Im sure her real hair is longer that that now since she never wears it. But it has to be thinner due to her age and grey too. She just slaps those big wigs on and colors the front of her real hair black when shes doing some thing important.
Have you ever seen the video when she and Ingrid Bergman win awards in france and Diana is wearing that beautiful red sequin jumpsuit with the cutout back and she performed Mahogany, that was also her own hair and not a wig.
I know right? Fake or not, I never liked her big wild hair. IT hid her beautiful natural bone structure and lines of her face, her gorgeous eyes and chin and long neck

I love this interview and how Ms Ross looks, I'm reading all these people who are Hairstylist saying they know someone who did something for Ms Ross in the hair department, well I'm related to a phenomenal woman in New York City who use to do Ms Ross hair and she did cut her hair often because she doesn't like doing it because she's what we call in the black neighborhood tender headed, Ms Ross doesn't like anyone dealing with her hair and she only sees professional stylist when she's treating her now completely natural hair which means she doesn't have a relaxer or perm, two inches around her hairline is left out for blending while the rest is braided up sewn down and a wig fall is sewn over the braided part, Ms Ross actual hair now reaches past her shoulder blade and it's thick and natural but she has what we call a widows peak which is the point in the front of her hairline and it's very white , she puts rinse out color to cover the silver/white and adds wigs to keep from having to comb her hair too often, if you ever wanna see something cute try seeing Ms Diana Ross with two thick cornrows in her hair lol she looks like a young girl, also due to Ms Ross shaping her eyebrows she hardly have any so they're drawn on with a pencil, and her make-up is two Shades lighter than her actual complexion because she uses color to create definition and shadow and contour to her face for stage, Ms Ross also doesn't have eyelashes because of years of gluing false lashes on has pulled them out mostly, Ms Diana Ross looks like the average mom going to her kids school when she isn't on stage,
Also my friend Sandy Linter has worked with her as her makeup artist she did the cover of secrets of a sparrow cover and some mag shoots and she said she has perfect skin check bones and yes she does have lashes and brows.
Diana Ross had gorgeous hair (all her sisters and brothers did). She has the kind of hair that grows long if she let it. I'm not sure what's up with the lion mane wigs she began to wear in the 80's, but I honestly think her real hair looks much better than the wigs. This interview was done during the time of Mahogany. She has the Tracey Chambers hair and face. Man, as a kid I was OBSESSED with that movie.

Diana Ross has a beautiful and profound style for jazz. No one has ever channeled Billy Holiday like Diana in singing those songs…Not Nancy Wilson, Aretha, or even Ella (and she’s my favorite). The way Diana sung “God Bless the Child” is epic. Diana doesn’t always get her props, because folks are jealous of her because of her pop background. Flo had nothing on Diana. This proved Berry picked the right lead singer.
They were jealous because her voice that seemed less than what they perceived to be great ,had so much wide appeal and the fact she had so much alluring beauty and poise which no other singer matched. No her voice wasn't super strong , but it had everything else the others didn't

I love her pants-suit and her hair is so gorgeous. What I don't understand about Diana is why she always cuts her hair and then wears wigs and weaves. I guess she likes to always try something new.
classanddignity, she doesn't cut he hair she maybe trims the ends but that is it, and she wears wig and extension just like Beyonce because i work at a salon in nyc and we color Beyonces wigs. But with Diana she has a vision when your onstage you need to be bigger than life, Cher is another one from that school of wigs. But Diana is an expert at it she studied cosmetology in high school so when she is on tour she does her own hair. And because i work with lots of jewish woman who have to wear wigs and really know how to wear them, they leave the peremeters of their hair out and so does Miss Ross.
Also wigs onstage would keep the volume better than your own hair onstage and if your one who is constantly performing you cornrow the hair that is under the wig which also keeps it from breaking.
Ok here is the thing about woman like Diana Ross, Beyonce, and Cher all 3 woman wear wigs and all 3 have lots of hair naturally. So Diana only cut her hair for THE WIZ. I'm a hairstylist and the owner of my salon is a famous hair colorist and she colors Beyonces hair and her wigs and extensions. All these woman wear wigs for a reason, its easy and when your a performer your wig will keep the style through a 2hour performance and this because its usually your hair braided in cornrows underneath and then a wig cap and your wig so the wig doesn't touch your scalp therefore your hair isn't all sweaty and flat. To sum it all up most female singers actresses performers in general wear wigs or extensions and Diana does wear her own hair, as a matter of fact she is probably the most brilliant hair person of the 3, when she is on tour she does her own hair and makeup.
@clouds overnyc @Miss Ross You're incorrect. Diana Ross often cuts her hair into styles. I have early photos of her and have seen certain videos. You can tell she does have long hair and the potential for it to be longer. Look at that picture when she was a young girl or if you see her sister’s hair that’s a doctor; it runs in the family. Look at the mother’s day interview with Barbara Walters or Larry Hart. She cuts it and then wears wigs and pieces. If you are very perceptive, tell me what’s that on the album single “Ain’t No Mountain..” her hair or wig. On the cover of Diana she cut her hair then again.
