What I have here are a bunch diamonds. They're all uncut and pretty small, but I still think they're pretty nice. What I've always wanted to try, was blast them with a blowtorch. #shorts
For those who don't already know, diamonds are an incredibly common mineral, as it's not hard to compress carbon underground. Jewelry companies overinflate the price of cut diamonds.

Natural flawless jewelry grade diamonds are incredibly rare. These days artificial diamonds can be grown without flaws and are used in almost all jewelry.
Industrial Diamonds can easily be created artificially and you get a nice one for 50€. Natural pure Diamonds are very rare and valuable. But you are right, the prices are artificially inflated and the conditions of gathering are horrible. Every natural Diamond is a Blooddiamond.
Because in chemists eyes, diamonds are just a huge bulk of carbon which is useless except for mirror cutting, drilling and jewelery. They are not that useful for chemical means. In fact they are not rare and can even be made from the ashes. They make it seems like diamonds are rare, to keep the price high.

@@cheaterman49 the full video was actually probably one of his cheapest videos to make and this clip by itself probably only cost $150-200 which isn't a lot of money but it's still more than I'd be willing to throw away

uncut diamonds bought for industrial purposes are worth much less than jewellery the only reason cut diamonds are worth so much is just that only a few companies do diamond jewellery and they all inflate the price over 100%

It's actual the least expensive carbon dust, as diamonds are actually super common, that if the full diamond supply was released into the market, they would be worthless.... and they only hold value because there's a company who has a monopoly on diamonds and artificially inflates the value
Those are some kind of diamonds that you can make in a lab. They are 100% real diamonds, but this way, that's pretty much the biggest size you can get. If you want a big one, you should be prepared to spend some big money
To be fair uncut low clarity and colour diamonds are extremely cheap. These look lower than commercial grade so....prolly not even sellable for jewelry
Diamonds were never expensive, they only start getting expensive when put on jewelry, but many tools use diamond quite cheaply, you can buy a bag of natural diamonds for $50
