I'll never forget this..... It hurts like it just happened yesterday.... Everyone in my family was crying that night. Marvin Gaye was on heavy rotation in our home. His legend will last forever.
I was a baby who stopped crying when my parents played Marvin.. as a toddler crawling to the stereo whenever they played Marvin.. I’d pull myself up and lay my head on the stereo and watch the TAMALA label ( Motown label ) go round and round.. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I truly hate hate hate Marvin's father for shooting him dead. I don't care what was his excuse. One of the greatest talents in music was extinguished forever.
Well, Marvin Gaye's father got what he wife divorced him. She bailed him out of jail, but he wasn't allowed to go to marvin's funeral. But she was living in the state of california He was banned from owning a Gun and and he was banned from every liquor store and bar in the state of California and he was forced to move into a nursing home until his death In 1998.
Terrell CF Remember when they started at Motown. Berry Gordy brought in a voice coach to teach some of the groups how to talk and pronounce words when speaking without sounding ghetto.
@@tur74d56 , what he had was a violent father - which is a real shame ! until today no one can do what Marvin Gaye was able to do , his music was a magic carpet to the stars !
Marvin Gaye, was a wonderful and class act. I'm still listening to his music and it's 2020. I grew up listening to his music. I was in the Navy when i first heard his music. Yes, he is missed and will be remembered Always. 🙏🙏🙏
Reading Divided Soul by David Ritz right now. It's like traveling in time and being in the same room as Marvin as David tells his story. Marvin was a fascinating person. He had IT. RIP and Happy Belated Birthday Marvin.
It has a lot to do with the hold on releasing the rights to his music. A couple of years ago, a stage play called "My Brother Marvin" came out ( Keith Washington as Marvin) but the family didn't relinquish the rights to use his songs, which took away from the whole concept. The same things happened with the Whitney Houston movie and the Aalyiah movie.
And now Blurred Lines, Robin Thick, Pharrell, T.I. got a 3.5M hit against them for not just sampling but plagiarizing his whole song got to give it up! Can't young people do any great songs without this so called sampling?
Nice tribute, Marvin will live in our hearts forever. There are a lot of wonderful Artists. Marvin played a huge part of our lives that bring us wonderful memories. Always listening to his music, amazing songwriter who gave many other songwriters inspiration to write, sing and dance. He will never be forgotten as his music moves in to the times and future along with some other Artists as Michael Jackson. Their contributions to the american music industry are AMAZING and will be for generations to come FOREVER. Peace, Love and God Bless All.
True! I have seen many of your comments in almost all Mj Diana related videos and as you have done a research about their relationship, I would suggest you to make a video about that in your channel, I would love to see that. They (Mj and Diana) looked lovely together, I'm addicted to this couple..
I got so sad when recently i ' ve watched in a video in 2001 that MJ had looked upon Diana as his 2nd mother! I thought they were romantically in love nd wished they got married n their later yrs when both had gone divorced!😄anyway i.really adore Diana nd i love their music!
I didn't want to believe it when I found out he was gone. What a sad day. I remember seeing this and crying all the way through. I'm fighting back the tears now I love him and his music
How I see life. So many gifts. Flowers, animals & such beautiful music. Marvin Gaye was a gift! Such a sad , difficult life but we were so lucky to have him if only for a little time!
Diana Ross was a phenomenal singer, both has a solo artist-and with the memorable supremes. Slightly,(only just) before my time. But being the youngest of the family, she was always being played, along with dionne Warwick , Nina simone and the like. But Diana never had to break sweat, totally natural and addictive voice.
Amen🌹✌️🛐✝️🇺🇸🤓💯 one-of-a-kind music vocalist your spirit lives on you'll forever be in hearts and minds thank you so much for the tribute Diana Ross thank God for giving us Marvin Gaye
Got to say Diana Ross was a babe in the 80's, and beyond. She has something beyond mere beauty, I was too young to notice it at the time, but now that I'm a player I can see it quite clearly 🤣
I remember that Marvin living in Ostend, Belgium for a year before he died in the US (he composed Sexual Healing in Ostend at the seaside), met Diana Ross on one of the concerts I organized in Brussel, Belgium. This was truly a fantastic reunion and Diana and Marvin sung a duet during that concert. I will always remember that!
there are certain singers i feel the music game would be different if they hadnt passed away. Marvin Gaye is of them. Freddie Mercury is another, and Notorious B.I.G.
This is the appearance that turned the single around on Billboard after it originally peaked at 46. Radio stations started playing it and the single climbed back into the Top 10.
@@anthonywinn9651 it didn't hit the charts until December 1st 1984. It did however, hit number one R&B by late February. It was Pop stations that were reluctant to play the song. I have a feeling if this had been released on Motown, Berry Gordy would have pushed this to number one on EVERY chart!
I'm a OldTimer now, and have had the grand pleasure of legend Marvin Gaye's 🎵 rock My world! And have the best of him in my ❤️ Today I get the opportunity too re-visit those turbulent times..There will never be another A Forever Fan
Great and amazing talent!Just heard about a new biopic about Marvin Gaye in the works, hope it gets made!Mr. Marvin Gaye, we love you, and we miss you!
How much larger can a legend be than Diana Ross?? She is the epitome of Motown, and one of the greats of all Music. I was a kid when she came out with her greatest, but knew every word, still do at 63!! To me, Miss Ross was the reigning gueen of those days, but will always be revered and. really respected....
Wauuuuuu!!!!!!!! Wauuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Exelentes, artistas, marcaron una época qué trasciende alfa y omega. Felicitaciones.
This song reminds me of my son, Benjamin, who died in 2017...; the spark of life left me the day he died...I always listened to Marvin Gaye's song & he knew all the words... death is a thief!!!!
JESUS said in scripture that the devils work is to steal, kill and destroy so we must hid our lives in Him, that we may have life more abundantly, and life everlasting. Gospel of John in the Bible.
This is great because I never seen this award show until now in 2023 this great Marvin lives in heart every week that at 72 listen to his music so much and I miss him but hearing and seeing him on U tube his passion and loving soul bring tears of joy because Marvin words tell us as now we are going thru so much he was singing about the fish in ocean full of mercury and back when I was protesting about war in the east we lost so many mentally and physically and save the children there will never be another he is my favorite alone with another generation artist Tupac
Absolutely heart breaking that Marvin Gaye was shut dead by his own father. How could anyone do that to their child. He was so talented & beautiful looking too.
I've always wondered where that footage of Marvin and Diana in concert comes from. I've only seen it in this video but never in its original context. Now THAT would be a hidden gem.
The clip is from a Diana Ross concert. Marvin was in the audience and Diana handed him the mic to sing a few lines. Sadly they never actually performed a live duet together that was recorded on tape. They recorded their vocals at different times for the 1973 Diana & Marvin album as Marvin was constantly smoking dope in the studio and Diana was pregnant at the time.
OMG I was too young to understand this but It was the first time I ever felt grief 💔😔 something told me to looked this up first time I ever seen this since it first aired .
Wow@Diana Ross hot body at American Music Awards television show doing a tribute for Marvin Gaye. I wanted to kiss Diana feet, lips, shoulders when Diana was young. RIP Marvin Gaye. RIP Florence Ballard of The Supremes. RIP Mary Wilson of The Supremes. I love Diana.
My name is Valarie Scott. I remember the day that Marvin Gaye was announced that he had passed away. I was in a Chinese Restaurant, getting ready to order my food. The Television was playing and everyone in there heard the announcement too. We all looked at the TV for a brief moment of silence. I ordered a bowl of Beef fried rice that day. That sad moment etched in my memory since 1984.
