Diana Ross performing If We Hold On Together (feat. Sølvguttene - eng. "the silverboys") live at the Nobel peace prize concert december 11th 2008 in Oslo, Norway
I think she did damn good. She doesn't lip sync or use auto tune. Her performance was not flat at all. I've studied music and I have a pretty good ear. She has been singing 50+ years and will have raspy moments with her voice. I've seen her recently and vocals were top notch and 6+ clothing changes and never broke a sweat at her age. I think she is divine. A true performer.
you can hear how sick she was even when she was speaking. Unlike other performers sick or not she is going on LIVE! She grew up in time when "the show must go on", unlike Mariah's New Years bullshit.
This brought me back to when I watched the show as an 11-year-old boy. Of course, I didn't know who she was back then, and what the song was about. I can't even remember if I enjoyed the show all that much. But hearing this again some 30 odd years later made me tear.
Even with a bad cold she handles her business. Sounds great given the illness - talking sucks with a bad cold/sore throat - imagine singing several songs on stage. Bravo.
She's singing it in a lower register than first recorded and performed in years previous. At this stage, she's sounding great lowering the key of her songs live, giving them a new added perspective, sound and range.
A true star ..."The show must go on," even when you're sick. You can tell that her cold is rough on her. She pulled it off like the pro she is and always has been, since the early days with Motown.
i don't know how silly this sounds but this song brings abck so many memories, she has always been one of my favoirte female vocalists because of this song. If you know what i am talking about this is to the theme song to the land before time and she can still sing this song amazingly!
At 68-69 years of age, I just thinks she is so amazing to still have a voice where she still sounds like Diana Ross....in these time where there's soooo much controversy over that!
Cold and all she is still elegant, classy, sophisticated, beautiful and talented. She is a true Living Legend. She is The Boss Ms. Ross. The Supreme One.
Don't lose your way With each passing day You've come so far Don't throw it away Live believing Dreams are for weaving Wonders are waiting to start Live your story Faith, hope and glory Hold to the truth in your heart If we hold on together I know our dreams will never die Dreams see us through to forever Where clouds roll by For you and I Souls in the wind Must learn how to mend Seek out a star Hold on to the end Valley, mountain There is a fountain Washes our tears all away Words are swaying Someone is praying Please let us come home to stay If we hold on together I know our dreams will never die Dreams see us through to forever Where clouds roll by For you and I When we are out there in the dark We'll dream about the sun In the dark, we'll feel the light Warm our hearts, everyone If we hold on together I know our dreams will never die Dreams see us through to forever As high as souls can fly The clouds roll by For you and I
One needs to separate the art from the artist. Diane Ross was Motown's "Queen of Mean," The Supremes' "Pig in a Wig," and Berry Gordy's "Ho in a Fro!!!" Don't be taken in by Diane's warm voice and the caring act...........she is one wicked, treacherous woman and should be held accountable for her past transgressions.
wonder why the women like ross tina patti look so good at 64..and the men look like dried up bannana peels? it must be a woman thing..i am a 52 yr old man(i work out thank god other wise i would be a dried up mess. whats yur secret diane? oh forget it..I love u so much although u dont know i exist.
Lol….Diane Ross, singing with church choir children harmonizing with her? She don't sound as good as with "BACKGROUND SINGERS", covering her flat notes, does she? That performance was flat as a pancake!
