostRecentViewedAsins%22%3A%5B%5D%2C%22missionInfo%22%3A%22AAAAAAAAAAHU8Rbukg01oghzV%2F4TaeNj9PsxjqUluoV9KYYjB2yhH5JUagB2Qka87dC8K%2B8bGI3QmLcKZ4h5Dq3o2rya4mPuFULEwc4dxEp8AOCeL78re79HGmw5yJf2OQhX7znMr36OZQefdtMjfs4%2FXiW8u%2FrcYNxBn4zmCcVlLFD1lku9Icf%2FY3CITboB5MWBvFFmv89DSpQWkobPzqJRYZlPlSFBoJqOGk6W6e0f3BI13f72%22%7D&pf_rd_p=136c4fe5-e61f-4d89-a342-1d33712d004a&pd_rd_wg=QpxXK&pf_rd_r=6B40D5GH6EB062YXEQ7B&pd_rd_w=8YKxE&pd_rd_r=3f72c7bb-f5ea-4e9b-9f02-111ead954edb&ref_=pd_gwm_pd_aw_di_ci_int_sci_gw_atf_m_1
That's a good approach! I tend to use my HFs for snacks, depending on how many colors there are. I haven't reached for my bottle set since I worked on the JoWall, I think since the case is so bulky. Thanks for watching, friend! 💛
I've been using stacking container sets from Walmart because its a stack of containers that screw into each other and don't open by themselves they are perfect for my worries of them opening and mixing and they come in different sizes the one I bought came with 6 stacks (4 stacks with 5 containers and 2 stacks with 4 containers) and its held most of my kits until recently I started working on a bigger piece with significantly more colors than im used to but you can buy more stacks seperate from the case total I spent about $12 US
I have two of that same set from AliExpress, I think from Huacan. I’ve kitted up a painting in it and I’m excited to try it! I am spoiled by my usual method (screw top containers labeled 1-60) and it felt like kitting up took SO much longer, so I’m interested to see if the benefits (help with confetti and fewer leftover baggies) outweigh the downsides (my impatience with kitting up). I’m thinking these sets will probably come in handy when I tackle a much bigger painting with a ton of colors!
I'm sooo curious to hear what you think! The screw-top bottles are nice for small amounts of drills, but I hate having those leftover baggies and having to refill. But I suppose we all get used to a way of doing things, and who likes change? Ha! Anyway, you'll have to keep me posted on your experience with the Huacan sets!
I love the zip case with 60 bottles. I have them numbered and when I do a painting, I see the symbol, check the number (1-44 or whatever) and grab that bottle. It doesn’t do me any good to put the symbol on the bottles, and when I’m done, empty them into a storage system I’m still trying to decide!! My current diamond painting is from DAC and I just cut the list of symbols/numbers off the packing sticker page, and use that to look up the codes! Just left the sticky paper backing on it. I have the AliExpress EW look alike. I used it to kit up my last (large) painting and honestly, I didn’t like working out of it! I sit in my recliner to paint and use a lap desk with the drills on the arm of the chair and couch! I couldn’t see the numbers/symbols on the boxes, so it was a pain!
Oh and this time if there were too many drills for the small bottles, I used a harbor freight container and just put the number (like 20, 34, etc) on it so I knew what bottle it is for. It is working out great for me! I don’t have any drills still in bags, and I definitely love using the HF boxes for that because they hold a lot!
That's an efficient way to tackle kitting up and organizing your drills! I like those zip cases too, I've used them on kits with lots of colors in small amounts, too. Thanks for sharing! 💛
I got that Classify EW knock off at my local art store and you can find it online at other sites that ship faster. The only thing about buying it in town is the price. As mine cost $59 before tax.
As I am still new I am trying to find what works best. So far I found the med boxes too small and hard to open, and I am not a fan of the tic tac boxes which I am using for my current wip. I have a 15 bottle set with the zippered container and the EW knock off to try. So when I do a tiny kit I will be trying the bottles and when I do a bigger kit I will be trying the knockoff one. Hopefully one of those work well for me. Though if its the bottles I will need to buy a bigger set as only 15 is not enough.
Thank you so much for this video! The Elizabeth Ward containers are currently 42.99 on Amazon and I couldn't fathom that price. So I ordered from aliexpress instead. At only 18 bucks I don't mind the wait lol
I'm so glad it was helpful! Yikes, yeah, $43 is way too much for the Elizabeth Ward set. I hope you like the AliExpress dupes and that they don't take too long to arrive!
