Dianna Russini broke news this week with a few giant stories from the NFL, but her report about Zach Wilson's reluctance to start again for the New York Jets saw pushback from the team and even Aaron Rodgers. Dianna joined The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz and responded to the reaction the report got and detailed the harassment she's been getting from Jets fans after the story.

I’m sorry, but where did the part that her reporting was confirmed? Unnamed sources should always be taken with a grain of salt. Richard Jewell was humiliated by unnamed sources. Her sources might not like Zach, or took something out of context. She is making a fortune by these unnamed sources.

ooops! the story probably is correct but......Jets 30....Texans 6. Stroud #2 pick....oops!!! Zach played well. We Jets fans appreciate and suffer...and hope Zach Wilson and Jets can finish season in a positive way. Hope Stroud is OK...Sorry he was hurt. He is an awesome talent. Honestly, if I were Zach, and felt I would not be a Jet next year, I wouldn't want to risk injury either.

I’m just curious how she would know this story if it’s true because who told her? Given the inflammatory nature of such gossipy and slanderous story, why didn’t Diana ask Zach directly if there were any truth to the rumors that she ran with? A solid journalist would have done that before impulse tweeting it out … She must have known the negativity it would have generated against the kid.

This "journalist" could've done one thing that would've given the story alot more credibility: ask Zach Wilson to comment on the report. She didn't want to do that because that would've been too inconvenient to the narrative that she and the Athletic wanted to portray. 2 days after this exclusive bombshell Zach was named the starter, and today he just finished balling out against the Texans not looking like a guy who was afraid to get injured. Not to mention, when she was gathering her information last week, Zach was benched by the Jets to QB3 heading into the game against the Falcons, the Jets weren't asking him to start they were asking him to sit. He didn't bench himself. So, a guy who was essentially rejected by his coaches and GM, who everyone thought had played his last game as a Jet, may have said "yeah, I wouldn't go back if they asked me to." You can make that into a character assassination, which Russini chose to do, or if you're actually a journalist you can look for the context of the story. But in any case, with Zach being named starter the rest of the season she and Rosenblatt look like Jack asses which is why she's doing the rehabilitation circuit.

It’s obvious why you don’t do that… you risk exposing your source. Whoever her source is inside the organization tells this to her for her use in her story. That’s why she doesn’t bring her unnamed source’s testimony to other people within the organization.

Your rationale doesn't make sense as to why she wouldn't ask Zach Wilson, the subject of the rumors, for comment before printing the story. Whether she asked for comment before printing the story or not, the Jets would know that someone in the organization leaked, and according to Russini it was multiple sources, although the evidence seems to point to Tim Boyle, who had a vested interest in damaging Zach's reputation.@@kgthakid2911

No, but by going to Zach Wilson she risks exposing that source. And if she does that, she’ll never get another source again.

Aaron is an insightful man. The media has doubled down on a gossipy story which shows a lack of credibility. A high school newspaper has higher ethical standards. If anything Aaron had the guts to point out sports reporting is entertainment and nothing more.

1. Diana Russini doesn't have to apologize to ANY-Goddamn-BODY. She is a credible professional sports journalist that got a good story. In case nobody ever knew this, most really good sports stories make somebody look bad, mostly because that somebody was or is acting like a jackass. 2. The New Jersey Jets hopes for this year went Tango Uniform 40 seconds into the season. Now they're looking for someone to take 55 years of frustration out on. And, typical of NaYawkas and NooJoyzeez, they're gonna take it out on somebody who had the unmitigated gall to state the obvious truth in public. This is just one of the several hundred reasons why 'classy' and New York/New Jersey are never used positively in a sentence. 3. OF COURSE Zack Wilson doesn't want to put his career at risk playing for a team with a O-line made out of used tissue paper. Would you?? You bust your ass for 12 years of your life from Pop Warner to the NFL dodging the injury bullet the entire time and **doing it all for free** just to get stuck on a team full of stiffs, cast offs, and medical school cadavers that are almost guaranteed to get you concussed into retirement before your rookie contract runs out. This is what irks me about the show, this is a horrible take and you are not as “woke” as you think, the man is having a medical issue, 75% of football players are reluctant to play, you’re volunteering for guaranteed brain damage, every player has to draw the line somewhere, this is not news this is a medical issue that has to do with CTE, very hard to understand for people who haven’t played high level organized football, even harder to understand for someone who has never put on pads….

That's how reporting works under a dictatorship like China, North Korea, and Russia. This is part of the reason why MAGA Republicans support those places and want the same type of "government". All his anger was directed at teammates and staff who leaked the story to Diana and other members of the press. I think he even agreed that she was a good and honest reporter.

I don't question this story at all. I am absolutely sure Zach Wilson was hesitant about returning to the field for an organization that has set him up to fail. Zach Wilson is not a good quarterback. But, the Jets are worse as an organization than Zach is as a quarterback in my opinion. And, the reaction by these loudmouthed jerks on sports talk radio is more reflective of the cold-hearted nature of that business than it is on Zach Wilson. Zach Wilson has been the subject of ridicule, criticism and bullying by certain ESPN Radio personalities all season long. If Aaron Rodgers doesn't get hurt in week 1, it's a whole different storyline this year and Zach Wilson is a relative afterthought that sports analysts forget about, which would be tremendously beneficial to Zach. I don't blame Zach whatsoever for being heistant. He's a human-frigging being. Those that would say he's being paid a lot of money to go play when asked and criticism for having a human reaction, which he ultimately did after this whole shit show, are those people that are dead from the heart up. At the end of the day, can we wise up and put the Jets back on the back burner where they belong? They're not worthy of all this coverage at this juncture in the season.
