The stage presence, the range, the emotive ability, the tiny perfectly rythmic swaying body movements, the witchy vocalizations, the overall shamanistic earth mother vibe, the haunting overtones, and that thunderous, rich, dark, resonant contralto. Her talent blazes like a supernova, despite her rather brutal start to life. She is bravery, perseverance, and soul power personified. Well Princess Diana at age 15 did a cover of it that will blow you away. We both like and have seen Aurora recently and Diana Ankudinova is actually my #2 favorite. The guy who stood in amazement is Yusif Eyvazov, husband of world famous operatic soprano Anna Netrebko and an opera singer himself. What an honor to receive that reaction! The girl in red is Julia Parshuta and is also great and I love her song "Cinderella" on this same show.
Diana is a one of a kind. Nobody sounds like she does (She is 18 years old here in this performance from last September on Russian TV). She has many songs that will surprise you in different ways. I've listened to her for years now and have watched her rise. I listen to something she sings pretty much daily. We love her in Texas. 🤍🤠
Diana's back story is heart breaking. Aged just 3 and with a broken arm, her mother abandoned her at a bus stop. She was taken to a hospital and one of the nurses eventually adopted her. So, thanks to a loving family, we get to see this amazing young talent who has only just turned 19. This was a competition and all those judges, also participants, are established artists, yet she totally amazed them. There is a great video of Diana aged about 14 on another talent show yodeling. Modern music is in good hands with Diana, Aurora, Angelina and Sigrid.

Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. She is not only a contralto, she is polyphonic as well, so you hear several different notes at the same time. I'll help you with this one, put up the closed caption and see what all these judges have to say about Diana. They don't comment like US judges, festinating and well worth it

The judge standing on the top row with the beard and tears in his eyes is Yusif Eyvazov who is married to Anna Netrebko, both international opera singers. What does it say about her performance if she could move him to tears?
18 years old in this one that was filmed last year. She is hands down the best female vocalist of our times, the things she can do with her voice are unbelievable. If you are looking about to analyze the technical parts of her voice and what makes it unique then according to vocal coaches around the world she first of all has the register of a dramatic contralto (the rarest human register) but through hard work she has extended that to the soprano range, then she can use polyphonic sounds (she uses 2 different tonalities at the same time), she produces binaural sounds, that is an auditory illusion created by the brain when you listen to two tones with slightly different frequencies at the same time, this makes you feel goosebumps (She is called the queen of goosebumps a very frequent phenomenon every time you hear her sing ), her timbre is also one of her unique characteristics making her sound even deeper than the actual register she is singing, she is a master yodeler, her vocal agility is insane, she can jump up and down the octaves like it is nothing. She is another very interesting story that you will discover. Great reaction! This performance was from a Russian show that aired last fall, and ran for 9 weeks. There were 9 singers who were also the judges and critiqued each other. There were 9 genres of music they had to perform over the course of the show. Thus Diana sang in many different styles. Your reaction reminded me of my first reaction to this performance. I watched Diana's performances five years before this event, but nevertheless I was so shocked it is indescribable. My favorite singer Diana took me into space like a comet or under water like a mermaid with this performance, then I did not understand exactly where her song took me.😄

SO.. yet another new singer for you to digest and dissect. Good luck dissecting Diana, my good friend. Rest assured, she's a one off. At least to MY knowledge. She has got what's called a POLYFONIC voice, essentially meaning that she's capable of singing two different lines of melody simultaneously. She's not the only one with that capability, even though it takes a larynx extraordinaire, but if you combine that ability with her insane range and feel, you get the one off that is called Diana Ankudinova. I have listened to quite a lot of her stuff, and I am subscribed to a Russian channel (and of course her own channel as well) which shows a lot of her not so well known work (at least to the western world.) IMO, this is where she shines the brightest. I still remember MY first time hearing her, and I also had this FWT (arranged in a slightly different order) reaction. She had just turned 15 in that one, and it was also taken from a talent show. I'm sure the link will be blocked, so maybe try pasting 2018.09.05. "Derniere Danse" and see if that takes you there. As the title suggests, it's a French song (a very famous one at that) and she sings in French. After that I just HAD to dig deeper into her catalogue. Very intrigueing and special indeed.
