Shadow health secretary Diane Abbott says leadership contender Owen Smith's past job as a pharmaceutical "lobbyist" will not win him support from the grassroots of the party. "The Tories have just had a former PR man/lobbyist as their leader," the Jeremy Corbyn supporter tells Justin Webb. "They've now moved beyond that."
Mr Smith on Wednesday defended his work for Pfizer, saying he had never advocated privatisation of the NHS.

The problem of lobbyists (drug lobbyists especially) is that they do not work in the interest of the public. By definition, they lobby to make money for themselves and their boss. Sometimes it works out but most of the time there are issues. For example persuading doctors to use a possibly inferior drug over another, or even being prescribed a drug that is not suitable. While Owen Smith was pushing pills for a pharmaceutical company, Jeremy was on the streets with the public fighting for a better NHS. Who is on our side?

So the fact Corbyn was so poor was the fault of Labour MPs? So she is the shadow health secretary? Shouldn't she be talking about the NHS rather than smirking because Smith worked for a drugs company? People want sincerity - those Labour politicians who, for example, don't send their children to public schools .... which Diane Abbott of course would never do.

Lobbyist and being in uncomfortable about it, goes to conflict of interest which in the end is corruption, being dishonest. How do you make such statements yet be dishonest and corrupt yourself. I suppose if you accuse her she’ll just say ‘I’ve got nothing more to say on that’

She really should be called out for cultural appropriation with that hair-do. It's simply inconceivable that a black woman with her lineage would have straight, shiny hair like that. But just like racism, cultural appropriation only works one way. However, ever since she has taken up this absurd hair-do, or wig perhaps, she strikes me as looking exactly like an African Cape Buffalo.