I have 3 of the AliExpress kit , love it / them , now i have never tryed the original ( living in Norway ) and i got the best friend in the world have gotten 3 harber freight to me , they Are on the way over here , can hardly wait for them :)
OMG thanks so much for this video I wanted Elizabeth Ward containers but just not ready for the at 55 dollar investment I have the Harbor freight but still want the other so I will wait for my Ali express order lol.
From Canada, I bought all my “imitation Elizabeth” on Amazon.ca and now we can find them in a Canadian company Diamondart.ca; they offer 3 different size containers (42, 50 & 78) and they are about CAN $ 39. It is a bit pricey but good quality and a good option for all people who, like me, refuse to deal with AliExpress. They are my favourite.
I would l Iove to get a couple of them habour freight containers but yeah l live in Australia....what a shame they don't do international shipping they would sell thousands of them even with the postage being more costly then the product
The AliExpress one I’ve been seeing lots of!!And unfortunately I can’t grab I’m a harbor freight ones cause 🇨🇦 BUT hardcore fan of the Elizabeth Ward containers!!!
I wish that the cost of shipping wouldn't basically offset the super low cost of Harbor Freights! But definitely check out the AliExpress ones if you need more sets and can't get your hands on more EWs!
I live in the Netherlands and I found Elizabeth Ward containers a little pricey so I went looking on aliexpress. I was able to buy two 42 count containers for the same pricee as one on amazon. I have been using them for about a month and love them.
I paid $79 for the Elizabeth Ward case lmfao. You can't get EW in Canada like the other case you mentioned here so on Amazon the only way to buy it is from a third party company and they charged a LOT for it. If only I knew about the AliExpress dupes before I bought mine.
Yiiikes, I'm sorry friend! That's a steep price. Maybe if you end up needing more sets in the future, at least you know that the AliExpress ones are an option 💛
@@DiamondsandWashi Yeah definitely good to know that the AliExpress dupe isn't much far off! I just thought I might as well get it before it completely goes away and everyone always raves about it so why not
Just thought I’d comment that I purchased the Cottage Dot set after your review. Totally disappointed and really a bit of a shame as size wise they are good. The lids and catches on the majority of boxes do not close properly resulting in some cases the possibility of drills escaping through the gaps. I may now try the Aliexpress as seen on your today’s vid. Thanks - love watching 🐨
I'm really sorry that you had a negative experience with the Cottage Mills Dot Box set. That's really disappointing! I had a mixed experience with them too (and I hope that came across in my review and that I didn't unintentionally mislead you). I definitely had a positive experience with the AliExpress set, though, and found them to be nearly identical to the Elizabeth Wards. So if you like that style, I'd image you'd like the AliExpress set. I hope that helps! Thank you for watching (and commenting!) 💛
@@DiamondsandWashi Thanks so much for your reply. Misled? Not at all. I liked the look of that set and it seemed a good size for me so I went for it. You win some - sometimes. I think I’ll go ahead and see if I can get that Aliexpress set - I do love the look of the Elizabeth Ward set. Enjoy your vids. 🐨
Hi Melanie! Some companies include sticker sheets with their kits that I just cut up and use (like Diamond Art Club and Craftibly do). Otherwise, I either scan or take a picture of the legend on the canvas and print a copy, or take the paper inventory sheet sometimes included with kits, and run that through my Xyron Sticker Maker. Definitely one of my favorite accessory investments for this craft! If you'd like to check it out, I have it linked on my Amazon lists here: www.amazon.com/shop/diamonds_and_washi
I have the Elizabeth ward set. Today I seen they were for $50 on Amazon. Do you think the tops will last to where I will never have to replace them? Like should I get a back set in case they discontinue?
Yikes, definitely don't spend $50 on a set! I've been using my Elizabeth Ward containers virtually nonstop since I started diamond painting a year ago, and though I do have a few full sets that I rotate through and interchange freely, I haven't noticed any sort of wear or issues with the tops. One benefit to having at least two sets is being able to swap containers in and out, so if you have a kit with more than 42 colors, you can still use the tray (but just swap in more smaller and fewer larger containers) if that makes sense. Just a thought, but I'd definitely just go with the AliExpress version over a $50 name brand set, since they're virtually identical and you can swap them with each other.
Say it isn’t so about Elizabeth ward containers! Target is selling them in packs of two for 52 bucks. Red card will get you 5% off that price. I think it’s time to stock up.
No way! Target has them?? I'll have to go and take a look! I don't think I've ever seen them on the website, but I'm super intrigued. Thanks for the suggestion! 💛
